Many people say celtic influence but it's kind of a nordic-asian fusion on this album in particular (and the upcoming sequel) Like Finland meats Japan feel.
Love this song so much. This band mixes styles and elements very well. It's not one genre really. When they asked Jari what genre they played, he said: "Epic metal." I think we can all agree. lol. 'The Forest That Wheeps' is another favorite when it comes to Wintersun.
The first time I've heard this and I really like it. This clearly has the typical Finnish melancholia, which suits me since I'm a Finn too. Some Finnish metal bands I've enjoyed are Amorphis and Children Of Bodom.
Yes, they even had some light black metal influences in some tracks with harsh vocals here and there when he was with Ensiferum. I believe he also wrote some of the Ensiferum tracks back then, so there is no doubt he took some ideas and folk influence with him into Wintersun.
Nice video! It'd be awesome if you could check out "The Way of the Fire" from their presentation at 70000 tons of metal 2015 or some songs from their debut album like "Sadness and Hate" or "Death and the Healing"
For your information, Teemu Mäntysaari, the guitar player with the blue Ibanez is temporarily replacing Kiko Loureiro from Megadeth for their US tour, and he nails Tornado of Souls's solo every night :-) I hope he will receive the light he deserves through this exposure
