NO DOUBT one of the very greatest games of all time. Should be included in ANY top 10 list. The replayability of this game was phenomenal, the fighters were all incredible, the songs perfectly matched those stages, everything was perfect. The arcade version of this game was the videogame equivalent to Crack addiction (and it got even worse with those 3D0, SNES and Genesis versions!).
Beautiful blonde hair! A chin that's extra square! He's fighting to avenge his bestfriend, His death wasn't fair! He'll search everywhere! and bring the dictator to justice! Man the nostalgia.
Wow this takes me back, used to go down the local chip shop and play this on one of those huge arcade machines after school, Guile is the only charachter I never compleated the game with.
I think the most difficult thing fighting with Guile is that both of his special attacks need to be loaded. But I find Dhalsim the most difficult character to beat the game with (esp. Bison)
you right about that M. Bison, E.Honda, Raiden of Mortal Kombat, and Mr Big of Art of Fighting all have the same move that make them fly cross the screen looking like Super Man
@Agent1W I checked. Its Mike Bison = Balrog, Lord Vega = Master Bison, Clawfighter Balrog = Vega. Sagat is the only one with a consistent name outside of japan.
I still play this version on m PC with keyboard hehe with ZSNES emulator and I'd love to play with people around the world. As someone said, this game never gets old.
In Japan, US Balrog was Mike Bison, but it was changed in localization to avoid a lawsuit from Mike Tyson. They looked extremely similar. US Bison was Japanese Vega, but US localizers didn't think that Vega was an appropriate name for the head honcho evil dude. Most SF afficionados call them Claw, Boxer, and Dictator to avoid confusion.
@carlosroberto366 if you knew anything, you'd know depending on what punch you use defines the speed and the damage of the sonic boom, the sound is also lower or higher depending on the power of punch used.
@Agent1W No offense, but what do you mean by "actually Balrog's"? M(aster) Bisons Japanese Name is Vega, Vega (The Spaniard) is called Balrog over there and the Boxer Balrog is known in Nippon under the name of M(ike) Bison. M.Bison (Dictator) has never been called Balrog.
@Agent1W Well you said it, M.Bison is a pun on Mike Tyson, and they wouldn't want him to sue them, so his name ought to be changed. Then, Vega was a pretty weak sounding name for a final boss who is so buffed up. But it's a real spanish surname, so since they had a spaniard who didn't really look like a Balrog (see Lord of the Rings), they switched that name, too. Since the old names applied well to the characters by just switching them around, they didn't need to invent new ones.
the music is so nostalgic...i feel like 12 years old again.. " Thumbs almost falling of,...must..beat Bison..momma keep screaming up the stairs..that diner is ready...must fight...must win...
i recently played this again after probably 15 years and the nostalgia was incredible and i was having a good time. then i got to m. bison, he kicked my ass a few times, then i said "fuck this" and turned it off. he ruined the entire experience. he is the cheapest spamming asshole in video games that i know. with me he always spams the shit out of that slide kick. then when you're dizzy, he spams the shit out of it some more, never giving you a chance to recover.
Sam Ace Rothstein i remember my brother fighting Bison for the first time... on that day i was just a kid but i guess he spent 1 hour or more to win ... after this, he got skilled and could easily defeat Bison... as i was too young i could not go too further on this game... i was able to finish it only some years later...
And I'm not going to start them calling by their old Names. I stick with Master Bison (who now seems to refer to himself as Mighty Bison, check SFIV Battle Intro), Boxer Balrog, and Vega the Clawfighter. Though I casually remark to everyone that Mike Bison switcheroo when they ask me what the M. stands for^^
I like it when Bison gets hit by Guile's sonic boom. I like to think that its supplanting Bison's own Psycho Power....which is a terrible power when you think critically.
I cant believe i only just realised M Bison is a reference to Mike Tyson. I have been playing street fighter 2 for years and i only just realised that! doh.
