What I personally don't understand is why is he waiting for a sequal to a game he's barely explored 10% of?

something you have to consider about SotO being a "mini" expantion. the first instalment was 10 chapters and there will be 3 more content updates coming through out the next year. that being said EoD was 18 chapters. if the 3 updates just have 3 chapters each it will be longer than EoD.

In my point of view as veteran,I like the new reward system,it gives opportunity for the new players to close the gaps a-little bit quicker than before. Story arc is awesome and enthusiastic for new weapon options on different classes especially warrior with staff and Sword with Necro🤔

9:55 fair assessment on maps, as I haven't finished any character mapping I some times wish it was account-wide - considering I keep switching my main and starting over! But I love the rewards I am getting ...

Lazy is the key part of his name. I feel like he half asses games and posts reviews. His bit about armor not being changeable when it is if you put in the time (Which as a part timer myself I'm painfully aware of this), but I hate that he knocks the game for an obvious thing if he bothered to do a google search. His bag comment, I want to see his bag's in world of warcraft.

The guy didn't even read about anything in game. The fact he went and bought relics instead of opening one of the free chests proves that. It's no surprise he doesn't like it when he doesn't understand anything.

Great response Muk! I think many GW2 players watched The Lazy Peon's video and was frustrated about the lack of information. I know in MightyTeapot also remarked on this in his latest stream, but thank you for taking the time to clarify things.

Impressed by the fact that all the things The Lazy Peon thinks would "improve" the game would basically ruin it for everyone that currently likes it. Think he'd be happier playing the latest version of _Call of Duty..._

I usually like watching videos on first impressions of gw2 because you get to see a fresh mind diving into this game and experiencing it for the first time, it’s refreshing and they genuinely want to know more about it. However in his case I freaking hated it, not only that he seemed to have played the game long enough to get his characters looking like that and have 96 mastery points, it’s the fact that he has played the game long enough and know completely NOTHING about it and doesn’t even seem interested to even figure it out even if it was right in front of him. He legit gave me a headache lol. He shouldn’t be doing first impression videos if he doesn’t even make an effort to research more about the game, like for god’s sake we have a wiki!

Another couple weird things he seemed to not know about but also somewhat showed on screen, was that he complained about having to fork over a ton of gold to get new decent gear, after he showed on screen that you can get ascended gear super easy through the wizard's vault just doing dailies and weeklies. Then in addition to legendary gear on his inventory complaint with having alternate gear sets, is that he can also just load up gear templates to instantly swap, and it keeps those extra sets of gear out of his bags.

TLP: "Guild Wars 2 doesn't have a meaningful gear progression. I like gear progressions." Also TLP: "Just get rid of all gear so there is literally no gear progression..."

Complaining that map completion isn't account wide is like complaining that your Alts have things to do.

His costs of buying sounds a lot like hes buying "berserkers" rather than buying sets with berserkers stats.

A lot of his points are just so uninformed and I hate that people will agree with his itemization hot take (while complaining that there is not enough geargrind to keep him interested, huh?), not knowing many of the issues are really not issues if you spent a few more minutes looking into things (besides open world peeps not even needing hyper optimized builds to work and him just not being comfortable with ele/cata)

Muk not to be rude but all of his videos are like this. He makes videos about literally EVERY mmo he can find. Ofc he has no actual insight of any of the games because he just plays a few hours / days of each game, reads a quick summary about the game and makes a video. From my experience you need like at least 2 months of playing an mmo to start actaully understanding the game and like 4-6 months of playing to actually point out real issues with the game. You cant do that if you need to make a video about any and all mmorpgs

@muklukRU-vid Am sad that people with this huge platforms don't give the game a fair chance because of their wow mentality. The only person who really gave it a chance is Preach and his opinion is valid.

You know, even if not everyone is enjoying everything about gw2 at the moment, I’m super glad people seem to be checking it out quite a bit right now. I’ve seen a lot of “gw2 in 2023” videos lately, and the game deserves the attention IMO. It’s not for everyone for sure, but I think a lot of the people it is for aren’t aware it’s for them at the moment, so the exposure is nice.

