In this episode we decide to talk about the guy that shows up to the range with expensive rifles and thinks he knows everything. This is a guy that buys a cheap AR and loads the thing down with $3000 worth of accessories or he buys a $3000 AR and puts a cheap $50 red dot on it. This is also the guy that hands his 90 pound girlfriend a Desert Eagle, and she has never shot a gun in her life. We all know 'that guy'...

Thanks Gramps! Lol jk anyways it's good that he set you straight. Shit I get nervous going to the range with people I actually know unless I know they've been around guns long enough to understand safety let alone randos in the lanes next to me who don't know what they're doing. We all make mistakes but the range is definitely not the place to make any. Big ups to grandpa lol!

I love Gun Gripes, it's by far one of my favorite shows to watch. I'm a late bloomer to the gun community and this show has been incredibly helpful shaping my firearm education. I will miss Barry, one of the best teachers I ever had. I never comment but I had to at some point. This is by far the best community I've been in, mainstream media tried to keep me away but they can't keep people away from truth and reason for too long.

One time I went shooting 22 with my dad at our local indoor range, and while I was loading up some magazines this pretty skinny guy and his girlfriend walk in, I'm like, don't let this be what I'm thinking, then he pulls out a 357 magnum revolver(forgot what model) and hands it to the girl. She walks up to the lane and shoots it once, it flies back and hits her flat in the chest, almost knocking her over. That guy picked up the same gun and shot it, getting hit in the face instead, they quickly unloaded the revolver and skitted out.

I am so glad my range doesn't have any 1 shot per second rule. My range allows safe fast fire if u aren't safe then they restrict how fast u can shoot. If there is someone next to me that is trying to sight in his gun or some other accuracy tweeking then I will not fast fire while they are firing. It's just having common courtesy.
@chriskelly509
@chriskelly509 7 лет назад
at a local range they told me 1 round per second and I asked what happened for them to make that rule, 8 feet above in the over head cover there are bullet holes in the ceiling area.... the range officer said "that's why"

I kind of want to try airsoft, but I don't know what kind of people normally go. When I used to go paintball as a kid it was alawys people my age, and one like 40 year old guy. Sometimes he was cool and gave us tips, but a lot if times he was a weirdo trying to bond with kids. I'd need to get someone around 26 to go with me so I wouldn't be secluded alone the whole time.

yeah all thats fine but he should at least have plates in it. i usually cant stand the amount of hate people like this get (ninjas). they dont deserve any of it. and hell yeah im gonna rapid fire im gonna have fun. i train alot and by train i dont mean (their definition of practice which certainly is practice but its not something that includes a whole lot of a defensive mindset. basically a fudd's definition of training. any way iv8888 has changed over the years to include a whole lot more things revolving around tactics and just plain fun) "earl" from the nra standing at a still range with a false sense of security. i mean taking classes on a regular basis and reading up, dry fire, etc. i am a firm believer in that you train how you fight. and lets face it. the fight is nothing like the still range. its important yes, though its not enough to be as efficient as possible under stress. i know i went on an internet rant, and im sorry but my point is that why should it matter? its his choice. if he fucks up let him learn the lesson. dont be a kill joy about it, but i do love how yall had a nice joking attitude towards it

John Webster Exactly... nor even have any Facebook or social network with my real name, my face, etc... Not that I have anything to hide, not at all, but just that I don't think it's very wise to show the world (including the government) what you have. They already know more than enough and it's none of their business. And I'm not an anti-government. I actually do believe in Rules of Law... I just like the government to be as small as possible. I live in a small town where the houses are fairly close together. One new year night at exactly midnight our cable went out. The next morning I went out to check our line and found in the alley where someone had fired a shotgun in the air with what appeared to be small game shot. They hit the lines on the pole running down the alley. I can not understand what goes through peoples heads that makes them think stuff like that is safe.
@mikewhitman745
@mikewhitman745 3 года назад
They were just following Biden's instructions, I'm sure their house was being broken into and we were all told to shoot shotguns randomly into the air. I bet some people are stupid enough to think it's a good idea.

