We went back to Las Vegas for a few days, and had an avionics failure on the descent. We had a chance to go hiking in the desert, but only after watching the fighter jet drills at Nellis Air Force Base, including F-16s and F-35s.

Love your videos. Especially that you don't make music videos with the cameras pointing directly out the windscreen for the whole video. ATC, explanations of what you are doing, showing button pushes, PFD and MFD.. What's not to like?!

The "military activity" is called RedFlag.. Large NATO participation air combat. I used to work on the base at Nellis and you'd see guys in flightsuits from most all NATO countries.. Since I live in Las Vegas, its fun to go watch the variety of jet fighters here during RedFlag...

I go to NASCAR every year in Vegas and they do the same thing for the weekend. I think it's called Red Flag but I could be wrong. At night is the best because you can see the afterburners glow. Being woken up by jets rumbling my motorhome isn't a bad alarm clock either. hahah Good to see the channel growing. keep the vids coming! time lapse i think are good ways to add easy content and always look cool. especially in the air. thanks man

if one crt screen doesnt work and everything else does, it could be the failed unit. a simple replacement unit and function check should solve the issue. dust also gets into the connectors from behind the crt units. this can cause shorts in the electrical system causing warning lights to go off. simply pull the units out using a flat screw driver, unse a cannot plug liers of needed to unlock the connector and spray it with contact cleaner..simple issue that solves huge problems

So in a king air with proline 21 avionics, the left PFD would always go out when we flew into moisture and come back when clear of moisture for a few minutes. The avionics techs looked into the plane up and down and never found out what the problem was. One of those mysteries

New subscriber and lovin' it. I've seen about 10 of your videos to date. How are these assumptions: 1.You had to get permission from Presidential to open this channel? 2. Was one requirement that you never show clients? (I haven't seen any yet.) 3. Re your comment below that "personality" is a major requirement for your jobs. I assume this means keeping clients happy, and I'm figuring your employer doesn't want any stories on most outrageous clients and other client anecdotes? (Save them for the book?)
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 6 лет назад
All correct. But the personality I was mainly talking about was referring to getting a good flying job requires a good personality. We spend so much time with the person we fly with...if we didn't get along well, it would be miserable.

Ok stupid question... well, maybe not. Anyways, I watch several Gulfstream channels and y’all are the only two who say “60&Hold” What exactly does that mean? I’m type rated in the Citation 5. Never heard that before... any insight as to why y’all orate that during rollout prior to V1? Is that a type rated callout? Oh, and FYI, Sean and John: Keep Flying The corporate life! (Sorry, had to throw that in) Love yalls channel.....👍🇺🇸
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 6 лет назад
Hey Michael! Glad you like the channel. The reason for that callout is because the auto throttle go into a "hold" mode at 60 knots, even if the power isn't fully set yet. Once they enter the hold mode, they won't move at all. So basically we are just double checking that the power is set for takeoff prior to that point. If not, then we would need to manually advance them to whatever the appropriate setting would be. This has never happened to me, but I've heard of it happening when there is a heavy headwind, so the IAS will get to 60 very quickly.
@Belowthedeckaviation

Reason why there’s a lot of jet activity is because it’s Red Flag. I’m a flight engineer here with them for the exercise. Wonderful flying you guys do! After the military I’m looking to be a corporate pilot.

Found you guys 2-3 weeks ago, started at the beginning and have been playing catch-up. Retired ATC. Really enjoyed the camera angles in this video. Question: Landing Vegas, do you always get 19R or do you ever land on the east-west runways? I know the FBO's are on the west side of the airport, but you guys certainly fit in with the air carriers. Shorter taxi maybe?
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 6 лет назад
If the winds are really strong out of the East or West, we will have to take 8 L/R or 26 L/R. We like 19 R for the short taxi though.

@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 6 лет назад
It doesn't seem overly fast to us...haha! It takes years of practice to understand all of that information quickly. When there are a lot of aircraft in one sector, ATC needs to speak quickly to move on to the next aircraft that they need to speak to . Many moving parts, so time is precious over the air waves.

@CorporatePilotLife

V1 is the speed at which we will no longer abort the takeoff. It is typically just below liftoff speed, but sometime is 10 or 15 knots below. Even if we lose an engine after V1, we will still takeoff.

Ok new sub. I've watched a few videos and read comments to get answers to my questions but would like to know on take off what the significance of "60 hold" and I think 80 relates to active rudder?
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 6 лет назад
The "60 Hold" is about the auto-throttles. That's where they hold the throttles stationary even if the power is not set yet, so we are just verifying that it was set prior to that. At 80 knots, the person in the left seat no longer guards the tiller. The rudders are active at all times on the G-IV. I think I answered your questions...if something wasn't answered, hit me again. I hope you're enjoying the videos!