Honestly, I do not like the tone of that video from Peon. He seems desinteressted from the start instead of giving Gw2 a fair new try!

I was really disappointed at Peon for this video. Thanks a lot for replying to it Mukluk! It felt like GW2 was the unlucky game he choose to poor his mid life crisis on.

To be honest, LazyPeon's review just completely backfired. A little more care and attention in his review would have solved so much. Right now it's more like "bored teenager plays game he doesn't like for an hour" - this completely invalidates (for me, at least) his entire channel. A review or a look into a game is something that takes some time. If you're not getting into a game, or feel bored, or aren't in the right mindspace for it, simply don't do it. His entire video just screams "I didn't want to do this review" and to be honest, I expect better from him.

Muk, I think you made a mistake during this reaction. You skipped the part where Peon put the most effort in - the sponsorship.

To clarify Mukluk's clarification of world exploration rewards, he said at 9:40 , "There are people who will make new characters, do map exploration, and then they will sell those gifts (of exploration from completing all core Tyria maps) for just tons and tons of in-game money." It should be noted: Those gifts of exploration are account bound and cannot be sold to another player directly. What's more, they require other account bound materials in order to be upgraded to a Gift of Mastery (which is also still account bound). In order to sell it for in-game gold, the player has to essentially provide a service instead of handing the gift over to another player directly. The person who wants to hire someone for this service comes up with a pre-cursor item, all the ingredients for a Gift of Fortune, and all the ingredients for the legendary specific gift required to make the actual Legendary item, and then just mails all that wealth over to the player with the Gift of Mastery. Then the player with the Gift of Mastery fully assembles the pieces into a Legendary item and sends the Legendary back through the mail to the person who is purchasing the service. Then he gets paid for providing his Gift of Mastery. This requires a lot of trust from both parties and most people won't be able to get into this sort of thing to make money themselves without someone else vouching for them, who already does this. It's a very exclusive group of players.

I don't respect Peon after this. If this is the quality of his GW2 review how can I trust his reviews of other MMOS? I don't expect him to grind for legendary armor, but I expect him to know it exists. He should be able to mention that SotO allows you to grind for it solely in open world if you hate the other gamemodes. He might then say he'd prefer to get it in WVW. It sounds like a lot of his information is out of date (such as legendarys being mostly only cosmetic) and he simply hasn't bothered to research anything. The only value of his review is to see what isn't intuitive for new players- ie. his relic issues.

Great job being informative and maybe helping out new players. In my case I would have ripped him a new one cuz I think he does a dishonest job of presenting and reviewing the game

Map completion is my bread and butter with playing GW2, love doing it!! Except for the few stealth and the bunny heart... those are just attrocious. RE: Dagda fight.. Skill issue honestly, not a hard fight or one that requires any specific build - though the build doesn't help.

Another thing I want to add RE: bag wars 2, every time he shows an inventory and complains about it, I can immediately see white gear that he is never going to need, unopened lootboxes and, as you mentioned, junk items. There are also a lot of un-deposited materials, which I would guess comes from a small mat storage. Which is fine, but you can craft and/or sell that.

The Hot Take regarding the Inventory... I mean, that isn't an issue of the game, that's just an issue of how you organize your inventory, really I have 11 characters and all of them have a clean inventory, no matter what content I do with them, because I just keep it clean...which takes about 20-30sec (at max) every time I do this.

It's amazing to me how he had the gall to make this video without even trying to understand the game.

Sub 100 masteries Guy that probably hasn't even spent 20 hours of gameplay per expansion: "It's time for Guild Wars 3." Makes quirky remarks about how much stuff there is for cosmetic monetization, when he really should be mentioning that you can buy ANYTHING for ingame gold (and his own account has most of its value in the 2 skins he obviously swiped for himself). I get that he plays a lot of different games and everyone to his opinion, but this just feels so ignorant. There should be a moment of truth where you realize that you have not spent enough time on a longtime MMO like GW2 to give a credible opinion - especially when you review games as a job.