I have a "high dollar" range ninja story everyone will laugh about, this was a good 6-7 years ago when I first started really getting into shooting. I was at my local gun club plinking at 300yds with my 22wmr and this guy walks in with a barret 99 in the .416 barret cartridge hes got the massive pelican case and a seperate case for his scope and spends a good 15 minutes trying to get the scope mounted into a larue bracket and on his gun (obviously the first time shooting the thing) and I just ignored him I was busy testing different ammo brands and gathering drop data, and didnt want to seem like a jerk going over and asking him if he needed help. Anyway at 300yds the 22wmr is no powerhouse and I was shooting at an 8" round steel gong target and when the round hits there is a barely audible ping, anyway I noticed that every time I would shoot this guy would look over his shoulder at me and shake his head or snicker or something similar, so after 30-40 rounds I finally got tired of it and went over and said (in the most condescending tone possible) "it looks like your having problems mounting that scope. Dont worry some people just have a tough time the first time they do it" He got pretty mad and said something about it being a new scope and mount, and then quipped " its not like Im mounting a scope on a little girls rifle so it takes time" and he looked over at my gun and forced a laugh, that really pissed me off. So I told him I could outshoot him on any gun he chose and since he never shot his barret before I could probably outshoot him with my 22wmr at 300yds against his gun. Well we got his scope mounted, and he got behind it to start zeroing the scope and when he shot the first round he was soooo not ready for the punishing recoil and muzzle blast of that damn thing that he actually stood up and shook his head like he was seeing stars. ( I really should have told him how to sit, he was really crooked in the seat, and in some wierd Tom Berringer "Sniper" inspired position, but I wanted him to feel the shame, and eat some humble pie. Not the most responsible thing to do I know, but hes a big dude at least 6' 220 so I figured he could take it) I asked to shoot it and he was happy to let me try hoping Id get kicked just as hard, but I set up right, I put it on the bipod not sandbags and wood blocks, and didnt have an issue. its a hard recoiling round to be sure, but Id rather shoot that Barrett .416 than a .300 win mag out of a 9lb hunting rifle. I showed him how to sit square behind the gun and showed him use the bipod with a few sandbags behind the feet. And really lean into the bipod to mitigate the recoil, well he was still just terrified of that gun, and I cant blame him thats one hell of an introduction to a gun, and he couldnt land more than 1 out of 5 on the 300yd target after I had zeroed him. he was flinching like mad. Anyway I won our little "competition" and took one of his super expensive bronze alloy .416 rds as a prize and he didnt come back for a few weeks, when he did he has a Savage 93 22wmr just like mine, and is actually a pretty cool guy. He was very eager to learn to shoot, he is a quick study and has the patience for it. He stepped up in guns and calibers as he got better and is now just as good as I am He did eventually get back to shooting his Barrett and he isnt afraid of it anymore. Moral of the Story? Dont spend $9,000 and another $3,000 on a scope to put on an anti material sniper rifle for your first gun...

What the hell is wrong with a 300 win mag? I don't understand why some people are so deathly afraid of the more powerful rounds. Hell, after shooting my dad's 300 ultra mag at 15, I wanted one...
@SavageShooter93
@SavageShooter93 9 лет назад
Zach J There is nothing wrong with a .300 win mag, All i said was I would rather shoot all day with a heavy ass Barrett in .416 all than a 9lb .300 Win Mag. And as a first experience someone unprepared for a round like a .300 win mag or any hard recoiling round isnt good, Especially when they arent set up correctly and the recoil actually knocks the hell out of them.
@DeFaZeDxxPREdATOR
@DeFaZeDxxPREdATOR 9 лет назад
SavageShooter93 Okay, I got the impression that you were making it out to be a horribly painful gun to shoot, and it honestly isn't. Just messing around, you probably punch your buddies in the shoulder harder than the gun will ever kick, be that .300 win mag or .300 ultra mag. I'm also curious who let him buy a .416 as his first rifle.
@The_Cholo
@The_Cholo 7 лет назад
SavageShooter93 22s would be fun to shoot if they were fun to shoot, granted it is dirt cheap, the same can be said for 7.62 in a rifle, no recoil, cheap to shoot, you can pop a few thousand rounds a day through it with no issue whatsoever. even in a pistol the 9mm is dirty dirt dirt cheap and wont put a quarter inch of recoil on your wrist even if you barely hold the fucker, point being, 22 being fun to shoot seems to come from people who either cant handle anything bigger or simply are inexperienced and havent had the chance to shoot any round of actual substance

