My partner was diagnosed with GBS. Prior to GBS diagnosis, his vitals crashed rushed to ICU 12 days with pneumonia, sepsis and leukemia. Survived, acute care for 2 wks and then discharged. Chemo was administered. No concerning symptoms. 4 wks after chemo experienced tingling and weakness in lowers legs resulting in falls. Doctor consulted - chemo symptoms thought to be the cause. Condition worsened. Took temp - 34.4. Ambulance emerge - diagnosed GBS IVIg administered. Responded well. Spirometer just over 2 so no ventilation required. Rehab hospital 3 months and required electric wheelchair. He was completely dependent. Relapsed, 2nd IVig administered, responded well. Return to rehab to learn to walk, feed, toilet. Thank you for presenting this. Greatly appreciated. This knowledge saves lives.
I had a fairly severe case of this in which I was paralyzed from the neck down and had to be on a ventilator. Also, you get five stars for pronouncing Guillain-Barré syndrome correctly
