Something to note - there are a few sets of easy, TP-buyable Berserker's gear that'll cost you no more than 3-5 gold. Those are the Devona's set (~4g 1s, heavy), the Nika's set (4g 36s, medium), and the Zhed's set (2g 96s [!!!], light). You'll probably have more than enough gold to buy these outright once you hit 80 - if you don't, 2-3 days of dailies will be more than enough to get you there. Don't waste your Bladed Armor boxes and other stat-selectable exotic gear on Berserker's stats!
@@dudder2008 Tracks that have not yet been unlocked don't count. For example, a player who has fully trained the Raptor mastery track and has no other Path of Fire mastery track unlocked will start earning Spirit Shards in Path of Fire and Season 4 maps. taken right from the wiki
New player tip if you don't know a good open world build check out lord hizens builds he makes an entire series of builds designed to solo champions and be tanky while doing lots of damage in open world PvE
Ive done every PvE encounter, normal and challenge. With the action cam. Ive done it in every role dps, tank, support, utility and kiting on all bosses. So you can 100% do everything with action cam.
This is a great guide. I've got some friends that are planning on trying the game out when it hits Steam; I'll definitely be sending this video their ways.
Great guide! Will definitely recommend it to new players. Quick tip: You can right click your utility skills to change them. No need to hit the small arrow above.
This was so useful as a returning player from the days of old. been trying to find resources on this game and its a bit scarce so this was very appreciated. liked and subbed :)
Mega info overload. Loved it! Just swapped to gw2 from my 16yr WoW journey. Still having a hard time even deciding what class to play, they all look and feel amazing!
Man, I haven't played GW2 since before there were even Expansions to it. Decided to jump back into it recently. This video has been super helpful! I feel like I went from drowning, to at least being able to tread water lol. Thank you so much
Thx for this vid. Ive returned to GW2 after years! One question though... I just reached 80 with my newly created ranger and...I cant unlock my elite specks. Is there anywhere I have to go for that?
For the elite specs you’ll need to collect more Hero Points to unlock them first (in the Training tab within your Hero panel) then plug that elite spec into your Build (build tab). You’ll want to do the Hero Challenges in the expansion zones as they net you 10 points each :)
Very useful video man, answers most of the questions in one video! All the same, there is not enough fresh content on the game, especially for beginners. In the meantime, the Steam release is coming soon! However, I started playing just a week ago and this one is just great, where was it before and where was I? Suffered and struggled through other MMOs...
your xp dont vanish. THey go into "hidden" xp bar that is once filled you get spirit shard for mystic toilet recipes. You can see progression of this bar only if you unlocked all masteries in that expansion or central tyria, no xp is wasted
I like that he explained how the boost gear isn't the best, and things taking forever to kill isn't normal. I had that problem when I tried to get into the game. I found everything taking forever to kill and basically quit the game for several months. One of the reasons I quit Warcraft, was because I just hated beating on a mob for a minute at a time. I get that bosses take forever to kill, but I don't want to spend 10 minutes killing 5 mobs just trying to explore a cave. I find early leveling GW2 to be absolutely amazing, as I love to explore everything, but I don't like getting bogged down with non-stop combat as things start respawning as I kill them. It totally ruins exploration for me. That's one thing I liked a lot about open-world FPS games, is that typically when you kill shit, it stays dead long enough to explore around.
do not start end of dragon even if u don't care about the story... always start with Path of Fire because it has 5 mounts that u can unlock and it's very useful to all expansion.... both path of fire and end of dragon are very easy.... the only reason u felt PoF hard because u still have to unlock mounts but once u unlock all the mounts the rest of the game including HoT which the hardest expansion would be easy for you...
Great video! Something really useful to note is the Mystic salvage kit. You can combine one of each salvage kit and 3 Mystic Forge Stones in the mystic forge to get the Mystic salvage kit which has 250 uses and the same tier as the Master's, which makes it around 1.5 gold cheaper than buying the equivalent 10 Master's salvage kits.
I got about a quarter of the way through the video before I realized- Hey, I know that voice! That's Austin the editor for Skill Up's channel! Forgot you had your own channel man. Great video, I've subbed!
Been playing for a bit more than 6 months and found some stuff here very useful still, great video mate! I have yet to start progress on anything outside of Open World / maps and story. I want to try dungeons, fractals and WvW but a bit anxious about that as one of the reasons I stopped playing WoW was because people were playing more like robots (and being arseholes) than humans. Looking forward to part 2! :D
The downsides of horizontal progression have become very obvious. My god. Tbh this all seems needlessly complicated compared to how streamlined every other mmo is. But it doesn’t seem like the community dislikes this stuff. In WoW, if an expansion has just 2-3 new systems the entire community collectively hates on it. But this game filled to the brim with systems on top of systems and it’s received fine.
Great guide! As a new player this really did help to understand a lot. (New to GW2, not MMOS) - Would love to see more. Feel like a new, updated guide linking a ton of wikis could be helpful. Sometimes can just be tough figuring what to do and where to begin
Been playing for about a year now off and on and I didn't know how to search for meta groups with group finder. I just stumbled across them. This is going to be a game changer for PvE.
