Hi Shaun, a viewer asked about having the QRH on the iPad. Yes, there is an iPad app called “PlaneBook”, and it contains all of the pilot’s manuals including the QRH, plus much more. There is a PlaneBook app for each Gulfstream model. Another viewer commented about its size. When we first released the QRH, it was about half as thick as it is now. Thanks to both Marketing and Legal, however, it grew exponentially, so much that it should be called “Thick” instead of “Quick”. Just a few thoughts as the original writer of all of the QRHs.

Great vids as usual, Sean. Suggestion for future vids--how about TALK-OVER COMMENTARY vids where u talk over a flight vid with explanation of whats going on, funny stories, rating fbos, etc. It's done for dvds where directors talk over the movie. You could do this for vids you've already posted eg the popular entire GIV flight from engine start up with John. And u dont necessarily hafta comment on or even include full vid..just cut out what u dont need.

@CorporatePilotLife

Some airplanes have the checklists built into the MFD, but not all are up to date,so we just use paper. @CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 4 года назад
Yes indeed...we practice it in the simulator quite often. They are definitely just as heavy in the sim too
@hommie789
@hommie789 4 года назад
Shaun, using a secondary chart for V-speeds, do you have to reference the manufacturer specs too or is APG sufficient? Seems odd to me that there is not a rule to cross reference manufacturers specs even though APG is correct but everything usually comes back to manufacturer. I work in the crane world and we use different specs but everything has to be double checked and charts have to be from manufacturers to eliminate mistakes. If an accident happens log book and charts are the first thing the government grabs for.
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 4 года назад
That can be a tricky one...APG will likely be different from the manufacturer numbers, but that's because APG uses their own departure procedure. The numbers we get from them are approved for use though.

@matt_waddy

@@CorporatePilotLife I do think a video on the pax brief would be interesting, especially given the caliber of people you see versus the airlines. @rikspector 4 года назад
Shaun, So how many of those emergency procedures do you practice on a regular basis? Do you eventually have to know all of them? I would guess that the most extreme ones where response time is critical are probably the most practiced and decrease as repair time becomes less critical. I know you commercial pilots are smart and quick minded, but I can't imagine knowing it all. Anyway, I am VERY impressed. Cheers, Rik Spector
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 4 года назад
Hey Rick! We practice different ones each time we go to SIM training, but always the most critical ones like engine failure on takeoff. In reality, it's best NOT to memorize these checklists because that can result in errors. It's best to use the checklist as you perform it. When I was in the SIM every day doing these, it was just natural to memorize them from daily use. The main thing is to know what the checklist is asking us to do for each item and what that action will cause in the system.