If he doesn't like PVE and don't play PVE .. don't make video having opinions about PVE.. one day, i was watching a runescape 3 review , by lazypeon, he always says that one of the major issues of rs3 is because it's progression is so fast, and then.. he recommeded to play as ironman character ( that has no acess to any trade, auction house or something similar, that has slower progression compared to others normal accounts ). So he started a new character on ironman settings to review the state of rs3 .. and saw that the progression was more slow than it was before ( they nerfed xp gain ) , , he went back to his main maxed account, and sayed that the " fast progression " was something that he liked in rs3 , and now they nerfed it. After this, I cant take his reviews serious.

Mukluk masteries are only really more leveling nothing to "experience" the game forces you to level some up too. Most exploration rewards individually suck alot the only thing thats lucrative is the gifts of exploration for making gold. Gw2 graphics are outdated now comparing it to other mmos or games characters look very meh textures and lightings too. The dude played 30minutrs of the story bcz its boring. Gw2 isnt for everyone i used to enjoy it but i find it very boring and stale.

Another point about gearing for WvW is that it's a different kind of group content. New WvWers aren't expected to immediately fill a role perfectly. A player with full orange and no elite specs can do just fine running with a good group and paying attention to the gameplay. Can that player solo everything? Will that player feel like they're making a huge difference? Not necessarily. Can they have fun, learn the game, and make progress towards higher numbers? Absolutely. imo, having that room to grow feels really good. I get the feeling TheLazyPeon wouldn't like GW3 unless Blizzard makes it...

after seeing this i checked out that guys reviews on other games like WoW, Destiny etc and i really ask myself how did he get that amount of followers, for most games he takes a little look into it and takes asumptions about the rest with statements that make any long time player nothing but angry. Well done Muk to make things clear here.

The only valid criticism he made in this review is the ambient chatter overlapping the story NPCs' dialogs. But I still can't imagine getting that annoyed over it. I just read the chat bubbles no problem. Also the hide from Cerus story instance was easy as fuck idk why he was struggling that much lol.

What an abhorrent review. I would genuinely feel ashamed if I had posted this. It's unfortunate that only veterans will know just how wrong he is about... pretty much everything he has said. I wonder if he has any integrity at all. Muk was too easy on him.

I dont understand why people keep saying Guild Wars 3, what do they think this game would "solve". Wasn't this also one of the people prior to EOD in their press releases that were saying "EOD is the last gw2 expansion"

You ALWAYS clean up your bags before log out... You never know when you may log out and not log back in for a very, very long time unexpectedly, and then get stuck dealing with a broken brain. For me, the only part of the world completion I want to be account wide is waypoints... Hearts, Vistas, Locations and Hero Points are more than enough for map completion. Separate waypoints off into their own completion/achievement and then make it account wide. I actually really want to play alts... But I don't want to go through and run (ride) to each and every single waypoint again... I also don't want to spend money on unlocking them for every single character!... Like, make, it accounts wide if you buy it... geese

Videos like this are why I stopped watching Peon years ago. Seems like he hasn't changed much since at least. Very impatient, easy to frustrate, only cares about combat and will always skip through any story if he can. The fact he couldn't let go of liking vertical progression so much doomed him of any positive opinion of the current state of GW2.

I started to take what he say with a grain of salt after FF14, where he said that he bought the skip the story thing in the cash shop.

Weapon Master is the biggest reason I bought the latest exp. Edit: AND the ability to get to all of the old dungeons from Lions Arch. I really enjoy soloing old dungeons and that one thing is amazing.

Guild Wars 2 is the most free to play experience I had in any MMORPG game. And game is fun to play, you don't need any chair or novelties skins like LazyPeon tells you, it's useless cosmetics anyway. It is coming from a guy who don't really play MMORPGs.

