If he uses fleece bedding. Just shave it all off. He can be a skinnypig temporarily until it grows back or you could do a buzz cut. The less often you will need to trim his fur. He would be a cute skinnypig
Fun fact: tribbles actually were inspired by guinea pigs, the episode trouble with tribbles was inspired by a story about 2 guinea pigs being held with no breed identification and people arguing weather they were pigs or pets.
He is being such a good boy. I wish my Maggie would behave like he does. I hardly even get near with the scissors and she is hopping all over the place. I just do the best I can because I feel like I'm stressing her out. Ill just have to keep on trying. They say practice makes perfect. 😊
I call my long haired black girl Black Mop. She hates her butt being touched so I use clippers and just push the clippers down onto the table where her hair touches. I also like adding a short guard to do her legs and stomach but their hair grows so fast! She can easily grow an inch in a month.
I do spin my rabbit fluff, not anything that has been chopped though as it’s often too short. It’s amazing how much fluff came off the poor little guy, i bet he feels more comfortable now and will notice it when the carrot is gone.
The time to worry is when the hair cut is complete and it turns out there isn't a guinea pig in there. 😵💫. It has to be said though that is a super cute piggy, looking good.
Lou is a very handsome wig! He's a very calm guinea pig; I thought he was a rabbit at first because I couldn't see his ears and he was totally focused on the food.
Lou got a Dutch boy haircut. My Aberuvian and Peruvian long hairs get an air cooled wedge (no fade) on their backsides during the Summer. Mine give each other bangs. Saskia, every time you give a long haired boar a haircut, He thinks that he's the most handsome pig and he starts to rumblestrut around and popcorn ✌️❤️
He's gorgeous, I wish I could adopt him but I live in the UK. We have a company called Gorgeous Guineas here, they probably ship to most places but they make lots of shampoos and conditioners made specifically for guinea pigs. It would probably help a lot in his case.
I had a black Texel boar that had GORGEOUS curls and I showed him in cavy shows in the early 2000s. He was an ACBA grand champion. I used Cowboy Magic detangler to keep his hair tangle-free and long. I also didn't keep him on shavings. He also didn't chew his hair. 😁
oh my gosh he looks just like the texel i had, Stripe, same tiny face with a bit of brown on that back leg! She was such a wild little thing and did those angry hops whenever i gave her a haircut too!! only difference is she couldn't be persuaded to sit still with food haha
My sisters have hair like that. It is curly that if they brush or comb it, they look like a bush. They have found out that not everyone can cut curly hair. My sister spins wool. She said if it got it wet it would begin to smell. I told her that it would smell wonderful.
Those are thinning shears. I use them on my 3 girls that are silkies. I layer them (former hairdresser here) all over & their hair is so thick, that I need to use the thinning shears. I give them a “Brazilian” to keep their back ends clean.
I thought i make a mess from cutting the hair of my long hair piggie. But if i see this boy moving when you cut his hair i think i am doing a good job here. My lady also is very sensitive on the back. My kids are feeding her snacks, and i am cutting. And every time we do a little better 😀. And i am also getting better , first time i cut way to less. But now i am learning to cut more.
Those are thinning shears. And BTW he's gorgeous! You may be able to use the combs for the clipper also. That way you can cut the hair the same length all.the way around. And change the combs for different lengths 😊
I'm a guy and I'm enjoying watching you cut his hair. I have raised guinea pigs from my grade school days as my dad and mom were into that before I could remember. He looks great.
Hmmm… I wouldn’t mind using all that free floof for felting, or something. 🤣 Maybe this is the breed for me, lol. Are these raised for wool anywhere, like angora rabbits?
Great video, always fun watching you do butt cuts to piggies lol. I'm sending a prestamped envelope for free fountain grass seeds!!! With winter here now, i think it'd be a great treat to grow for the piggies, indoores in a pot ofcourse. do you think it'll grow nicely in a big planter pot? Or should I hold off until springn to plant it ?