Its not wrong to buy a nice firearm and put quality components on it is it? You should do a Gripe video about range users who leave their trash and casings and old targets up and all over the place, then the responsible shooters always end up cleaning it up because we like a clean range, and they mess it up all again

Let me tell you guys something....I have never heard of, nor read about, nor seen a video of a trained or untrained officer using his firearm is a self defense situation, shooting at the rate of fire of 1 shot per second. If you never shoot higher rates of fire and practice at higher rates of fire, you are handicapping yourself should you be put in a self defense situation. Shame on a range that only wants you to target shoot your pistol and shame on another shooter who thinks he is being disrupted by gunfire at whatever rate! Its a blessing that someone is spending their money to give you that distraction and added stress.

That particular rule is more aimed (no pun intended) at preserving the state of the range. Ranges are obviously designed take bullets, but the walls and ceiling are usually only designed to withstand a rare errant shot. allowing every Call of Duty wannabe to mag dump as fast as they can is going to rack up a lot of damage.

So IR, What about the guy with the decked out AR with the kitchen sink who goes out and shoots safely, asks for help when he needs it and actually tries to exercise the principles of marksmanship? It seems like you guys, and many others care more about what a person's gun looks like than how they shoot. I get griping about unsafe or stupid people. But craping on people who aren't purists is something that I don't like about the gun community. You shit on the guys who buy cheap weapons and accessorize them, then you shit on the people who buy expensive weapons and accessorize them, and you claim that they are the dangerous ones. Really? Without any knowledge of what hes going to do to try to operate that weapon properly, hes a POS because of his accessories.
@SavageShooter93
@SavageShooter93 9 лет назад
you're right there are a few people who are new and went and bought lights and lasers and foregrips and all sorts of other stuff just because they think they need it. they may not know much but its not important because they know they need help. those people arent "range ninjas". They are just new shooters who havent had to work through issues with gear yet. they will learn in just a few hours that having all that crap on the gun really sucks Its the people with everything and the kitchen sink who think they know everything because they play call of duty or watched Black Hawk Down 47 times that are the range ninjas. The whole thing about the way the gun looks is an indicator, people who are experienced, and or who do more than sit on a bench with an AR-15 and punch paper at 100yds usually figure out pretty quick that all that crap hanging off of a gun is useless for what they do. Sure I could mount a $700 IR laser on my gun, or even a cheap $50 one but why? I dont need it, I barely "need" a flashlight. After carrying a gun in a class for a while you realize how crappy it is to have a 9-10lb AR, something that is pretty easy to do with a big heavy rifle length quad rail, a surefire light and mount a laser and a foregrip. not to mention a stock full of batteries ( something Ive never understood, use a damn pocket) So seeing a guy with a gun that just has everything ever made hanging off the side is usually a pretty good indicator that he is either brand new and doesnt know much which is perfectly fine we were all new once, or has been parking that monstrosity for years on a bench and punching paper and since he has "ran an AR for years" he thinks he/she knows everything regardless of the fact that they have probably never even shot the gun while standing.

I took my new M&P 15-22 to an indoor range, and I'll tell you, that's a hard gun to shoot only once a second. Luckily, it was towards the end of the day, and the range was clearing out. I loaded up a 25 round mag, and as soon as the only other shooter left walked out the door, I dumped the whole mag downrange. I just had to do it once, and I didn't know when the next opportunity would arise. But I would never have done it with other people there, because that shit is annoying, but it's also really fun.

Calling a mag dump unsafe is ridiculous. You guys gripe about such stupid stuff, if they pay their time and obey range rules (which many allow rapid fire) then who are you to gripe? I don't like black powder or large caliber pistols next to me when I'm going for accuracy, well guess what when the time comes that I need to shoot back I don't get to be picky about what is going on around me. Learn to shoot under adverse conditions, call out unsafe behavior but don't cry about the way people have fun or prefer their gun set up. Talk about lack of perspective. The presumptions you lay on people is astounding.

Awesome video as always. As an RO I get to see my share of range ninjas. Overly and cheaply outfitted AR's are the most common. My favorites are the M4's with a HUGE but very cheap scope and a bipod. The whole concept of a carbine totally escapes them. I had to holler at a guy for rapid firing 2 Glocks , one in each hand, spraying lead everywhere. He looked at me innocently and said "But I've seen this in movies" and then acted all butthurt when I told him he could only shoot one at a time.
