Guinea Pig Wheeks Loudly During Bath 

I have received a few negative comments about this video in regards to guinea pigs not being able to take a bath. They in actuality need to be bathed just like most other animal and it is perfectly reasonable to bath a guinea pig 2 or 3 times a year or more as needed. He's so cute! I love the idea of putting a towel in the sink to make the piggie safer and more comfortable. I will do that from now on.

I have a LV3 Degree in animal management so I would like to back you up here (due to negative comments, id like to educate people)! You can give piggies baths but you have to be VERY sparing and careful, and only bath them when needed. Piggies, like many small animals, can die from stress and water can scare them ALOT, especially the loud running water. If you are struggling to bath your piggie, the best way to do it is to put some warm water onto a soft cloth and *gently* rub the dirty area (mostly the genitals because they can get fly strike, which is horrific) and you need to understand how your piggie deals with stress. If you are unsure, please get a professional to do it. Also, its important to not leave your piggie damp or wet, and do not even TRY to submerge your piggie or try to get them to swim. You can definetly clean your piggie, but please do it sparingly and quickly enough that your little friend doesnt have to deal with the stress. If they start doing abnormal behaviours like swaying, head bobbing, pacing or barbering, do not bath them until they are better because the resulting stress will kill them. If you aren't confident, get a professional to do it!! This is an example of a good way to clean your piggie, somewhere non-slip for them to stand, allowing them to sniff around and be comfortable. Also, feeding them treats they enjoy like spearmint leaf, chamomile flowers or even just some fresh veg is a great way to help them relax! Make sure the water is comfortable too, use warm water without soaps (unless prescribed by a vet) and gently rub them with water with your hand or a cloth! TLDR: Yes, you can bathe a piggie, but only do it if you need to, rather than regularly

I think he was more or less wondering where all the other piggies were, he probably wanted at least Capy in there to have fun with. My pigs found bathtime fun and wanted to do it together even though I couldn't do that.

My Mom told me when she would get the lettuce out of the fridge to feed our guinea pig, he could hear what she was doing and would start squealing for joy just like in this video. That's a happy little guinea pig! 🙂

I'll be honest, I've never really found guinea pigs cute. I don't think even once I can recall a time where my heart melted looking at one, as it does for virtually every other animal and then some haha. BUT! you sir, have just changed that. Or rather you two I should say. I had to watch the clip a few times, show my friends, then watch it again several more times, likely to do so again after posting this. : ) Reminded me so much of my beloved rats... Posting this clip has not only provided many people with smiles and laughter, but it has begun to create a new pathway to build on whereby I can finally feel the same love & joy for guinea pigs as I do for every other Lil guy out there. I appreciate the use of a cloth to put in the bottom of the sink- prevents slipping.

Yes, I had a long haired pig and he bathed him three times a year. He also got hair cuts every three months, as his hair never stopped growing, like a person's hair. He liked the warm water and being wrapped in a warm towel. You have to use a special soap for small animals, as they have sensative skin.

Aww, so cute. That squeek means they are excited and happy. I use to have a guinea pig. He would hop around and make that squeek when he was exited and happy. Guinea pigs can be loud when they are comfortable. They are adorable.

Soo cute! Hes so curious and excited, and yes guinea pigs DO need to have baths, their bellies literally drag and rest on the ground which also contains their pee and poo, they dont clean themselves like cats can. Also piggie feet are very sensitive and this is great to keep all of them clean including their little feeties.
