I DO want to know about her life, just not interested in celebrity drama. But I realize now it looks like I said I don't want to know anything about why she wrote the song ... that's not the case. THANK YOU for letting me know that this song is about a real relationship in her life.
I won't go into any details about who this is about, but one thing that I think should be noted to add some more context to this is that the guy was several years older than her, and dated her when she was a teenager. She talks about that aspect a bit more in her song "Your Power", which I highly recommend you go check out.
oh THANK GOD you watched the whole song lol also, this song became one of my all-time favorites very very quickly. it's sonically immaculate to me and the way it expresses the many emotions you feel during a breakup is something I've only ever heard on "happiness" on taylor swift's evermore.

To me, this whole song is about a very abusive relationship that was difficult to leave. It sounds like the speaker wanted this person to step up and be present in the relationship but would disappoint them every time. It doesn't feel like the speaker is being emotional/overly emotional about it, it sounds like they are traumatized by the relationship. The isolation, the fear, the feeling like you aren't good enough, even as a famous person they just want to be loved and appreciated. Hearing this song makes me cry because of my own experiences. The mood and tonal shift halfway through perfectly depicts the ups and downs of an unhealthy relationship; then finally feeling somewhat happy because you're free
I love the connection you made to the shining scene, I hadn’t thought of that before but I could absolutely see that being an inspiration. She has a history of being inspired by different horror films, bury a friend is the most clear example but all of her videos play on some kind of fear or eerie situation/feeling and they’re so riveting even though they’re often very straightforward and simple because they play on your emotions to hold your attention. I think she expressed that she’s not scared of a lot of things but water is one of her biggest fears and that’s why she chose to use it for this video. I think that’s such a powerful choice especially for this video of breaking free of a toxic relationship.
I'm 40 and i LOVE Billie. Finally a real artist. This is a masterpiece and she directed and edited by herseft as always her all others music video. SO AMAZING. This is pure and REAL art. She is literally on another level from the artists of the last 20 years of fake pop artists with 20/30 producers and songwriters and directors etc, this is art, this is quality music and at only 15-19 years she has created masterpieces, simple, but of quality, intimate, but pieces of art with so much meaning and emotion, man ... she has so much potential. She is so creative and visionary, nonconformist and anti-pop. She is the future of music and I hope they will revolutionize it by returning the music industry to its origins with artists who know how to create their art.

Because typically you would be locked into the price the home is at the time you applied, and depending on state and local laws it may be illegal to jack the rent up after you were approved but before you signed the lease. Hadn't been approved yet, was going to apply that day once I walked the actual unit (I was only able to see the online tour before), and as we're walking over there she hands me the one-sheet (which still had the original price on it) and says "actually it's THIS now..." haha, it's ok anyway, the actual unit was not a nice as the tour made it look.

The guy is lying to her. Do you read my interviews or not. Do you skip my avenue? As you were there, but didn't stop to see me. I told you not to say anything about what I told you, but you did, now I am scared as to what people will think, cause I asked you not to, what will they think of me. I never said anything bad about you, cause that stuff is embarrassing. It sounds like he was trying to control her, couldn't even hang with her mom or friends. She is saying she would never do the horrible things he did. Then she just said, leave me alone. She took her power back.
I have to admit, I do like some of your analysis. Although, I get the vibe that you see women very superficially. You got some of it right. I guess it's just your generation's upbringing. I admire your music knowledge for the second half of the analysis.
