If I had a setup like that, my piggies would spend more time hiding under the furniture peeing and pooping everywhere.

I was just wondering how often do you clean/change their cage layout and how long approximately does it take you? Some of the detailing like all of the levels, fabrics etc. look like a lot of work! As always loving your cage and your sweet piggies

Pigs are quite expensive esp when you need to take them to the vet. However there are many nice cages you can build for them on a budget. Also they don't need to have toys or shop bought chews. Mine usually get neither. Branches from fruit trees are great for them and they love playing with cardboard. The most important thing is to have good hay, give them veggies and the right kind of pellets. And water of course.

I hope they will wander into other rooms of the house when it gets warmer. For the moment they are reluctant to leave their room

I've bought them a while ago on ebay. They're supposed to be put together as shoe rack. You can click them together however you want so you can make different type hideys for the pigs :-)

Just under half a bale of easibed. That lasts a week. Quite expensive but I can't use fleece too often as it causes eye irritations in one of my pigs

You've probably already answered this before, but what are the little white panels that the pigs are climbing on?

My hamster just died I'm looking for a pet that lives longer. A guinea pig may just be the pet for me !

how do you clean the shavings in such a big cage? do you spot clean or just replace it all at once every so often?

Not at all. I got this of ebay. It was listed as modular shoe rack. Hope that helps.

Every day I replace the most soiled parts and once a week everything is taken out, washed or replaced.

How long do they take to get familiar with their new owner? I have got couple of them just a day before... even if I walk by they get scared and hide in their home !!! If watching TV in the same room they would come out eat and play but if I even move a bit they run away again !!! ANY ONE? ANY IDEA HOW LONG IT TAKES THEM TO GET USED TO ME AND MY FAMILY ... Do they even interact with us ?

I have been watching a lot of guinea pig videos too because I'm also getting 3 girl guinea pigs but I'm getting them on July 20th they will be my very first guinea pigs I SOOOOOOOO HAPPY + EXCITED. ;-)
