Yes...resonance, BUT it's actually sympathetic vibration of the strings. The strings will vibrate at their natural frequencies when given a little "push" (a.k.a. the sound from the speakers). Cool demo, nice video. Thank you!
I learned this today when my 16 yr old saw the trampoline wiggling & told me of the phenomenon. I said I needed proof since I never learned this & I paid attn in science. This is the vid she showed me. So, thanks for an awesome vid!
This is a great way to temper tune a guitar or solo acustic instrument, when you can find a frequency that the guitar body harmonically matches, it improves the tonality of the instrument by a noticable amount, instead of using a strict 440 tuning
@@ScottScience Being inspired, I did a test with 2 strings tuned to the same (on one instrument), pulling one then stoping it and seeing the other still vibrating while other strings being not affected.. then the same with two instruments (facing each other) and also holding one instument on top of the other (to see if the same occurs through the air).. as some tests with tuning forks with a box placed on the same table the other fork starting to resonate (due to the vibration from the table) and also resonate through the air (one on the table, other being held with a hand)
Any speaker....even just the speaker on the phone would work....just not as significant. A cheap Bluetooth speaker would work just fine too. I hope that helps -Mr. Scott
Sir nice video .. I ask u one thing how to set resonance in electric Guitar... I tried so many time but it's not working.. So you have any idea.. something related help 🙏🏻❤️ Love from india
An electric guitar pickup is much smaller of an item which is forced to vibrate. That is why you need an amplifier to hear an electric guitar. Did you try playing it back with the amp? I bet it still works but just not a large amplitude in the string
Why didn't you shoot until you got it right? The segment telling us where to put the cellphone on the guitar had bad audio. Why didn't you do it again? Why didn't you care??
