thanks to you Saskia my 3 boys have "thingie" cleanings/checks every 6 months pocket and member both. one is around 4 yrs old but the other 2 are still under a year old. I think im like you Saskia the weird gross things intrigue me.

Ouchie we had a boy guinea pig for 7 years before he passed. I feel awful that I never knew to check that portion. Monte could've been is so much pain. I'm so so sorry Monte RIP.

I'm so glad I have girls ... Well 1 girl cause 1 passed away a couple months ago ... My remaining girl is 7 almost 8 and my other was the same age (They were sisters) I still say guinea pigs instead of pig cause it's hard to switch after having 2 for so long.

We have the same thing but they were brothers and one year younger. The remaining one is a trooper and gets let's of attention from us and nightly sofa cuddles, but it's still very sad 😔

Poor little sweetheart. When you get a pet, it's normal that you have to check up on their private parts as well, especially when they get older. Many people don't talk about it because it seems weird or gross to them, but you want your pet to be happy and healthy from head to toe!

No. That is a lie perpetuated by the "anti bath brigade". Guinea Pigs do clean themselves but due to their legs being short? They sleep and walk/run through their pee and poop. Saskia during the Wheekly live on Saturday L.A time, bath 2 boys who get regular baths. You can see how clean the water is before each bath and how dirty it is after each bath. Mod Karalee

When I checked my guinea pig's pinky... To see if he was healthy. I didn't see anything wrong, but it popped up... Immediately after he became so relaxed and really laid down between my arm and belly. It was hilarious and endearing. It seemed like he was having some problems after all...

It is very possible that CBD was applied before filming starts(has happened before and Saskia said that CBD had been applied). It is not necessarily painful for the piggy, but it is certainly uncomfortable for them to have their weenie touched like that. I know, as I apply CBD to my boys before doing a weenie/pocket clean and they still make that noise. Which is more of a "Hey! I don't like that" compared to a clear "OUCH! Stop touching me!" Pain noise. Mod Karalee

I have an old boar (7 years old) and two younger ones, the older one gets a build up of stuff in his bottom and STINKS when I clean it out, whereas the younger ones don’t have anything yet, I have had other boy piggies in the past and I notice that this happens when they get older, does anyone know why this is and is it normal??

Under 8 months they usually have nothing to clean, you still want to check though because this is not true for all youngsters. But they should not develop any before the age of 4.5 months

I was told that the older boars lose the elasticity in their pocket, so things get stuck and stay stuck in stead of passing on by.

I've owned several boars over the years and every one of them was neutered at the youngest age possible, because I like to pair them with girls. None of them ever had anything like these problems! It's like they never developed "down there" at all. I wonder why more people don't neuter?

In the US it is also very pricey to do from what I heard. Thankfully, in my country it is affordable and my boys got neutered at the shelter

@@deh5016 Wow, I didn't know that. It says "mortality rate of 3.80% compared with 0.24% for cats and 0.17% for dogs!" I wonder if the health benefits gained outweigh the risks? Like maybe they live longer on average due to fewer complications (like in this video)? I don't think I would've done anything differently (easy to say in hindsight since they all survived.) Luckily, I'm not in the market for a boy piggie at the moment and I don't have to make that decision!

Thank goodness it was "just" smegma and nothing harmful. My boys are neutered and their weenie doesn't come out, so all I can do is clean the pocket every couple of months