Agree with everyone else, great content again! Please keep it up :) I’ve been wanting to see this kind of GW content probably as much as you’ve wanted to make it! Not a new player but I love to see the content :)
The equipment I get from the level 80 boost seems to be better than Bladed set? And it takes forever to get when you're new. And you have to wait for a meta event to get the chest piece. Is it really worth it? I thought it'd have some set bonus that makes it better than the equipment you get. It also has less HP... Since the stats are focused, you do get more damage, but it seems your overall survivability is lower.
bro i started with guild wars 2 and then i was interested in endgame. i looked around for content creators and you are probably the most entertaining one. Crispy video
You can gets ascended trinkets, armor and weapons easily by playing wvw and sticking with the Zerg. They cost 5g skirmish points and battles of memory, all which you can receive from just playing wvw. I fully geared ascended by just killing lords and other players 😂
I could have used this back in 2012 when I first tried GW2. I leveled a thief to 80, and was like "now what??" So I gave it up. Back then no expansions and people were still figuring out the game. On returning, there is SO much more content at 80 and just sinking my teeth into all of it.
Good content, I literally JUST started playing today. Thought I would check you out from shillup. I’m going to play the free content then get an expansion on sale lmao. What do you do for ping in oce? I’ve got avg 270ms :(
Welcome!! I don't do anything special - sort of just adjusted to the 250 ping. GW2 certainly doesn't make you /feel/ that ping in the same way as other MMOs, have done all the content just fine with it :)
Go to PvP to test out builds, weapons, stats and elite specs without having to pay or unlock anything! (On the golems) Best way to find a build you like in my opinion. Just it see how it flows and how much damage you do
There's no item level in a moba. But there's absolutely a vertical power level and in the case of lol there is AP/AD which could serve as an item level of sorts. Tough comparison there.
This there a way to see how many condition stacks a skill will do? For example, I was noticing on dagger 1 thief it will cap out at 4 bleeding and 8 poison.
you didn't cover condition stats, say if a new player is on necro scepter you only recommend beserker's/assassin's that damage will be trash. Not every spec/weapon is power stat. and trinkets easy way to get is living world season 3 map currency [winterberry] and some are attached to story achievements.
Yeah this is a good point - I only used power builds as an example because it’s the most common but I probably should’ve clarified. I’ll definitely cover things like power vs condi as well as other roles in Part 2 :)
Great video. I'm one month in and have my first lvl 80. Question - since it's possible to move around the content in any order, do you recommend jumping to certain expansions for their additions? Example - I've seen characters using gliding and it seems like even a basic version of that would be really useful
If you don't care about story continuity then I definitely do recommend that! The 1st mission of Heart of Thorns will get you Gliding and the 1st mission of Path of Fire will get you your first mount :) Alternatively, jumping straight into End of Dragons will give you Gliding, the 1st and 2nd Mounts, as well as all of EoD's new editions!
I'm Very late to the party but I wanted to say Ty for this easy to follow guide for 'What to do at lvl 80.' As a New player, I found this very helpful and it gave me a clearer roadmap for being a New 80 > Mid/late > Endgame. I appreciate the time it took to record, edit & upload your content, you're helping alot of players. Thankyou :) And a fellow Aussie 😊
I've played the below 80 part until this year and now i decided to go beyond(before it was just a small escape from other mmos for me ) now it feels like there are lots of chores so i'm having second thoughts if its worth the boring part (hero points etc.)
I always just farmed the Citadel of flame dungeon for a day to get zerker gear fast because one well executed run took less than 10 minutes or so but I don't know if it is still viable or not, it was years ago.
Thank you!!! As an MMO veteran who really doesnt care for leveling and the story and focuses mostly on pvp and end game content I was personally convinced to boost my first toon to 80 because I didnt wanr go through the grind (and for me it is a grind) of attaining 1 skill at a time and slowly progressing to then encounter a whole new world at 80 anyways. Reddit and RU-vid were quick to tell me I made a mistake instead of actually helping me with a choice I wasnt going to change, and then I saw this. THANK YOU
Wow.. I did not know you could right-click a salvage kit and decon everything. 🤦♂ Also, are you telling me that I'm not advancing at 80 if I don't take some action like choosing a mastery to activate or 'train'? I only recently hit 80, so not a huge loss, but I had no idea.
Of ALL the GW2 content creators that I've watched so far, you are FAR the best at explaining stuff simply to new players! TYVM for this newb friendly content! Regards, a GW2 newb!
Great vid, so happy to see you making more content these days 💖 Would love to see a "how to build your first loadout" video where you run through a generic power build vs. a generic condi build for an example class. Since there are so many ways to acquire gear for an endgame build, I think your opinions here on what's easiest for new players would be welcome!
I appreciate that you tried to make it as simple as possible. But being on lvl 75 on my first character, I still didn't get a lot. Will have to rewatch later. Thanks!
i keep trying to like this game and get into it but even from the beginning, i found it too complex and this video isn't helping me change my mind. the whole free to play thing and the black market or whatever, with all the annoying shit you get tossed in your inventory just turned me off fully after i couldn't get into the missions in the beginning of the game. maybe ill like guild wars 3
ok which armor is that? the new heavy set for cantha or is specific for some map? I can only recognize the shoulders been from the willbender elite spec collection
despite me getting lost in all this info, and its A LOT to take in, I like the video's, you are also very well articulated so its easy to listen! Thanks for the work you put in!
