I been playing gw2 for 5 years and im a pve not competitive player (barely playing pvp ranked or high fractals /raids) and all I can say is dragon hunter is a very direct damage spec, but not like a duelist if we talk pvp, is just burst of damage and win or it gets some fragile, you can play with virtues or valor for defense and use zeal and brilliance for damage, I preferred virtues for defense and utility over valor, so for damage you have 2 options Zeal is good for team play on bosses and against mobs (mutiple enemies) because your symbols will deal vulnerability and can boost your GS damage and cool down Brilliance is more useful for pvp o against a certain number of enemies but not against bosses, this is because you have a trait (forgot the name) that reset your justice virtue everytime you kill a target, that with great hunter showdown can increase a lot the damge you can inflict to one single target but only if it dies, also brilliance can upgrade signets if you want to use one or two, again you have a powerful source of power Boon but only If you can kill targets quickly, so useful on pvp if you know how to use it
I've dh mained for years, it's great for pve open world. Most metas it's the top 4 on arcdps. But raids and stikes. It only really shines for stationary bosses like gorseval or samarog, etc. When bosses move alot you lose a ton of dps from your combos and traps.
My dream dragonhunter- "While wielding longbow you are able to shoot traps at distance 1200, but every 200 range increases trap cooldown by 1 sec" or something like this. Dont know why i want to shoot them at distance so badly but i really would like :).
Hey Kroof stellar video as usual ! Always a pleasure to watch and listen to as your passion for this game really shows ! I just came back to GW recently and have been playing a Mirage and I've been enjoying it a wee bit, although I am definitely missing my "big number on screen go brr" itch since it's all based around building conditions. You're convincing me pretty quickly to give DH a go (and I know you're primarily a healer) but what's been your fav DPS to go with so far ? Thanks as always lass, you're a real treasure to us !
What i'd be afraid of. Is, that I'd go Dragon Hunter. then it gets nerfed, as soon as i get it. I've heard from some, that DH seems to be overpowered? Wonder if its good for Pvp?
late answer but, everything related to pve content usually involves fractals, raids, strikes but not open world. yes it's squishy in open world, your best bet is using different stats/runes but for any other pve game mode you should pump it all to power
Still firebrand offers more consistent damage output with condition... Dragonhunter bursts big numbers, but when the battle duration is longer, the total dps weakens.. Especially on jumper mobs and fast moving bosses you lose tons of dps.
