discovered Ryan only yesterday while trying to get back into guitar during lockdown, lessons on loads of my favs, cool teacher great energy, i'm hooked. pearl jams Down and STP interstate slowly adding to my repitoir. Love it
i think you owe me a cover of ernie rubber duckie - some bad ass 7th and dim7th chords! but I'll accept a cover of interstate love song in the alternative! rock-on!
That riff is remeniciant of Jim Croce's "I GOT A NAME" where the part of "rollin me down the highwayX2/ right after "movin ahead so life don't pass me by" Blare, blare, blare, blrae, do do do le. Part. I thought it was very clever of Dean to use that. I love the song . My fav of STP! Good vid Ryan!
YES this is what I needed.. so dumb of me to not check out your video just because I'm learning the song on an acoustic and not electric. You're the best, dude!
Ryan my brother, kudos. Amazing lesson. May I request you something man, could you do a lesson on 'Hurt A Long Time' by Jerry Cantrell from his first solo album Boggy Depot, that would be awesome
Hey Ryan, when i play it, the part where u move from gsharp to a, just slide one fret up to the a and see how that sounds. i think it sounds better... but thats just me. give it a shot and see. :) great vid btw
@@RyanLendt can you do 'Only Dying'? It's a demo song from when the band was Mighty Joe Young. But it's such a great song. Look it up if you don't know it, you will love it
I had no idea a guy could even categorize himself as a string Bender or non string bender.. Isn't 'non string bender' just a euphemism for 'shitty guitarist'? If I said "I'm not an upstroke using guitar player," you'd know immediately that I'm trying to say I suck with all the wrong words
Thank you so much for the lessons! I've been playing guitar for longer than i care to admit... haven't played cover songs for decades... always play original music... i remember how long it would take to learn and figure out a cover song and not always getting it right. You are a GREAT teacher and amazing guitar player... I love all the STP songs you teach... think I'll start a STP tribute band! Lol! I am interested in knowing what type of training you have received... you seem to be very knowledgeable in theory and all that entails... last, you have a very good voice and would enjoy hearing you sing alone with the song your teaching. sorry, one last question... are you playing in any bands at this time? Again... thanks so much for your amazing guitar work and lessons. Sincerely, PJ Pellitteri
You're real kind Jeff, I think you should start an STP tribute band! I'm self taught, as they say, but how can one be truly self taught? I have learned, and continue to learn every day, by playing in bands, writing songs, and teaching guitar lessons - not knowing the answers now and again, finding out, and reporting back the following week. Lots of talented dudes and dudettes taught at my music school back in my brick and mortar days, and I learned a ton from them as well. My band is called Ryan Lendt & the Leavers, you can find us wherever you get music. thank you for asking :)!
Hey Ryan - I found your YT through the PJ email last week. Great stuff. I don't know if YOU know this, but this video doesn't show up in your STP playlist. I found it as part of the Up Next on something else completely random. Thank you for all of this. Best...
Great lesson but for me anyways I find it much easier what you start to demo at 8:00 different. Ring on A 2nd fret, pinky same as you on D 3rd, pointer G1st & middle B 2nd fret. Those 2 changes from your way seem to be less cramped & easier to slide to for me anyways.
This guy reminds me of a guitar teacher on youtube named Scott Grove. He kind of looks like a younger version of Scott. They have the same mannerisms and sense of humor. Scott also has lessons called campfire songs. weird! They even have the same laugh.
Apparently I haven't commented on this one. I've been coming back and forth to it for awhile now and leaving with a broken hand after a few minutes. But I just nailed it. Feels like a bit of a milestone.
I've been listening to pilots since 1990s but just recently I dove a little bit into the lyrics and I gotta admit, o lot of the time I got no idea what Scott is talking about.. I really don't haha. Love the music though like I always did
haha it's a confusing song. I'm compelled to suggest that you tab it out for yourself off this vid, I believe it would be a very constructive time spent in your grand quest to learn it :)
Love that song but your comment about Stone Temple Pilots being the Beatles of the 90s does not ring true, one great song does not make a comparison to The Beatles which had hundreds of great songs, maybe I took what you said out of context I don't know
Ryan Lendt There’s a very small difference in the chorus. They go C#m E A Gsus4 G A. Your way sounds just fine. The important parts, to me, are the E F#m E thing which you nailed and that beautiful mess of a verse!