Yah that catalyst build really designed to be group play only. Catalyst has great survivability if you are running a open world build/celestial.

gw3 too much of a gamble. too different aside for art and graphic people may not like it and lose player. too similar people like lazy peon will not liked it (he really dislike the gearing system for some reason)

I think GW2's graphics is even better than other modern MMOs. GW2 still for me the best true MMO that respects players' time and overall gameplay. EDIT : Proper Housing would be a great addition though :)

So dang many content creators do this (content creation) as a job amd are forced to icing layer view everything. Which means that most of their opinions are barely usable as a real resource. Anytime I hear anyone use graphics as an excuse to not like something my opinion takes a nose dive. Bleeding edge graphics are not a good thing, and many games in the past few years that pushed hard on graphics were just glorified tech demos at the best of times when they worked (Cybepunk 2077 for example). As far as Peon's argument about open world... the maps are huge in GW2. Some of them can be said to be too huge. And World of Warcraft still has its loading zones if he's using that as his benchmark. Honestly, find that more of a detraction in games these days with the push for "seamless" open world as you just end up with a game with a lot of dead space instead or if they are filling things in, a lot of that stuff happening that doesn't make as much sense as you think it should or a lot of copy pasta (again WoW prime example of this as if you gone into one open cave you gone into them all there). I don't get this argument of the story either, that seems to be missing the forest for the trees but again he seems to have put minimal effort in. As far as too horizontal I m just confused. The thing I like is not having to deal with the rat race anymore. The idea of if I miss a major patch or Gat forbid, an expansion, I am not going to be so hopelessly behind and all the hard work I put in is just a joke. I don't like that in the modern MMO mindset where that legendary item I busted my ass for in the previous expansion, is barely equivalent to a blue item in the next expansion. Also his guild wars 3 thing I dunno why he is hoping for that. It's clear he doesn't want to put effort into the game if all he is going to do is an hour at best. So what would a guild wars 3 solve for him?

Guild Wars 3 should be a Single Player Action Adventure Story Driven Game that lets ArenaNet experiment with gameplay not possible in an MMO settings like Guild Wars 2. It would be cool to see a new setting were characters from Tyria become space traveling species like in Mass Effect / Star Wars. It could also have coup features. Something that can be easily ported to consoles for additional revenue and help people get interest in GW2.

I got the boss youre not supposed to kill to about 30% hitpoints. but i was also playing a necro, so the shroud and other stuff defo helped a bit.

I like doing map completion. When Ihave particularly stressful times in real life, I do a walkabout and whoever wants to join in walking through the roads of Tyria, just strolling can usually we have to take on the boss but that’s OK. I don’t think enough credit is given to the people who actually designed the look of the game. If you can’t remember, when the last time is you walk through Tyria ,try it. Credit to Goa And Mika who got me into this.

Dude really wants GW3…. For what. He lists all these pros but his whole video just seems like he hates the game, let alone plays it. So many things in there of him just not knowing something and immediately shitting on it or saying it’s bad. Some of his concerns are legit, but it’s kind of upsetting his opinion of the game because it seems like he doesn’t even play the game but just spvp and wvw, and doesn’t even grasp concepts like reading mail, or literally reading anything. Legendary crafting can fix the gear issue but not the grind/barrier issue. I have played since launch with exotic gear and handle above average in most content but general players dont feel or see it that way. if they engage in content and loose they will put that loss on disadvantage with stats and armor ect. I have played for over 10 years and still have not even gotten a full set of ascended gear because its rather annoying, let alone being forced into maxing crafting which i hate to then produce some legendary armor. granted if i had legendary armor 99% of what i spend gold on i would never buy which is armor and stats and my characters most wouldnt exist. i have over 15 warriors these days which in olden times i remade constantly each filled with custom builds specific for certain tests which required hundreds if not thousands of gold. I have potentially put in more time and effort than players who crafted legendary armor since i also dont tend to engage in repetitive gold farming events. At this rate i will never have a full legendary or ascended set of gear and still compete competitively in high end pvp events most of which actually dont give any rewards. Take the old pvp custom match dueling for instance that was popular after launch. Ill always be at a disadvantage compared to other players which is fine for me but other players who have simular playstyles to me simply wont play because they dislike the grind. In gw1 for example you would speed rush to end level gear in something like 4 hours. fully max your character and be good to go. Then you could team and beat every game fairly quickly in 1 or 2 sittings and enjoy your rewards and customize your character. Players played gw1 for years and still will play it now because of that freedom. The key to gw1 wasnt a grind to get gear unless you went for specific rare end game cosmetics but it was the end game build creation and style that would require a day or 2 to form for a character. One of the few games i can ever recall that you didnt feel gut punched if you had to delete and remake a character because you could start from 0 and max out and remake your full character in a very short period of time and this is where titles like survivor became a big deal. you would see players with these titles that required a lot of effort to grind and be like damb that is a god player right there even if you had the same gear on. or you would fight someone and decipher their build like holy crap i just got recked what was that skill combo he had and then go out into the world to find skills to make your own counter. fulled endless play

