One thing I remember...Big names in Bollywood supported Vishal Bharadwaj when his Maqbool was released. I saw a news where Aamir, Karan Johar, etc. went for his screening and were appreciating his movie. That compelled me to watch his films and now I am a fan.

What a sweet person Vishal ji is, a great human being, he is an allrounder. Thanks for this interview. oh god. .. vishal sir ne jab last mai woh gaana gaya o saathi re..mere raungte khade ho gaye... uff.. what a man and what a filmography. ! i wish i could listen to him for hours n hours. ( although i dont like his politics specially in Haider but i respect and admire him a lot )

What an amazing conversation! Just love the way Vishal Bharadwaj conceives his movies. Such a beautiful list of films that showcases his craft and his work. Surprisingly, not a single filmmaker of this time could think of making movies on great books and stories. I’m just amazed to see how someone can be so passionate about his work. This was the best episode of Lalantop.

The way he is normalising terrorism in Kashmir and cross border terror industry, has said a lot the mindset of Bollywood’s viewpoint .

1: I remember posting in comments of few other interviews of GITN (like Anurag Kashyap, KK Menon) to ask those people who are friends with VB, about VB because I thought VB himself might not come to GITN (given how reserved he is). GITN ki team ne lekin kamaal kr diya 2: Saurabh bhai apke liye aur apki team ke liye isse bada compliment nhi ho skta jab VB ne kaha ki aise sawaal aur aise jawab usually aate nhi hai interviews mein, bohot maja aya mujhe, main fir aana chahunga Zindabad!

Vishal Bhardwaj (born 4 August 1965) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, music composer and playback singer. He is known for his work in Hindi cinema, and is the recipient of eight National Film Awards and a Filmfare Award. Bhardwaj made his debut as a music composer with the children's film Abhay (The Fearless) (1995), and received wider recognition with his compositions in Gulzar's Maachis (1996). He received the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for the latter. He went on to compose music for the films Satya (1998) and Godmother (1999). For the latter, he garnered the National Film Award for Best Music Direction. Bhardwaj made his directorial debut with the children's film Makdee (2002), for which he also composed the music. He garnered critical acclaim and several accolades for writing and directing the Indian adaptations of three tragedies by William Shakespeare: Maqbool (2003) from Macbeth, Omkara (2006) from Othello, and Haider (2014) from Hamlet. He has also directed the action film Kaminey, the black comedy 7 Khoon Maaf (2011), and the satire Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (2013). In addition, Bhardwaj produces films under his banner VB Pictures. He has co-written and produced the films Ishqiya (2010), its sequel Dedh Ishqiya (2014), and the crime drama Talvar (2015), among others.
