those who scorn chamorros for creating chants and "copying" do not know the pain we feel, knowing the culture of your ancestors was almost completely lost. We are a people looking for ourselves. as islanders we should be helping each other, how would you feel if it was your culture which was assimilated into another and your foreign tongue was changed?
People can't really say shit about chamorros being fake or what cause most of our knowledge and history of the indigenous people of guam has been lost or is vague!
I agree a lot of people believe we just copied the Polynesians but that's not it. We chamorro people nearly lost our culture when the Spanish controlled us.
I’m Chamorro from cnmi. You don’t know shit. We here don’t give a fuck about chants and dances. We are ok and we know our language. We don’t need a dance or whatever
NawBro How can u come up with negative things to say bout our culture. Spanish. Japan. That don't affect me if anything it makes me stronger knowing THEY tried.but didn't wipe us out. The BIGGER picture is regardless what/who/ or how these chants are made, I believe as a CHAMMORRO spirit of our antsesters will not let anyone/anything geta way with disrespecting If anything trust. WONT GO TO FAR.... EVeryone has the rite to have anopinion. And mine is... Ancient or Not. I believe the words may not be same by this CHAMMORRO CHANT has the same exact ANCIENT ENERGY. listen again this time shut up close the eyes i THINK only true CHAMMORROS can feel this one... MYopinion'.only.
He even said they made it up. Bro out of nowhere this chant came out of nowhere. No Chamorros were practicing it. And this chanting shit is like a club. They don’t do this before lisayu or party. And the Spanish people who came and wrote about Saipan before they killed off everyone never wrote about them dancing or chanting.
haha funny lai how gumanians make up they're own chants and dances and pass it off as ancient chamorro custom, it saddens me that our real traditional customs have been lost, but it pisses me off when gumanians make up these dances and chants and whatever else they make up for entertainment and call it traditional or ancient knowing that it is neither one of the two
I believe he said "traditionally styled"... Honestly, it doesn't matter that they're "making up" the chants today, they had to be created at one point or another in time. I think it's good that they're actually doing something at all with respect to the culture.
