Hal-ca loves the tremelo bar. I've seen her play live from a couple of feet away and NO one abuses it like her. It was breathtaking so close. She's like the Vladimir Horowitz of the guitar.
The band formed in 2014 (when Haruka, the guitarist, was only 11), but they had all performed separately even before that. Asterism has released 3 albums and a number of EPs. _Dawn_ was from the album _Ignition_ (2018) and _Church_ is from _Guernica+a_ (2021). So there's still plenty more to discover. Haruka has started to sing on their last couple of EPs, although personally I prefer their earlier (completely instrumental) material. If you don't mind checking out a cover, then I would recommend their rendition of _Scuttle Buttin'._ It's really a reinterpretation of the song, rather than a straight-up cover (which is true of all of Asterism's great covers). Haruka plays it with amazing speed and lots of passion, and I would even say that I like her version better than SRVs. Another great instrumental band from Japan is D_Drive. Think Steve Vai type instrumentals but with 2 guitarist doing harmonies with the leads (Yuki even plays a cover of "For The Love Of God" on her personal channel). They've been together for close to 10 years now and are a lot older than Asterism. I'd recommend "M16" (live at NAMM version). Its not an official vid, but its pretty heavy and a great intro into them. Then the live music video versions of "Unkind Rain" and "The Last Revenge" plus "Gekirin" are also great songs. They're definitely a band worth getting to know. Yuki is another phenomenal female Japanese guitarist. She's also done some Shred Racer projects that include songs with Saki from Nemophila.
@@Metallic_Gaijin_Hu I love Yuki's playing. Her harmonies with Seiji are downright beautiful on "Unkind Rain". I like the 'Yuki Cam' live performance version on her channel. Have you listened to her new project East Of Eden? Came across my recommendations and when I watched the video I was like "Wait! That looks like Yuki!". The only other time I've seen her outside of D_Drive were the songs she did for Shred Racers.

I always try to explore new Japanese bands (at the beginning of this year I stepped into the deeeeeeep J-Metal rabbithole and since then I wrote some reviews for a Hungarian online mag among others about Lovebites and Asterism - I plan to write my next review about Hanabie's Reborn Superstar).
