This is really a great tribute to the arrangers and musicians behind the gems of Indian Film Music.. which is unique in the world film industry. As someone who has appetite for knowing about these, I dug details wherever and whenever possible...such as a personal meeting with Kersi Lordji, Uttam Singhji, at a concert in BARC. They went on to narrate anecdotes of their experience with Madan Mohan. Similarly in several concerts, ace Saxophonist, Manohari Singh narrated his anecdotes. Similarly Flautist Sudhakar and Guitarist Sadanandam and many others who worked for Illayaraja have been recognised on Tamil TV Channels. There are plenty of music lovers with appetite for knowing about the instrumentalists and arrangers. It would be great to document their own contributions to specific songs through their interviews, (before it's too late).
Very much needed video to bring out the efforts of these great musicians. We only know the actors, the playback singers and the music directors, but at least 50% contribution is of the musicians who create these haunting melodies. Kudos to them for making us musically happy for then, now and forever.
It's a sad story of these behind the curtain music arrangers that they are forgotten and are pushed in oblivion!! Kudos to Rajya Sabha channel for highlighting the contribution of these marvelous musicians.
Of late, I have been following some of the best TV shows and interviews done by Irfan. Though I have been associated with the TV news for nearly two decades, I must confess that the programmes done by Irfan has-been top class and an eye opener in many ways. It brings about the nuances of the music industry which has been seldom touched by anyone. Hats off to Irfan for venturing in those areas where none have ever thought of experimenting. Profound.
Such an eye opener. I used to always wonder if the music director really composed and directed the musicians from start to finish. Now I know different. it is such a shame that the public never knew these competent geniuses that actually composed the melodies we heard. I will now try and find out every time I hear Madam Mohan or S.D Burman to find out who the arranger was. My heart goes to these unsung heroes!! Salutations to all of you from the bottom of my heart!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!
Now I have come to know that Arrangers are the real musician of hindi film songs, however, all credit has been given to composers. Many many thanks to RS tv for providing this information.
Dear Irfan sahab, Dil ko choo gayaa in Amar hastiyon Ki Dastaan ko aap ki zubaani dekh sunkar. Thanks to RS tv. Irfan as narrator is what you look forward to. His episodes are full of content. Stored the episode in my library. You have not only enriched our knowledge but also how to respect our musicians. I'm falling short of words to thank you.
My heart goes with all these musicians the really magicians.....a big thank u to all these super souls ....goose bumps sessions with every piece of music.........
I watched both parts and I will watch them again and again. Those are the true legends who performed in the background. Thanks to Irfan Ji and RSTV for bringing them into the limelight through this wonderful two-part documentary.
My God! I moved to tears to see these legends and to know their simplicity. There is so much in our music industry to be brought foreward. Thanks RSTV for the great work.
Lovely Title "Gumnam Hai Koi" to depict true dilemma behind these unknown legends, these legends shall be given same recognition which famous singers and music directors enjoy.
they all had their own unknown place in our hearts....and sir u all had the privilege giving music to so many stars, singers, actors, and all...feel proud for u
Irfanji my first DANDAVAT PRANAM to you for your indepth research on such an unexplored subject. And ofcourse for your presentation. Sirji my father (violinist) was the first Hindustani Classical Violinist to learn Western from Mr. Anthony Gonsalves and (barter system) taught him Hindustani Classical. Would appreciate you doinhg a story of such unsung artists.
Thank you for giving the artists their due, society can never compensate them adequately, their good music will be forever be in the ears and voices, I love to attend orchestras that tour the world, I always miss the sound of the Accordion or Trumpet or violin, this electronic keyboard can never be the original instrument in sounding. Just like Electronic Chat is not like talking face to face.
This series is very heart touching. Thank you so much for bringing out such a precious information about the Indian music world. It makes me emotional ...
I would like to know so many things about music arrangers and orchestras in hindi film music...for example i would like to know who played the solo drum portions in Teesri Manzil...who played the electric guitar in Around the World in Shanker Jaikishan orchestra...who played the saxophone in Om Shanti Om in Karz...
Never did I know this is the story of how musicians, arrangers , directors arranged great music to iconic movies and banners. This hardwork and combined efforts are worth presenting to the world many times over and over again..lest them never forget it. Salutes. But where are they ?
Realy they are unsung heroes in those days but today some top music directors are giving credit to all instruments players who have contribution in a song recording.
Please if possible try to post videos of live music or song recording in studios by orchestras of the past music directors such as SJ...LP...SD Burman...Madan Mohan..Naushad...
Dear Irafan mian and RSTV, Yeh kalakar ab Gumnaam nahi rahe. A wonderful attempt to put spot light on very deserving team players.Aap ki yeh koshish ek ibadat se kam nahi hai Raj
Thank you sir, for making us realise the hardwork of these gumnam artists whom we have been hearing and enjoying all this time. Hats off to all these artist for making such a divine music. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
A wonderful idea to honor the musicians who are rarely credited for their passion and craft and creativity and never compensated... A real tragedy... I have known many music directors, composers, singers and have been amazed how the musicians and arrangers can make the singers look good and the songs sound excellent.. My hat off to the musicians and arrangers...
It was a great job performed by rstv. Before this article all these arrangers and composers were. unknown These all persons were the ornaments without them the musicians would have no stand.Thank you RSTV..
Never knew that behind those great Songs and Music directors there are such great Arrangers ! no doubt their contribution was never recognized, its very sad. But then a question arises " what was the exact role of a music Director", especially if the arrangers were so talented and accomplished. ??? whatever the answer is, my Salute to these jewels of Indian Music...
I am just speechless. It was amazing and I look for such research especially for musicians and the songs we have been hearing since long. My salute to all of them and special thanks to Irfanji for the initiative and pains taken to bring such a composite video collection to us.
