MANY THANKS!
We enjoy a wonderful day in Guildford, Surrey, England, exploring Victoria Station in London, Guildford Station, High Street, Stoke Park, Merrow Park, Guildford Castle gardens, streets, shops, the old Angel Hotel Posting House, and others.
Alfred the Great, the first Anglo-Saxon king of unified England, named the town in his will. Guildford was the location of the Royal Mint from 978 until part-way through the reign of William the Conqueror.
Guildford is a large town in Surrey, England, located 27 miles (43 km) southwest of central London on the A3 trunk road midway between the capital and Portsmouth.
The town has a population of just over 137,000 and is the seat of the wider Borough of Guildford which had an estimated 146,100 inhabitants in 2015.
Guildford has Saxon roots and historians attribute its location to the existence of a gap in the North Downs where the River Wey was forded by the Harrow Way. In the 20th century, the University of Surrey and Guildford Cathedral, an Anglican cathedral, were added.(International Copyright by CIMware USA, Inc., www.cimwareukandusa.com. All rights reserved!)

Ah yes, a very fine coverage of Guildford, a wonderful environment. My direct family came from that area & although I was born in Reading & resided there for 28 years, on marriage, my wife & I started our life just seven miles from the town. It is always a pleasure to visit Guildford, I have travelled fairly widely & I still consider it to be one of the very best.

At the end 'Quakers Acre' you missed the memorial to the five people who lost their lives in the Guildford pub bombings 5 October 1974. The plaque is built into the left wall surrounding the garden area. The Horse and Groom pub which is almost directly opposite was rebuilt but not as a pub. The Quakers meeting house is also across the road directly opposite the garden.

Very good. I lived there for a few years and go back for visits. You have done a very good job of showing places that people who live there don't normally see. Why the VIP in the title?
