thanks for the lessons griff, been very helpful already and i haven’t scratched the surface of your catalog..aside from learning a bunch of songs and looking at the theory, got anything for writing hooks? beyond repetition and catchy; maybe you’ve got a more analytical perspective

I am pretty sure that distortion created the popularity of the power chord, because power chords don't really work on an acoustic. You sir have a great over driven tone at a conversational volume, how do you do it?

It's nothing special, Boss Blues Driver (Keeley or Analogman modded) into my old Eleven Rack processor on a basic Super Reverb patch. Basically, Blues Driver into a Fender type amp with a Les Paul does a great job.

Lol , loved iron maiden (still sort of do) when i was a young teen too . “Piece of mind” spent a long time in my boombox,just flipping the cassette over and over . 1983-ish 😬
