you know, i seriously hope glint gets a new voice for GW2. shiro did, so why not glint? more "deep, knowledgeable ancient dragon" and less "crazy old hag in the bus"

The Pale Tree is also pretty overtly prophetic. Interesting that the most prominent prophets in the franchise are both dragon champions....

Mordremoth did not corrupt the sylvari... the sylvari are the spawn of Mordremoth... the sylvari were corrupted by Ventari after Ronan stole a seed from the tree guarded by monstrous plant creatures. Scarlet Briar is what the sylvari were meant to be and the nightmare court seek to remove the corruption of Ventari and Ronan.

What I'm getting from this is that it could very well be that Glint was the one who showed Rytlock how to channel legends from the mists. It'd fit well with her previous actions where she puts the right people and knowledge in play. Rytlock gets her power, Caithe gets her egg... Could it be that the new Guardian elite specialization is called Dragonhunter because of Glint as well? Logan is a guardian...

Wonderful lore video WP just wonderful. As to the Elite Spec name, I really don't see Flameseeker being a choice since that prophecy was fulfilled, I can see some sort or Mist themed name for it like Envoy as mentioned in another comment, or perhaps Mist Warden taken form a title earned from Hall of Monument rewards. Guess we'll find out Friday now. As for what Glint may have perhaps of hidden in the Jungle for us to find aside from the baby we saved back in GW1 we will find the Forgotten as you mentioned, but in a new form. What will the chances be if the Exalted (when maxing out their mastery) turn out to be descendents of the Forgotten?

RU-vid randomly recommending me this video so many years later and it is quite interesting how, for example, at 18:20 , you go over what went on with LWS2, and pretty much hit the nail on the head with what happened since with the story - with Aurene being there to balance all the magic of the world after each dragon death. Sweet sweet~

Perhaps that's where Caithe went. She took Glint's egg to Glint's child. I mean it's clear in GW1 that it had survived. Maybe it's been hiding in the Maguma Jungle/Wastes all this time. It's a far fetch theory, but and interesting one I think.

Thanks alot for this awesome and informatic video WP. As you speculate about the name of this Elite Specilisation i really liked the fact that you mentioned Oracle as the Elite Specilisation. I recently finished the second Book of Guild Wars 2 and it said that Glint is indeed an Oracle and i would love to make this thing a thing , you know :D Thanks again for these great videos youre putting out. I don't have any time to play GW1 ( although i have it ) and these little bits of lore is really really great to have. Thanks Alot WP !

What if the young dragon is the Shatterer? I don't think we can only channel glint. Rytlock uses shiro skills, and staff on the launch trailer, so that kinda undermines the single legend focus for the mechanics. But all in all, i don't know what they could add. Maybe a F3 where you get like a mesh of both equipped legends? Or maybe it doesn't really change anything deeply, just something like Tempest where you get a "deeper" connection with your legend and you can actually summon it in the form of an attack (kind of what Rytlock does in the in-game cut-scene with glint).

Since you named the Lunar New Year Fireworks they went up like from 65 c -> 85 c in price and rising fast. I am so thankful for this since I own 80% of all those in the game as a long term HoT investment.

Still never told us in game WHO actually gave the egg to the master of peace. We can have dialogue with Stonehealer, and he say's something along the lines of "someone we've met before," or "someone who will be revealed to us soon," can't remember which lol. But they never say a name, that I am certain. Perhaps it is this "E" person we keep getting messages from? Though it sounds like E does dealings more with Human issues, rather than mystical-elder-dragon-secrets stuff...

I've only recently read sea of sorrows and edge of destiny but hearing you read that excerpt was so strange. Even it someone's had this spoiled for them I'd recommend both books, sea of sorrows more so

Something that I had to test was I rolled up a thief for the beta. I then used Poison Share and Basilisk Venom. In the event where the husks marched up the stairs the Revenant hammer knock down did 25% of the the break bar, the main hand sword chill did 10%, but the Pistol/Pistol Thief with Basilisk Venom shared with a Memser wielding a greatsword ate through 100% in under a second.

What is this, a Guild Wars lore video? I was told this would never happen!

Also in one of the books I believe in EoTN or in GW2 Priory the book says: We believe we can make it (her; Glint) an Elder Dragon. I believe the Brotherhood of The Dragon were trying to help Glint become an Elder Dragon to have that power on their side, or at least combat Kralkatorrik.

I only remembered the EotN baby mission when doing the Zephyrite living world stuff. So I knew it had a connection but, holy shit, much further/deeper than that!! Very interesting to hear how it all ties together. Thank you! Wonder if GW2 Flameseeker Prophecies legendary had an impact on Revenant's elite weapon choice :O Just realized how fitting it is.

Yay! I'm so glad that right after the beta they are swinging right back into more news... A little weird that we are getting the rev spec 5th but I love revenant so no complaints here!

