Regarding a couple of things you mentionned: - NCSoft is just the publisher, they have ZERO involvement with the development of the game, everything is done by ArenaNet. - The "quiet confirmation" of Guild Wars 3 comes from an NCSoft shareholder meeting where a speaker said that work had started on a sequel. This is very very early news and there is ABSOLUTELY NO chance that game would come out in 2025, we're minimum 5 years away from a release at best. No idea where you heard that from.😅 - Your random disconnects were most definitely caused by the Steam Client, 99% of playters use the original ArenaNet client, whereas the steam one is quite new and as a result is gonna be prone to more bugs in comparison.
@@ThisisNasko the commenter above is right. GW3 is at least 5yrs away. ANet was founded in 2000 and released GW1 in April 2005. in January 2007 they decided to develop GW2 and worked on it for over 5yrs, releasing it in August 2012.
And you are absolutely right. GW2 community is one of the best communities I've been part of. They are so encouraging, helping and always support new players! And do continue the series :D at your own pace ya. Do mix up with other games time to time so you don't fall into slump
Ive played GW1, from 2006 till 2011, and now over 3 years into GW2. The community is almost criminaly friendly. Dient experienced it any better in other games
10:21 the spear was a strictly _aquatic weapon_ for the past 12yrs. next Friday (June 27th) we can test the spear on land. it will get available to use on land with the release of the next expansion on August 20th, 2024. every class gets unique spear skills.
Level cap is at 80. Those high numbers you see are mastery ranks and they are account wide. Once a character hits level 80 the mastery rank is displayed instead of the individual characters level. As for tips: don't be afraid of map chat, most players are really friendly and like to help out. If you can't figure something out "/wiki" is your friend. Just type it right into the ingame chat The game is not great at tutorials, but the wiki is amazing. And if you decide to get the expansions, be prepared to be overwhelmed. I got the elder dragon saga all at once and it was a LOT at first. But after I took a deep breath, decided what I want to focus on first and ignored the rest untill I got there, it was a lot of fun.

We are going to have a beta test for new upcoming weapon next week ( June 27 at 9:00 a.m. until June 30 at 10:00 p.m. Pacific Time (UTC-7)) \O/ You are going to have 3 more new character slots(unless they change rule this time lol) those are temporary slots so sadly you can't keep anything after beta. BUT you can try out ALL the spec that only available when you have the expansion. So please, if you have time don't for get to log in to check out, they will unlock all the class specializations and give you a couple sets of gears as well as a very big inventory xD So you don't have to only play one thing you can test as many as you wish^^ PS. if you have a lot of fun and run out of gears, no worry, just delete the character and create a new one then you will receive another set of gears to test^^
I've always played the game using the official game launcher. My friend plays the steam version and told me it has a number of bugs and or issues. Disconnects, crashes, and audio sync issues especially during cut scenes are common. I don't know if they've fixed these issues since the steam launch but I hope the rest of your exp goes smoothly.
The level 1 to 80 is basically a tutorial, Don't skip it, it's for you to learn your class and basic game mechanics. The real game and systems start after Level 80. Raids, Fractals, Strikes, Masteries, Mounts, etc
If you like exploration, GW2 is a great exploration experience IMO. You'll get a trial mount at level 10, and the mounts are great! But I always suggest that people try exploration without a mount at first, if you like that sort of thing - you appreciate the world and the details to a much greater extent. If that's not for you, then mount away! I think others have said, but that little snippet about GW3 has been widely misunderstood. We know they are working on a future title in the Guild Wars universe - that's about it. And they're making a lot of investment to the core systems of GW2, which wouldn't make sense if they were planning on switching anytime soon. Welcome to Tyria, glad you're enjoying the game so far! you want tips from a vet? do what you like and ignore the rest. the game is vast (not just in map space) and offers so many ways to entertain yourself. the whole leveling phase to lv80 is more like one long tutorial - and over in no time. take it as a chance to get familiar with the game mechanics and the particulars of your class, learn the skills, collect heropoints (to fill the trait lines). don't follow the personal story if that is not your cup of tea and just explore, explore, explore. even as a new player you have access to sPvP and WvW (OpenPvP), some restrictions may apply for f2p accounts. try that if you want. you get elevated to max lv in PvP arenas and have access to all skills regardless of your progress in PvE and open world content. enjoy!

keep going buddy, gw2 is an awesome game, i enjoyed alot and from time to time i come back to it, i dont play too much these days because i liked to play with some friends and they had to stop playing and i eventually stopped too, but its one of those that i never uninstall of my pc, and one day i will craft my legendary weapon (its an old personal goal, i know i can just farm gold and buy it on market ^^)
I've played quite a bit of GW and have not experienced disconnects. Pretty good game in my opinion. But for some reason it's never kept me interested for long periods of time, and I'm really not sure why. I think one of the things for me is wanting to be a completionist and so there are certain things to discover in each area so its like 0/20 places. I tend to want to go find all those places to complete the number but then I get bored lol.
I appreciate you watching! To be fair both games are very good. It just depends on which one will get you hooked. Ive played FF14 for a year, and my experience was good. And both have free trials.
Both FF14 and GW2 are great MMOs but for different reasons. So the answer depends on what you enjoy. FF14 has probably the best storytelling in the MMORPG genre and is also strong in instanced group content, but the open world experience is a bit lacking. FF14 also has vertical progression (I'll explain it below). It is also subscription based. GW2 has a focus on open world content, exploration and brings players together with open world events which chain to so called meta events and boss fights you probably haven't seen in any other game in the open world. Story telling starts a bit slow but has some great moment. Instanced content is decent, but there is not as much of it as in FF14. GW2 has horizontal progression and has no subscription fee, but you have to buy the expansions. There is an ingame shop with cosmetics and convenience, but not really pay to win. This means you can stop playing and jump right back in whenever you want, no additional costs or "I paid for this months, so I better play" guilt trips here. On vertical vs. horizontal progression: Vertical progression means with each expansion the character levels increase and with it also item levels. Part of your motivation is to get the strongest gear. Horizontal progression doesn't increase player levels or item levels. Instead you unlock more options or non-combat related abilities - like unlocking different mounts, gliding, and also different skins for your weapon and armor in case of GW2. Horizontal progression in GW2 also means, you don't fall behind in level or gear if you take a break. What both games have in common is a welcoming community and a strong "fashion game" and don't expect you to play all the time - though you can if you want.
They are working on another project in house that is suppose to take place in Tyria. Now on the other hand it being another mmo is just speculation, my guess is they will diversify and make a connected game in another genre.
For the ultimate MMO experience type "/wiki et". It will pop-up all timers for the world bosses and give a try for most of them. Core Tyria ones are not the most elaborate ones, but still give a bit of fun. The one nearest you is Svanir Shaman.
1:02 wait, you just selected a US server. how does it work with the Steam client? using the typical ANet launcher would connect you to their servers in the US resulting in a higher ping if you are logged in from a place far away. EU servers are placed in Frankfurt, Germany and offer better connections for almost everyone not in the Americas. doesn't it matter anymore when using the Steam client?
