I don't know what makes the 'best' guitar reviewer out there, but I can say without any hesitation that I get more excited for your reviews than any others. Don't change a damn thing, and please never stop.
If you stop the video at 53:26, you see....a very VERY happy man playing a fab chord bend. Wonderful! I had to screen save that and make it a desktop image on my computer. That's pure joy!
It's been a great year for those of us living vicariously through your efforts, and I like our chances for the same in the new year. Happy New Year to everyone.
The Eastman was my favorite amongst the gear you reviewed. So much so that I tracked one exactly like it down locally and tried it out. It is a indeed a dream of a LP! Happy New Years!
Just sat down with a brew. And this weeks episode has just dropped. Just a big thanks from me personally for such a great year of content. Love what you do and your presentation. No crap and honesty throughout. So all the best for the new year.🎉 and just keep doing what you’re doing .
For 2023 I think it would be cool to get hold of a set of the New Custom buckers that are now available separately and put them on a favorite Epiphone Les Paul then compare it to a Custom shop Les Paul.
Cheers mate from USA! Old timer here that loves you & your channel! I appreciate ALL your videos, tones, playing, & upgrades! I feel your pain for some of these projects, seems like some that should be straight forward sometimes have a snag because of the way they do things in other countries for various reasons. I hope you continue on for many years to bring us your thoughts about these different instruments & I understand very well how it can be an endless journey on the FUN it is finding new voices with them. Happy 2023 my friend! Stay safe & enjoy!
Thanks a lot for all the time and effort you put into these videos Colin. The variety of guitars you review at all price points is brilliant and I genuinely look forward to every new video you release. I've learned so much from your videos and just wanted to show my appreciation. Keep up the great work.
Genuinely look forward to every Friday as I know you’re dropping a new video. Brilliant Colin! Thanks so much for a great 2022. Here’s to a even better 2023!
I love the mods, i switch at least the pickups on every budget guitar and then see if more is needed. They just get better and still save you a lot of money on the expensive originals. Thx for all the content! It’s been a pleasure following your guitar adventures this year. Have a great new year’s celebration and see you in the next year! 🎸
My fave of the year was the Revstar. Just so nice to see an original design not just aesthetically, but internally as well with their proprietary tone stuff. Your channel is so great, man. Thanks for all your entertaining and highly informative content. Cheers, homie.
I bought my first SG for Chrimbus this year (Epiphone 1961 SG with the Gibson pickups, you've review it), after discovering you channel and your love for SG. I love how laid back and calm you are and this makes your videos a nice watch. Happy new year buddy and keep on rocking for us.
Congratulations on a fantastic year for your RU-vid channel Colin 🍾🤘🎸. You have given our wee community a joyful celebration every Friday, and I thank you. Keep it coming mate. (On a side note, I’m voting for that Duesenberg 👌).
Hey Paul, sorry just catching up and I missed this one!.. likewise happy new year man and thanks for supporting me and watching my nonsense! Duesenberg got my vote for 'best guitar I didn't care much about for some reason' 🤣
Well, since you asked; My personal Guitar of the Year is my Epiphone Adam Jones Les Paul Custom "Veil of Bees" With the artwork notwithstanding, it's just a great playing, great sounding, BEAUTIFUL piece of gear. Best investment I've made in years. Great video Colin! As always, Greetings from the U.S.!🎸✌️
Thank you for a wonderful year of really compelling and personable content, Colin. A real highlight on You Tube for me, It's been a true pleasure being along for the ride and involved somewhat too on the brilliant TV channel. Wishing you a very happy and healthy '23, mate.
Hi Colin, many thanks for providing us with the best guitar show on the planet, I hope you and your family have a great new year, looking forward to next years guitar goodies, stay well, All the best for 2023 mate, have a nice hogmanay as we say up here in Scotland lol ✌😎✌🎸🎸
My guitar of the year is still the Tokai Gold Top. Followed by the Guild Jetstar. Both are such gorgeous guitars. The Tokai still rules the top of my shopping list if only I'd get on better with Les Pauls. Thank you for a great year and Happy New Year to you 😃
I just came across this episode and loved it. you reflect so genuinely your passion and love of the mighty Axe. Excellent viewing experience - Thanks Colin you're one of a kind . . . Jim - Arkansas
Your great reviews made 2022 less crap. Thanks, Col. Wishing you & my fellow subs all the very best for '23. (Still gonna stick with the Epi Crestwood Custom for GotY tho!)
