I think it's because Destiny often leans more liberal so naturally the people who are debating him are more centrist or right leaning and those people are much more open to conversation. A guy like Crowder would sit down with the opposite view on gun control and people would be outraged instead of sitting down and having a conversation. That's just my observation.

If no record, do they just make a badge or something to represent that you've taken it? What's stopping someone from forging this? It's much simpler to just have records of sale and I agree with Destiny to make this electronically available. Honestly, a lot of gun control laws makes little sense. A lot of them are only there to make law abiding people unable to have and carry guns, laws that are so confusing that it entraps citizens and they suffer large fines or years of prison, or laws there to milk money from legal owners. Ex: suppressor, SRBs, short shotguns, conceal carry licenses in certain states, caliber restrictions (no 50 cals), laws against pistol grips, ammo restrictions, mag cap restrictions, serialized firing pins, telescoping stock restrictions, etc. All these laws only affect law abiding citizens negatively and doesn't make them any safer.
@tarzanizcool
@tarzanizcool Год назад
They absolutely do make people safer. In general, restricting access reduces market, even if people buy it illegally. If it “only impacted law abiding citizens” and didn’t reduce crime at all, everyone other country that tightly regulates guns would have the same, or worse, gun crime that we do, but that’s just not the case. Now, is it worth it/ought we limit these freedoms in order to get that increase in safety? That’s a different question, but it’s pretty undeniable that all things equal, run restrictions make countries (or states) safer.
@johnsonjunior547
@johnsonjunior547 Год назад
I think it's all lip service to say they did something. The suppressor thing alone shows that the lawmakers and public has never heard a suppressed gun, you can't sleep through it like in the movies. Suggestions like Destiny made about providing proof of being able to lock your guns up sound good. The problem is there are so many laws that could theoretically save lives of children but no one would agree they are good laws. So many kids die from drowning every year in America. I think there should be a law that until you provide the government with proof that your child has passed level 5 swim lessons from the Red Cross, your kid should have to wear a life jacket 24/7. This law would save many lives. Who would not be in favor of this?
@HienLe-zc6hu
@HienLe-zc6hu Год назад
But if you were not watching ur kid when they had no swimming experience at a 6 feet deep pool/lake/Ocean. That would be absolute neglect. That would be a better comparison to not locking up ur guns in a safe when you have children that get into places. Not only that, but children finding ur gun can also hurt other as well
@Nathan-ok1dq
@Nathan-ok1dq Год назад
@@HienLe-zc6hu Yes and parents can often be charged for neglect if something happens but there are levels of intervention that are inappropriate. For example the government could mandate a number of things before people are allowed to have children but that's a clear violation of people's rights.
@HienLe-zc6hu
@HienLe-zc6hu Год назад
@@Nathan-ok1dq is it violation of human right if we are asking for min. Safety standards. Like it isn't a violation of right that we mandate children seats for children under a certain age and seatbelt. Why is it inappropriate that we ask that parents require lockup of guns when there are children in the house?
@Nathan-ok1dq
@Nathan-ok1dq Год назад
@@HienLe-zc6hu You could make the argument that seatbelts are, but there's a stronger argument for regulation of public roads than there is for private households. While the law will often punish parents who behave irresponsibly it feels hard to argue a compelling governmental interest in this considering more children die from drowning each year than from accidental gun deaths. That's not saying that safe storage isn't important, just that government would need to show why it's justified in curtailing rights (what about poor people, etc...).

Out of curiosity, do you think parents should be held responsible if their kid decides to take their unsecured gun and harm themselves or others? Because right now, a surprising amount of states have no laws regarding this, and the general public discourse doesn’t seem to hold parents accountable. For comparison, if a child steals your car and crashes into someone or something, the parent is held accountable as if they themselves did the damage/harm. If you decide that you want to keep your gun accessible and ready to use, you should be then held accountable if it’s MISused, just as you are in the case of vehicles.

Destiny is wrong about how easy it is to manufacture firearms. I do have a specific skill set as a metalworker, however, the knowledge I have know has helped me understand how easy it is to make something that can effectively kill. For instance, a extremely simple but effective firearm used in Philippines during WW2 was the slamgun or slam shotgun. Essentially it's just a couple of tubes, a nail, and a shotgun shell. If you're mechanically inclined you can build yourself a "Luty" submachinegun with parts from a hardware store. Ammunition, on the other hand, is difficult to manufacture.

Destiny’s whole deal with the coordination needed for the Uvalde shooting was stupid asf. They aren’t going to be running into one another because most of them either came in together or are in direct communication with one another. And even if they did, they knew where the shooter was most of the time they were in the building anyway. The fact he tried to call the other guy’s response “emotional” when he just describing the TAUGHT procedure of dire circumstances is weird. I think the idea he was saying is in a situation where the information is minimum but what we do know is kids are being killed theres a high probability of some cops going in and with high adrenaline fucking up royally. Despite training its still a very high stress situation with the possibility of a lot of mistakes so at least some coordination would be good. Now maybe that whole department happens to have a bunch of cops who shouldnt be cops and maybe its full of followers instead of leaders and that can be criticized but if its true that a cop is taught to just disorganizedly go into an active shooting situation and fix it yourself then thats wild and our entire training needs to be modified drastically.

@@florida12341000 I’m the guy that Steve was talking to with the beard. When cops show up to an active shooter situation, they immediately radio in to dispatch to let other cops know where they are, what door they are going into, and what area of the school they will be searching first. Then, after the first group goes in, and cops that show up later can call on the radio to the cops that are already in and coordinate with them to start searching the other parts of the school. Active shooter training hammers this point in your mind over and over again, and communication is second in priority only to finding the shooter and perforating his face. Now, if cops are like the ones in Uvalde and all fucked up, then yeah, training isn’t going to be followed. But that’s an issue with the cops, not the training.

There are tons of videos where cops almost shoot each other in a tense situations. Most of the those being because they don’t know where other officers are at. It WOULD be an emotional response, much like your comment.

So the guys that show up and actually do what they are supposed to, unlike those Uvalde pieces of shit, are the ones that are most likely to have taking that training to heart and are most likely to perform well under immense stress, thereby the ones that are most likely to do things in a quick and coordinated way and are the most likely to either stop the threat or die trying.

The taxpayers are going to pay for it and maybe that private citizen too. How much do you think it will be to go to a training class that can last for hours being taught by "trained" and state "certified" professionals? What kind of liability would that cause on behalf of the state for not training people properly up the standard? What would that standard be? What if you were disabled? What about the poor that live in the most crime-dense areas that could use that protection the most? What if they can't afford the training? Are they just out of luck? How many more arrests will be made because a person is carrying a firearm without proper certifications? There's a lot to be said here.

The problem though, is that once you get to that level, you will continue to have people who are not satisfied until all guns are gone, and will continue to push for more and more gun control (Canada's recent Liberal amendments over the last few years are a good example). So long as hardcore anti-gun stance exists in the world, politicians will leverage that for their platform even without sufficient data to support certain policies. First person: "What we have now is good, everywhere, in all states. I don't know what exactly we have now, and I am unsure about what was added lately, and I know it's unlikely that everything we have now just magically happened to be exactly perfect, but I feel like it is."

Gotta say that Destinys argument for abortion doesn't work. He said he was looking for when old people die and when they don't have a conciousness, the difference between that and new life is that the forementioned is dying while the other is just starting to live, so ending something that is ending is not the same as ending something that is starting to live.
