My take on a modern Billy Corgan Fender signature guitar, complete with railhammer Z-one pickups *spoiler... the pickups are insane, go and buy some... don't even hesitate.
Thanks for sharing your project and especially your thoughts and choice of pickups, I’ve been trying to find exactly this video, finally now I know the pickups that I need to get, magnificent 😁👍🏼👍🏼
reminds me of that Candy Apple Red Strat Corgan used in 2007 or so, i think it was a baritone tuned to either Drop C# or C# Standard and had some Tony Iommi pickups.
I vaguely remember him using a guitar like that. A lot of people shit on the Zeitgeist era (07 - 08) but there were some of the best live shows and live guitar tones.
@@carsandguitars The sets were pretty good (and i think Zeitgeist sounds way better live), the tones were incredible and the shows were very high energy. The specific guitar i’m talking about was sold in 2014 or 2015. Was used live, but not much or often.
100% agree @cactus-mcjacktus I seen them for the first time in 2008 and they were monstrous sounding... and they opened with Porcelina! That must be where I remember that guitar from, it was on BCs reverb shop or something

Nice! I've got a Squier CV Starcaster that needs new pickups... and I am thinking these will do just nicely. My crappy pc speakers weren't doing this justice, but it sounded like it picked up the harmonics in Zero pretty well?
I like your style - I may do a similar project. I have the BC-1 white and it is stellar. I'm thinking an olympic pearl cyclone with gold z-one pickups (as a change in tone plus I love the graphics on the cover). Also, add watches to your hobbies for the trifecta ;-)
Cheers mate, much appreciated! I just picked up a satin black BC-1 and I’m really enjoying it. I don’t think I can swing another expensive hobby at the moment haha
Maaaate, sounds killer. I've been wanting to do the same type of project ever since the BC-1 came out. The lack of decent info on the elwctronics has held me back though. Any chance you can provide some info on the reverend electronics since you now have the BC-1.
Cheers, I really love it hey, very solid feeling and sounding instrument. Out the box that squire is worth every cent even before swapping the pickups. Na no issues at all... just had to drill a different hole for the neck plate as the squire isn't a traditional 4 bolt pattern, the heal routing is the same though :)
“That’s not a knife; this is a knife.” 🐊🤠 Helluva box opener you have there. Sweet lookin’ Squire! Is that one mfd in China or Indonesia? I have a 40th anniversary Jazzmaster (Indonesia) and a J. Mascis Jazzmaster (China). They’re both impressive for the price, but the Chinese J. Mascis has the edge as far as craftsmanship goes. I concur that Squire produces some surprisingly cool guitars these days. Honestly, I’d rather try my luck with a current Squire than a Mexican Fender as of late. Thinking about getting one of those Reverend Z-One guitars. As a huge SP fan who had Siamese Dream, Gish, etc. on repeat all throughout high school, it’s a very tempting guitar. Anyways, cool custom Squire! 👍🎸
Cheers mate haha! it's made in indonesia, legitimately can't fault it hey. I just got my first reverend a day ago, the original BC-1 in satin black... not cheap but a very nice guitar
@@carsandguitars Yep! I know the one, BC-1 that is. Looking forward to a video upload once you have a chance to spend some time with it. Those Railhammer pups, bass roll-off knob, and 12” radius should make for an interesting guitar. My collection consists of pretty much traditional guitars, nothing that really begs to be played with a ton of gain and still be articulate. Looking forward to obtaining a Z-One in gloss black. Later, friend! 👍
I haven’t had a chance to try those, been looking for one of those reverends to try though. I’ve got some of the OG dimarzio BCs in the strat, how do they compare to the older railhammers?
Both really different pickups, the DiMarzios are darker and distort really well but they also sound fantastic clean. The railhammers, even on my super clean amps start to break up with heavy strumming and I find them a lot brighter, you can tell they were made for distortion. I'm hoping to do a side by side comparison of the 3 main BC sigs soon :)
