Here is the (almost) completely uncut flight from Las Vegas International Airport to Los Angeles International. Several people have asked for the entire flight including the cruise section, so here it is. I usually edit out the "boring" part of the flight, but this one I didn't. Let me know what you guys think!

Awesome video! And from my perspective (thumbs up if you agree) it could be and should be even longer, for example from the moment you step on the airplane, prepare and start everything up to the moment you close the door behind you at your destination. No way are your videos boring. And one more thing, maybe in the future full flight videos you can set up an extra camera to catch and record the displays (the primary flight display etc) and show it in the corner of the video for example.

The way the solar plant works is the array of mirrors reflects the light to a boiler that sits on top of a structure. The high pressure steam then runs a turbine. No solar panels.

I have learned something from these videos, when I was younger I used to think how cool it would be to sit in the back drinking champagne. Now I'm older, I think it's so much better to sit in the front drinking orange juice and doing all of the work.

Guys, for me your videos are NEVER boring! It was my plan to be a pilot but ran out of money and a kid came along after starting instrument rating instruction. Ended up in law enforcement, and retired, which was not so fulfilling. Its is really nice to see what my dream career could have been like. With John's stomach bouncing around like mine I can really imagine sitting in the left seat like him... LOL. Thanks guys!

Hi Herb, I got my private pilot's license in 1980. It is almost embarrassing to have run out of money back then. A Cessna 152 was $14 per hour dry and the 172 I used was $18 per hour dry. It was fairly upsetting not to be able to continue. One of my friends currently flies with American and another was the base commander at a major USAF airbase in the Middle-East. Another is with United. Instead, I had a career dealing with knuckleheads and really bad people... Oh well.

Corrections: The three solar mirrors, in a circle, actually reflect light onto the center tower (boil water salts, steam turns turbine). // The nearby field of dark panels are normal PV solar conversion to electricity. // Tesla PowerWall batteries are reserve backup solar use in small home environments. The larger Tesla PowerPack for Utility and Business sized energy storage solutions.

I flew our Corporate Aircraft for over 3 decades. The last decade I was a Senior Officer so I had scheduling authority for trips. We had numerous aircraft anywhere from Aerial inspection aircraft (Cessna 172's) to our Super King Air, Cessna Citation, Saberliners, GIIB thru GIV and a Bach 111. I estimate about 25 million miles flown on these aircraft. Love Your videos guys. Many times I sat in the jump seats trying to figure out how to fly. Landing in Foggy weather when your at minimums was the most hair raising. Never could figure out how you guys do it under those conditions. One looking out the window to make sure you see what your suppose to see at 200 ft, then making the call to land. Nananananananananananana…...touchdown!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep these videos coming. Maybe I missed it but it would be awesome you guys pointing out what your watching on your instruments coming in for a landing. Nowadays with heads up displays and high def screens with very clear glideslope displays. Anyway, landings are exciting! Best to You Guys

Great video. I do think I like the complete video start to stop. Only one negative for me. I don't mind seeing you guys but I think for me I like the view of the controls and not looking back into the rear of the plane. Iv gotten so used to watching you change setting and such along with flying the plane i would rather see that view. But I will say I like any content you guys produce so keep it up and ill be looking forward to the next video. Oh and a side not. The live Q and A was great. You guys did a great job trying to answer all questions. Also the tech videos are great and also something I look forward to. Be safe guys

This was really interesting and fun to Watch. However, what caught my eye was the navigation part. Do you have a special program to plan your flight plan? What do you do once your route is planned? How do you send it off to Flight Services? I have so many questions on this, but I will start with that, Maybe concider doing a video on flight planning, after all it is a large part of flying and not just steering the plane. Without a good plan, you might never get there. Thanks a lot. Fly Safe. Tim

That is on the list of future Tech videos. We use a service called Arinc Direct. They pretty much make the process as simple as possible. We usually do it all online, but we can call them and do it over the phone as well. They do all the official filing with the FAA, then we get a print out and load the route in the FMS.

Ivanpah solar electricity generating plant. 392 megawatts uses 173, 500 mirrors to direct solar energy into the towers for steam generation into turbines. They had problems in the first year as the plant only produced about 40% of its projected gross megawatts. They're getting better. One time, the mirrors were misdirected and caused a fire in one of the towers. Thanks for the video guys!

Nathan, I know how you feel, I was in ROTC for 4 yrs only to find out I couldn't get a pilots slot, tried as hard as possible to persue a career as a pilot, taking lessons while in college was really tough when you pay for your own tuition and housing, I tried working for an FBO fueling planes to barter for flying time. Working 7 days a week effected my regular job so I was only able to do it for a summer. Make a long story short, I also never fulfilled my dream, my best friend got a pilot slot and is now a Captain for Southwest. Anyway, you can get a ride in an L39 Albatross which a Russian made subsonic jet trainer out of Chino for $2,900 bucks for an hour canyon run. I'm saving up for that. !!!

Loved the full flight! On a calm day does wake turbulence descend at a given rate? And is it always the assumption that the Airbus is on the Glide Slope? What if the Airbus was following a 777 and was above glide slope? By the way, on that Arrival you flew over my citrus, avocado and mango groves east of San Bernardino. Next time honk your horn, ok?
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 6 лет назад
HAHA! The wake descends at about 300 feet per minute. We usually use the TCAS to see where the airplane in front of us crosses the final approach fix and gauge based on that.

During you flight through LA Center, you spoke of solar panels on homes. The system would be directly connected to the power grid after being processed by solid state electronics to match voltage, frequency and other factors. What you do not use for the home is sold to the power authority in reduced billing. No need to store with batteries unless you are off-grid and need electric during dark hours or cloudy days.

Love it guys! Takes me back to where I grew up in So Cal (KONT) . At minute 38 I see Cucamonga and Ontario Peaks both of which I climbed back in '79 and '80 timeframe. Also was staying in a cabin at Big Bear Lake the weekend Elvis died. I remember the F4 Phantoms taking off from KONT over the house as my mom hung laundry on the clothesline. Ontario and San Bernardino were big citrus growing areas back in the day and the air smelled of citrus. Now its just an urban hell. Yet I digress... Keep up the "full flight" vids. Great to see the full progression of the flight. Cheers.

Sure hope the right seat pilot in this flight can fly single pilot in this very complicated/challenging airplane when the other cowboy/pilot tries to use his oxygen mask at high altitude (obviously not on this short flight) and finds that it doesn’t seal because of all the facial hair that is exactly where the face mask tries to seal and he passes out for good :( Think about it……very unsafe !

I'm sure someone already let you know but if not you got it bass ackwards with the solar power stations. All those panels (mirrors) actually focus sunlight on to one tower, the bright spot you're seeing. All that heat from the light super heats the water in the towers and that steam powers a generator. They have issues around those with birds getting roasted in flight if they happen to fly through the light being focused on that tower by all the mirrors you see surrounding it. I've flown over those too, want to see up close some day but it's still pretty cool to see from the air.

FYI the way the solar farms work is those panels are mirrors and they heat the pipe near the mirror which is full of oil and it transfers it's heat to water which boils and runs a turbine. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_Energy_Generating_Systems
