I wake up every morning, usually wrecked from a flare up of autoimmune diseases, stumble into the living room and I’m met by two or three guitars as if they were long lost friends. I love my guitars. They keep me sane in insane times when a trip to the grocery store could be my undoing. A riff like that can make you feel so empowered. You know the one......

You’re the other ones that all these drug commercials are aimed at....... Ugh! Guitars, music and love of an angel of a wife make the ride all worth it. After 24 years of watching from the corner, she is finally taking lessons from me. It is so interesting watching some one just picking up the guitar and learning my bad habits. I kid......you forget how foreign and how difficult it is to play and even rarer to stay with. Now you know why all those guitars in the 70’s were stashed away, under the bed or in the closet. Stay well, keep safe!

I bought the same looking guitar, it's a 2003 Classic lp and the pickguard has 1960 printed on the pickgaurd! But it's not considered a reissue! It is a amazing guitar!

Those pickups came stock with these Classics. 498R neck and 500T bridge. They are high output and loaded with ceramic magnets. I own one of these.

AAD CDs good, now I can make a good profit on my 2007 cherry sunburst les Paul classic that has the pickguard!! Jk... I’ll probably keep it forever

90s LP Classics are definitely well regarded, but it's so hard to sell a clownburst. Some of them have snot green inlays

kent franklin yeah some of the early les Paul classics have an obnoxious yellowy-green color inlays. Mine is a 2007, but I think the aged inlay look is pretty mild. Actually looks very similar to how the inlays look on many 1954 les Pauls

I bought one of these in 1997 I still play it to this day.I have left the pick guard on mine but replaced the tuners with grovers.The 97's are the good old heavy ones.Great playing right on with the STP!!

Does the weight realief affect the tone/sound? I tested once one with relief and it sounded really good but I still get a feeling there is something wrong with this when I hold one with weight relief.

0:00 i am ready for the ultra reverb tune effect...come lemmo give us that huge of REVERB you do know that all twin reverb amps have a reberb control knob for a reason

I bought a new 1999 Les Paul Classic plus from the ill fated Mars Music in Atlanta. I've put this poor thing through the ringer with different pickups and wiring scenarios. Almost sold it a couple of times because I hated it, but 10 years something amazing happened. I actually learned how to play and realized that the dammed thing was amazing. I've settled on Mojotone low winds and 50's style wiring. So happy I held onto this one.

My wife and I were driving through LA last August on cross country trip from east coast and stopped in a Saturday while they were recording GOTD. Met Norm, Lemmo, Jen, Todd. Was well treated. Highlight of our trip to CA!

I was in L.A. Last January for a gig at The Whisky, and on the itinerary was a trip to Norms specifically for GOTD. They went at NAMM that day....

I own a 79 gibson les paul custom, 1988 and 1997 gibson les paul standard. But my number one guitar which I enjoy playing the most is my 1991 gibson les paul classic all stock. Just a fantastic all rounder guitar.

Once owned a Les Paul Classic (in Honey-burst). Killer axe, but I think the case weighed more than the guitar. LOL In fact, Lemmo, I was playing it on the Philly club circuit. And no, the pickups are 496/498 (I'm pretty sure, been many years since I let that one go).

You're correct. Classic came stock with the 496R, and 500T. Way to hot for me. I changed out the original pickups for Gibson 1957 PAF Classic pick ups with chrome covers. I find the PAF'S are the most versatile. Need more distortion or gain? Adjust your amp or step on a pedal. I still own it with original case. (I realize I'm two years late for this party)

The 496R/500T were the standard for most Les Paul Classics. Great guitars IMO. I own a '99 Cinnamonburst that I have owned for around 20 years and still one of my favorites.

Just bought a 90's Les Paul Classic Cherryburst before corona hit us all. Maybe my favorite guitar in my collection. It ultra heavy, but I love it. My Les Pauls must be heavy, I am not a fan of light Les Pauls. Maybe when I'm 70 I think different ;) The Songs: 1. Stone Temple Pilots "Sex Type Thing" 2. Led Zep "Whole lotta love" 3. Van Halen???

This is rare, a classic model. Away from the std and customs. A great guitar and very much underrated. Thanks norm! Lemmo is a bit serious today though

What's with the negative know nothing comments at the end of the list? The guy plays his heart out and really doesn't need to do this at all but does and gives many heaps of pleasure,don't like don't watch simple or get in front of the camera and do better,I'm certain if anyone is much better they'd be happy to film it.

For distortion he always uses the "Icky Thicky Flame Thrower" by MXR. Sounds super bad ass. Hope this helps.

I love those Classics. They had the proper ABR 1 and the necks always seemed to be set in the pocket at the correct angle. Not the modern junk Gibson is firing out

The classic came with 500T & 496R ceramic mag high output pickups. The standards came with 498T & 490R alnico mag pickups. Swapping the ceramic mags for some alnico makes 'em sound better.

I disagree, I own a 1997 standard and the 500T compared to 498T is way way responsive especially for hard rock and metal.