Upgrading bags doesn't fix the stupid amount of junk items this game has. And then you have the bank and material storage which are just another level of loot insanity. No one likes coming home from the supermarket and emptying the bags just to put stuff back onto other shelves. That's what playing GW2 feels like. It's tedious and not fun. And the salvage... Who the heck likes these sort of things in a game...

I agree with most things with you Muk, but saying that "You can buy waypoints on the gem store and buy gems with gold" is kinda silly. It's 2000 gems for central Tyria and that's pretty steep a price for people to play on an alt especially if they don't play too much. (I personally love doing map completion though and think that exploration is a core aspect of the game compared to other MMOs). Also absolutely hilarious that he complains so much about gear on WvW and on the next patch we get cheap selectable stat gear on the vendors.

That man honors his nickname, Lazy, and also, dumb. It's a video full of misinformation and criticism just because the guy is extremely lazy and he wants all free or easy to get. It's ridiculous taking LazyPeon as a MMO authority, when he barely plays the games he reviews.

In terms of story and map design, SOTO is plain stupid. They made an expansion that invalidates ground mounts. EOD and this made the great story just dumb. But the game is still amazing. I just hope this new direction won't ruin it...

LazyPeon has developed his personality and job around the topic of playing as many games as possible. The problem is he plays MMOs which are games that require from you to invest time first. That makes 95% of his opinions on this video completely wrong and misinformed but sadly he is really famous and because of his persona he is considered a master of MMOs cause he plays so many so to many people his opinion is valid but in reality he has no idea of what he is talking! He is a menace for the gaming community

Well I don't mind LazyPeons reaction about GW2 since he is just a new player people need to chill with the comments cause it is his opinion as a new player. Those MPs, Legendary Gears, and other QOL items are not available to a new player so Lazy Peons take are actually true.

I feel like it's also worth mentioning how they give you loot in this game. They give you currencies from everywhere that you can turn into gold to buy what you want, or you can turn into the item you want. Most games just drop you a armor or weapon and this game tends to not do that, which seems lost on him

I want a search browser in map menu where I can type in keywords to highlight certain things after I unlock visibility in explored areas/zones.

Here's hoping the new meta is Mukluk continuing to make react videos, this was excellent.

I agree with peon its annoying coming back and trying to get back into wpvp and not having the right gear then spending gold. Doesnt legndary gear cost real money to farm? And getting into raiding is so hard in gw2 its not even worth it to try and get ascended

There are toooo many methods to get gear. It all needs consolidating and some gear stats need deleting in general. A lot of exotics should be stat selectable too in line with stuff like Bladed armour from Verdent brink (one time stat select). Things need a bit of housekeeping. i dont agree with his hot take but bi do think there should be a middle ground between what we have now , and the armory... though i dont know the solution

The expansion is also not finished, we only got the first part of it. Finally they started a PvE Legendary armor what we can also start working on right now and even if it will take me probably another 10 years to get there, at least there is the option now.

To be fair LP is coming from as another regular mmo player not a gw2 player. So his views are a majority of people who don’t know gw2. Personally, i didn’t know about legendaries until I did more research into the game. Which the average player might not even do.

Your response is great but you need to clarify legendary armor specifically not being universally available to every character and that it depends on the armor weight the class uses. So if you made heavy legendary armor for a warrior or a guardian, you cannot use that armor on your necromancer/mesmer/elementalist as they use light armor. To truly reach universal availability for all classes, you need to craft at least 3 entire sets of legendary armor, one for each armor weight. Legendary accessories and weapons however have no such restrictions, so a lot of people prefer going for those first.