Flameseeker would be an awesome Elite Spec for Ritualist. ...or maybe Dragonheeder to compliment the Guardian's Dragonhunter. :P

There might be a parallel with the pale tree with her/it protecting the the Sylvari, somehow the seed must have been cleansed of Mordremoth's corruption

Weird out there theory - what if Glint's missing child from GW1 became the Shatterer?

I wonder what traits it would get...What if glints traits revolved around energy management and getting advantages specifically tied to how much energy you have?

Something I'm wondering about is if any of the mentors will die. I mean if one of the mentors (kinda thinking about Caithe right about now) died in the story, Anet might see it as a loss for everyone who plays that race. I can't help but feel like the mentors could be invincible because plot. I hope that is not the case because we'll reach a point where we just don't care any more.

I think for reve spec the best name would be a Phantom. Phantom always sounded more like a majestic kind of ghost thing, more tanky then anything else and more dangerous.

Never really played gw1 but I watched lots of your lore vids and since Rytlock is able to go to the mist and back to Tyria (not dead and resurrected or reanimated) maybe The Mistwalker sounds appropriate?

You can use the Assassin skill Dash as a Gw1 version of superspeed :D

Possible name for the revenant elite spec: battle seer, since seers were one of the old races of Tyria.

So what if the thing Glint left for the players in the jungle is the ritual to cleanse the dragon corruption? From what we see in the trailer Rytlock opens the doors to what could be a gilded city or temple. It could be a way to free the Sylvari that mordremoth turned. If Glint could be freed than maybe there is hope for the rest of the dragon minions.

the pale tree is slightly prophetic herself, giving the heroes in LS2 a vision of the future. It's not as strong as glint and I believe the pale tree doesn't see it as strongly as glint does - her's is also more vague; and I believe it is communed through the dream which she does not strongly understand herself. This seems to be a thing with "female counter parts to their elder dragons." The pale tree to Mordy, Glint to Kralk. The great destroyer didn't seem organic as she was a baby factory. As a lore buff, I'm happy WP.

Here is something I have heard very little discussion on: The Elder Dragons are supposed to be consuming huge quantities of magic right? What about the Bloodstones? They were specifically created to contain and control the different schools of magic. Why haven't the Bloodstones been targeted (as far as we know) by the Dragons? Could they possibly have any relation to the Dragons, though they were created by the gods?

Hey WP, in this video you mentioned that Glint's baby dragon's name was Gleam. Well there's an NPC in Dry Top named Gleam. Coincidence?

Maybe the mursaat and Glint made a deal, she saved them from the dragons and they granted her future sight. They are called "Eyes that watch all".

I'm still curious about her egg. I was expecting that to be covered during living world but there was no resolution to that :/

Glint knew she was going to die; she was prophetic. I think she foresaw her own death so it would not surprise me that she used a back up plan to keep herself and the future safe: the dwarves, the egg, the hero in GW1, the tension of the races not getting along, she was always steps ahead. Dragons are super intelligent and thorough. Look at Mordremoth, using the dream as a conduit to influence the Sylvari through the dream, making Sylvari believe it was Zhaitan we needed to kill - get him out of the way so as to leave the magic to return into the world and have one less piece of competition. Mordy even has more intelligent minions who actually speak coherent sentences, are extremely aggressive, etc. lemme know your opinions WP!

Btw. Does anyone know if the Shiro voice actor in Gw2 is the same as in Gw1? And one more qustion. Since we can hear ambient talk from the Itzel and Nuhoch. Does that mean they speak new Krytan? Because we can understand them, but when we go to the special vendors, we can't?

Why is it that for utility skills, there are 4 of a skill type (Trap, well, shout, etc.) for each class, but only 3 skills for revenant? wouldn't it make sense to have 4 utility skills for each legend, and letting you choose 3 of those to use?

well, revenant means someone who has returned, supposedly from death. I think the elite might be named closer to eidolon, sounds pretty epic to me.

(Spoilers for anyone who's new to GW2) Knowing what I know now with PoF, I can definitely say I know who that baby dragon was, (Not Aurene, obviously hehe). But if Glint had a nest full of eggs, Aurene's egg, can't have been the only one she hid... I bet my bottom dollar that her baby from GW1 was Vlast...

WoodenPotatoes What do you think about removing shatters from Chronomancer?

I our use of the Altar in Arah fixed in the story? Shouldn't we be using it on an industrial scale to cleanse everything we can get our hands on or will we just ignore it and say we only had the power to cleanse chickens? Shouldn't the Dragons really want that Altar destroyed as its been show to work on 2 different dragon corruptions. Also if you put a Sylvari on that Altar would it die, be cut off from the dream and Mord? Seems a rather dangerous thing to just be sitting around - weird Zhaitan didn't destroy it, I guess Kralk didn't mention Glint to him.. The Pale Tree didn't go through the ritual though, so there seems to be other ways to cleanse (are we assuming she was a Dragon minion that was just never properly programmed - but then she knew about her true purpose and just hid it so she must have been cleansed in some way or was given the information about her purpose just never got to the mindcontrolled slave stage..) I might stop before I fall down a plot hole and hurt myself..
