This franchise has been around for a long time and still going strong. Do your best Anet to knock this one out of the park and give us yet another decade of adventure! Been around since 2005 and I haven't stopped having fun yet.
i find this amazing.. first and foremost those are all reused cinematics, we have great stuff already in engine and most people forget it!! you also touched plots that we thought dismissed!! the hypeee!!! oh im so into EoD!! keep it up Anet!!
It was a moment when many things were lost and gained. Server identity and a sense of community burned to ashes with Lion's Arch only to be replaced with an amusement park. We also got mega server, which was honestly a blessing that helped recover the population and steered the game's narrative to a more clear direction.
A spoilerific summary: You are the commander. You wage war on the dragon Zhaitan, killing its undead minions that acted as its mouth and eyes. Blinded and starved, Zhaitan is brought down by the army you assembled: The Pact. A sylvari named Scarlet Briar awakens the dragon Mordremoth and it is revealed that the sylvari are his creation, susceptible to his control. After losing the Pact fleet over the Maguuma jungle, your beleaguered army presses on, ultimately destroying both the physical and mental manifestations of Mordremoth. The dragons Primordus, Jormag, Kralkatorrik and Aurene are awakened (in Aurene's case, hatched) by the flow of magic from their dead brethren. A mysterious stranger, who is revealed to be the exiled god Balthazar, drains Primordus' energy, sending him back to sleep. Balthazar fled across the desert and the commander followed. Balthazar's goal is to drain the dragon Kralkatorrik of his power, but you and Aurene thwart his plans, ultimately slaying him. Aurene and Kralkatorrik absorb Balthazar's amassed power. After dealing with a pesky lich, you go after Kralkatorrik who is now enriched with the energies of an extra-planar deity and has begun devouring the Mists. You lure the dragon into a trap at Thunderhead Keep and stab out its eye with a spear wrought from its own crystallised blood. Severely wounded, the dragon flees, but is brought down and slain by you and Aurene, who effectively devours her grandfather from the inside out, becoming a true elder dragon in the process. Far to the north, a leader of the charr named Bangar is jealous and attempts to ally himself with Jormag as you are with Aurene, but the ice dragon betrays him, choosing instead Bangar's protégé, Ryland Steelcatcher. Stirred by Jormag's activity, Primordus once again awakens and Braham acts as its champion, bent on destroying Jormag. After sewing carnage across Tyria, Ryland and Braham duel, but ultimately neither wins: Primordus and Jormag's long rivalry leads to the two clashing directly, killing each other while Aurene swoops in to absorb their energies. Now there are two dragons left, Aurene and a theorised though yet-unseen water dragon, but Aurene is young and she has devoured the energies of three dragons, a god and a lich, which should make for some killer indigestion. What happens next? We'll find out in End of Dragons.
Thanks a lot! I really tried to catch up with the story but really lost the motivation and kind of the lead on what to do next after ryland became Jormags Champion
This was beautiful! So many memories. I've been playing since beta, and GW1 before that. I love the Guild Wars games, and all the awesome characters we've interacted with. I love the members of Destiny's Edge and Dragon's Watch, and I hated losing any one of them. I hope we don't lose Taimi, but I have a theory about that. Anyway, I loved this look back, and now I'm looking forward to End of Dragons even more! Thank you ArenaNet!
This video is so important it confirms that at least the killing dragons = Bad, and taimi dying storylines have not been dropped! HYPEEEEE Edit: BTW I don't think taimi should die or survive I just care that they continue developing that story and give it a satisfying ending either way ;)
@@CuriousMoth I mean, you're not wrong. She was intrigued by the idea of golem bodies (for obvious reasons), so a jadetech body wouldn't be outside the realm of possibilities.
Been so hyped for this expac! I first started playing GW1 when Factions came out, fell in love with Assassin and Ritualist. This already gives me great Cantha feels and watching this is giving me chills down my spine, hopefully will bring back that Canthan magic I had playing as a child...
This honestly makes me a bit emotional. I’m a pretty casual player, so I haven’t done everything, but: -I defeated a rouge god and broke his war machine -I erased the last Mursaat from the face of the continent -I shattered the minds and bodies of the great jungle dragon and all the hordes and champions it could throw at me -I cleaved the alliances of the worst scum to cross my path -I showed the world the dragons are not invincible by striking down the cursed dragon of death And even before that -I postponed the apocalypse to a time better suited to weather the storm -I slayed a fallen god before he could rise from the prison of his own sins -I halted the cataclysmic return of the traitor from so long ago -I prevented the invasion of one of the most destructive forces known to man No, WE did all that. I’ve been playing GW2 off and on since the beta and played GW1 for a few years before that. This franchise will always be part of my youth and I’m so happy to see it staying strong so long. Here’s to the next ten years and the next adventure.
I feel bad that the Mursaat are extinct. Yeah they killed hundreds of people but they were doing it to keep a far worse evil at bay, and I felt like they deserved a redemption arc
@@Orcaluv26 Killing for the greater good isn’t really for the greater good. How does it make them any different to the elder dragons? They might have been against the elder dragons but they were also against everyone else.
Man, what a journey we had so far. The years we spent and many emotions we felt were all summarized in this trailer. Well, most of them. Well done. I personally appreciate all that you've done for us so far. 💜
I find it interesting that at the start of the line "Not everybody made it" you see Zojia, however there is no mention of Blish, supporting the theory, that he might come back (maybe as part of the Aetherblades, I mean who wouldn't pick up a fully sentient golem in the mists ;) )
I love Blish's Sorrow track so much and playing it as the first track after the intro almost makes me cry. Probably one of the saddest moments in gw2 story
It's actually kinda funny , how Scarlet Briar did the biggest changes towards maps etc ,compared to the other villians we had (except dragons) I'm kinda sad , that kuda wasnt kinda the next potential villian as her replacement :/
you just summed up the edge points of the entire story in about 3 minutes.. thats.. incredible :O i was around when briar bombed lion's arch and that was one gaming experience i'll never forget. its 6 years ago or so. i love how the living world keeps being amazing
I’ll never tire of Guild Wars… the storyline, action, graphics, adventure, and more. Must say it also touches on every emotion… love, sadness, anger, accomplishment, wonder, laughter etc, etc… yes, I’ve even shed some tears. Look forward to many more challenges. Thank You ArenaNet 😊❤️ ASCLEPIUS
All the feels... yes I teared up at a certain moments. I fell in love with Tyria in GW: Prophecies. one of the first games that gave me a world and environment I got lost wandering and exploring in. I have enjoyed seeing how the world has changed from then to now. Can't wait to get lost again exploring the many layers of Kaineng City and the depths of the Echovald Forest!!
Heh. I remember trying out the game just befopre HoT launched. I'd seen copies in stores a few times and one day saw an ad about it being free to play. Sure, why not, looks like it's worth a try. Fell in love with the world orf Tyria, and now here we are on expansion three in a few days. Here's to many more!
Well, I really hope they will find a Solution to Taimi’s situation. If not, I can always make it in my personal Commander’s story, that they manage to bring her back as a spirit or an undead (my Commander is a necromancer). Nyeh nyeh nyeh. :P Btw. Love the detail in expression on Taimi’s face, when she sat on her chair. Shows that she’s really in pain. … I mean I’m not happy she’s in pain… but… you know what I mean! ^^;
Honestly, upon closer inspection the storyline explores some real world themes such as war war profiteering, political power struggles, and the balance of power just to name a few.
@@vitobanovac9416 Oh! That's a surprise. I'm super confident there are locations in HoT where that song is triggered. But regardless of my confusion, there's excellent music running through the whole franchise.