Happy New year Colin... always the best way to pass 45/50 minutes at Friday👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸❤️❤️❤️ by the way yesterday evening the gig went extremely well...all the people was happy to listen to our and FREE music...my 1992 Les Paul Standard played great on the Fender Blues Junior...great evening...playing Is Always the best way to pass a good evening at the pub...a Happy New Year and as always Cheers from Italy 👍👍👍🥂🍾🎸❤️🎊🎉
There it is! The beautiful SG Special I got rid of years ago and regretted it every day since. I have to say you're a very smart and lucky man. I got mine for $200 from a guy who was trying to sell it to a store who was suspicious and thought he might have nicked it. I talked to him long enough to suss out he'd come by it quite honestly. It was nearly new in 1970 and I got it for the same $200 I'd brought into the store that day to buy a good electric guitar. I wou d up with the best guitar Id ever owned. I even took with me for a 30 day stay in a mental hospital that was designed to avoid a trip to Vietnam. The SG played beautifully in a concrete stairwell because although I could have an amp in the hospital, it sounded like it was plugged into a Pro Reverb inside that stairwell. I'd give a lot to know what happened to that beauty.
Hey man, Happy New Year!.. i just wanted to say, I’m a viewer from Ireland and absolutely love your channel. I honestly can’t thank you enough for your on-going insight and genuine reviews of gear. I share that passion and genuinely love your approach, so, just wanted to say cheers 🍻
Hi Colin, another great video. For what it's worth, of the 20+ guitars that I've bought, sold and traded this year, my absolute favorite is my Epiphone Adam Jones Les Paul Custom Silverburst. It's the first instrument I've owned in years that really inspires me to play differently, (and better). I would love to see you review one of these beauties, to get your spin on it. I look forward to more cool guitar videos from you in 2023, Happy New Year Man! (and greetings from the U.S.) 🎸✌️🍾
Hi Colin Happy new year, until today I'm still in love on how that flying V sounds and couldn't agree more about how Eastman's, being some of the best guitars you have encountered, and between those, that LP is a treasure, thank you for the pleasure on watching your honest, funny, great sounding and informative work, on 2022, I really enjoyed it very much, and eagerly looking forward for 2023. Thank you very much indeed and Cheers mate😉😁.
Here’s me piling on here again…such an excellent film (all 3) about 2022 new acquisitions and fiddle-abouts. Well done me old mucka! Guitars and music are right up there with breathing for me as necessities, so I’ll raise a sincere thank-you glass to you tonight. Cheers!
Would like to wish you a very happy new year Colin! I laughed here a bit when you were talking about that red, white and blue Strat 😂 I love Strats, they have their own sound of course but I have the very same stinking issue you do but maybe even worse. If I deck my hand on the bridge I hit the volume pot and then if I slide my hand up towards the neck a bit I’m hitting the damn selector switch! 🤣
It's been a fantastic year for guitars, and you have made it brilliant! Thanks for the hours of entertainment and education. 2023 may be the year you find something you HATE.... but I hope not. Thanks again Colin, I'll see you 52 times next year too!
Thanks for a year of great videos Colin. I always look forward to watching! The standout for me of all the guitars you covered is the Eastman line. The antique varnish concept is intriguing! I can’t wait to see what you come up with for 2023. Happy New Year!
Great show. I feel exactly the same about the SB59v .... wasn't sure I liked the LP style guitar, thought I was more of a Tele player. Cannot put the SB59v down now but it has also lead me to the Eastman T59v. I also love the T64v which is a brilliant guitar and often rivals the SB59v for me. Would love to see you review that one. Thanks for all your shows and happy new year!
Cheers Colin! Great round up of a great year of guitars. Love it when you love a guitar! Your playing comes alive (V and Eastman dc in particular). Happy new year, looking forward to the ‘23 intake and trying to resist buying anything else 😂
Great content this year mate! Thank you for all the time and energy you put into creating, editing and releasing these videos. I’m certain a lot of us are looking forward to your content in the new year as well. Happy New Year and here’s wishing you the best!
cheers Colin , Happy new year thanks for all the guitar love my new favorites 1. Lazarus (2021) 2. Epi LP Custom alpine (2020) 3.Bonomassa 1962 Es 335(2022)
Oh, that was so funny. That screw coming out of the back of that Gibson SG Special made me giggle, still does. Reminds me of when I drilled a hole through the headstock of my tele. You're a treasure. Happy New Year and what a great channel. Next year should be a blast.
Thanks! You've become one of my favorite channels. See ya next year😁 I bought a ephiphone les paul custom after watching the video on those. Great guitar for the money.
Couldn't agree more with your selection for guitar of the year. I have an Eastman SB59/v and it is absolutely outstanding. It is one of the least expensive guitars in my collection, and yet is equal to or better than every other guitar I own, and I too find myself favoring it over the others. Cheers!
great showcase of guitars mate! guitarfetish makes a humbucker sized p90 called the "mean90" and i can tell you for a fact the neck pup is super thick/syrupy/bluesy.... i have one in my glarry semi-hollowbody tele clone along with the "pro63" vintage wind bridge pup from guitarfetish....twang that brad paisley would go bonkers over.... my king offset tele clone has a soapbar p90 from guitarmadness on the neck and a "pro63" hot wound from guitarfetish....the hot pup seems to have less "twang" to me...ill research it more...
A worthy winner - huge thank you Colin for bringing Eastman to my attention. Based on your review I went for the SB59 (leftie) as an Xmas treat to myself rather than a Gibson 1950s standard which I was going to get…and I don’t regret it for a second! Amazing guitar that I just love. Everything feels and sounds top notch - and the finish is so beautiful. I was worried about not experiencing that ‘it’s a Gibson’ feeling, but I haven’t felt that way at all because the Eastman is everything I feel people want from a Gibson - premium sound and feel and that vintage look - and often don’t quite get. Your review really helped me decide and I’m looking forward to seeing what the channel brings in 2023! Happy New Year!
Brilliant stuff. Always great fun to watch your video's Colin. You always make me smile with your wry wit and I love your total honesty. A very HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours brother .... and keep the videos coming in 2023 🙏
Happy New Year Collin, and thanks for your efforts in providing info on most of the guitars that working stiff’s like me look for. I ended up with at least one purchase this past year on a model that you did more than one review on. So Thanks again, hope to see you lots more in 2023🎉!
Good Evening Colin, and thank you for sharing your favourite six string axes of 2022. As we say in German, Slide well into the New Year and may you and your Team enjoy good health and prosperity in 2023. And I look foward to your Videos in 2023. God Bless and Cheers, Mate
i'm not surprised you chose the eastman sb59 as your guitar of the year, they do make amazing guitars, i have 2, the sb56, and an e20ss acoustic, their both great guitars.
A happy new year to everyone..let's hope next week is the start of something good..love the program and love the patrons that post comments..all best people.
It's beer o'clock in Australia! Just had a🏄...🍻🎸.The guild was one of my favs. Also was introduced to the Crestwood..If on sale I'd buy both of these🎸🎸 Cheers mate
You, Colin, are a man after my own heart. I own and love guitars ranging from premium, vintage and affordable (i.e. Cheap!) I don’t care where the tool was made nor how much or little it cost, as long as it hammers the nail. Your videos are a joy to watch and I imagine the only thing I would enjoy more would be toasting you in person, enjoying a libation and a bit of a jam together. Cheers and Happy New Year!
Thanks for the great videos this year. The Guitaristas is easily my favorite guitar channel! And the soldering bits really made me laugh because it is so relatable. I too always start enthousiastic and get into all sorts of issues 🤣
You've been a shining light in a shite year, I thank you. You're content is incredibly enjoyable and entertaining, I thank you. Looking forward to whole new year of the world's coolest grandad! Ta!
38:11 I know that feeling of utter dispair when you're in a solder fumed room sweating, your hand are hurting from twisting the wires, all the wasted time. I hate soldering. I wouldn't care if it became non solder plugs one day.
Bliss, and thank you. So much to record and learn from. Like you I have done Gibson P90, and will replace. Rather Eastman, clearly fine handmade Chinese craftsmanship, but I will immediately go Edwards, Japanese craftmanship, for my alternative P90 guitar. I have done and sold, and regret, the very much more affordable, that Ibanez Lawsuit era, Edwards Gold Top with late 60,s Seymour efforts. I will buy the Edwards with the P90,s and thank you thank you for your effort.
Only recently discovered the channel, but I like the cut the crap attitude and honesty. Really works, and now a favourite channel. Looking forward to more next year.
I watched one of your videos earlier this year and saw that yellow Bullet Mustang. I fell in love with the look of it. Living in America, finding one was one hell of a task. They only sold them on your side of the planet and by the time I ran into your video, they were sold out everywhere. Eventually, I tracked one down in a little shop in England and they were willing to ship it to me. I went hog wild with modifying it. It got a set of DiMarzio pickups, a Fortitude in the bridge and a 36th PAF in the neck. I had an extra 1996 Fender Jagstang neck laying around, so I outfitted that with a new set of Kluson tuners. The bridge was replaced with a telecaster ashtray style bridge. Then, I installed a momentary Killswitch and new pots and caps. Certainly, this was all overkill. The only thing left of the original guitar is the sweet Graffiti Yellow competition body. But, good god, how I love this guitar. Thanks for turning me on to this one, sir. I am grateful.
The signature models were all my personal favourites of the year of all your vids, as I am and always will be an unashamedly biased punk/post-punk rocker at heart. Looking forward to see what other gems and quirky oddities cross your path in the new year. All the best from Tasmania!
Because of your recommendation I bought a Epiphone SG . I own a LP studio a Epiphone Lp100 and couple of strats, right now I am impressed with the SG .
Excellent close to the year sir! Happy Eastman came out on top. The “punching above their weight” verbiage is bandied about a lot, but certainly fits for Eastman. Headed to the Founders Pub for New Years? Enjoy- see you in 2023!
What a year. Thanks for all the great content. I work from home, so have enjoyed your longer format videos and tear-downs which I leave on while working. Gives me something interesting to listen to while working.
