“You don’t need an AR-15 for self defense.” That myth is one of the biggest imo. Easy rebuttal: crimes (especially home invasions) are constantly committed by more than one person. Those extra rounds could definitely be needed depending on the threat.
Need is irrelevant when talking about self defense. To quote Colion Noir "In a home defense scenario, I'm not looking for a fair fight." I for one want every advantage to be at my disposal when it's my life or the life of someone I care about at stake. I have 30 rounds and the home invader only has 10? Great! Could I get the job done with less? Yes, but why would I want to?
@@XXStrong1 but to just say you “want every advantage” is not enough for these people. That’s why I brought up a specific scenario that happens quite a lot where you could absolutely NEED more than 10 rounds. They don’t care what you want. Actually, they don’t really care at all what we have to say; I don’t even know why we try.
But just ask Joe Red Coat Biden. You only need a double barrel shotgun. Just fire a round in to the air to scare them off. That way you only have on round left to disable everyone else. I mean the McClosky’s (sp?) in St Louis didn’t need all 30 rounds in the AR to defend themselves against several “peaceful protestors” that were so meek they were only able to ALMOST destroy a wrought iron gate. I hope we can all “hear” the sarcasm in my comments.
Easier to aim and shoot with an AR than with a pistol. My only issue is wall penetration. You could shoot through the neighbor's house if you're not careful.
You don't need just 1 ar15 for self defense against a teranical government that is why I have 1 chambered in 223 wylde 2 in 300 blackout 1 in 9mm one in 10mm one in 45acp a better question to ask is do you really need a tank and the answer still is yes

To be fair deer are a lot tough than most people but even then most hunting rifles fire more powerful rounds, even the humble 30-30 is a lot meaner than a .223 at close ranges. Now obviously I wouldn't want to get shot with neither but you can pick up what I'm putting down.
The media: "You can't fight the government with AR-15s, they have tanks and drones!" Also the media: "The AR-15 is a deadly weapon of war that should be banned!"
@Fossil Diver as you may know, soon after that Benjamin Franklin discovered Napalm and affixed canisters of it to the bottom of his recreational B-52 before flying off to destroy the entire British Navy.
You know, because of you, i went out and bought a Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport and realized.... THIS THING IS F@#%# AMAZING!!! I was so impressed, i bought another for my dad
For the real maths, you have to get into fluid dynamics and all sorts of advanced physics. Just looking at the numbers, you'd tell me that a 5.56 at 10 yards is more powerful than a standard 44 magnum, and therefore, the 5.56 will cause more damage, because it's more powerful, but you'd be wrong. Kinetic energy ≠ damage.
@@excore1322 The FBI uses ballistic gelatin, which does its best to incorporate the fluid dynamics element into a repeatable process. Go watch videos of 10% FBI ballistic gelatin tests using 44mag and 5.56, and you tell me which does more damage.
@@reddenw5501 I did went and watched, v=o3iloqIj-qM and v=fX4ODh1g4eM and clearly 556 has bigger initial impact and left bigger cavity, even tho 44 mag had expansive bullet and had better energy transfer (bullet slowed down more than 556)

I wish that I had gotten two of the M&P upper I got in 5.45x39. CHF CL barrel with polygonal rifling shot that steel jacketed 7n6 ammo surprisingly well. I retired it after the ammo ban but I am thinking about resurrecting it to test ammo with.
My Mark 12 Mod 0 5.56 upper is equipped with a 18" Douglas 416 stainless steel barrel 1-7 twist , shoots sub MOA all day long with Iron sights! Love Douglas Barrels for rifle builds!
Speaking of the power of the 5.56/.223 my fiancé uses a .223 hunting rifle for deer and I’ve said to her about upgrading because it doesn’t have the stopping power of other rounds but this past year she dropped a deer with one round through the heart split the heart directly in half and it died before it hit the ground so without a doubt the 5.56/.223 can be used effectively for killing larger game with correct shot placement just like these guys are saying in this video. Well said guys thanks for the content. 💯
As a Marine '81-'85, one of the combat vets in 1/1 would call the M16A1 'The Matell Toy", or "The Plastic Gun" while comparing it to the M14 or M1. Matell did make the Delta handgards for it to be fair to the veteran. Between the A1 and A2 I shot expert 5 times in a row on qual day once a year. The iron front sight post covered the whole target at 500 meters so I am happy with my EOtech and magnifier on my AR15 shooting 3/8" groups at 100 yards. America's Rifle! Hell ya.
I’d like to say that my AR identifies as a shotgun, not sure when transmunition rights will be addressed on this channel, but I’m going to keep in the fight
My AR identifies as a Microchip installation device. The microchips allow bad guys to talk to the God of their choice. All other firearms are in fact High Speed Wireless Security Devices.
"An AR-15 isn't good for hunting." Tell that to the hog I killed with my AR-15 last year. And I did it with m855 ball ammo, which is probably the worst hunting round ever made.
Theres what you can do. And there whats ethical. I can shoot a blackbear in the eye with a 22 magnum. Is it going to kill it? Probalbly but if i make a bad shot no. Better to overdo it and use the 30-06. Cut the tip off round ball ammo when shooting animals it will make the bullet expand and tranfers more energy. That ammo was designed to mame and wound man sized targets.
In my state to hunt deer requires 6mm or more. So you'll have to choose 25-45, or 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC or 300 Blackout, or 350 Legend or 450 Bushmaster or... You get the point.
@@mikespangler98 In my state, the legal requirement for "necked rifle cartridges" is .223 caliber for hunting game mammals such as feral goats, feral hogs and deer.
@@iamalpharius3959 that's a myth, I've tested it religiously. I came to the conclusion that without the proper scoring on the jacket that almost all soft point and ballistic tips have the projectile will not open up regardless of cutting the tip and drilling a hole in it.
@@TOO_RAW i mean fmj soft points and hollow points will reliably expand and transfer energy. If you using mil surp ammo becuase your on a budget cutting a flat tip and drilling a little hole in the bullet can be a great way to increase lethality on soft targets.
My AR is in 7.62x39. Aero Precision lower with a BCA rifle length upper. I added a nickel boron bcg and enhanced firing pin. Has never failed to go boom. It's scoped and if I do my job right it'll do clover leafs at 100 yds with the Hornady Black ammo. Very pleased with it.
Most if not all of us agree. The problem is those that need to hear and understand this information either aren’t going to watch the video or refuse to accept the information. Keep up the good work y’all!
I wanted an AR for many years and just couldn't afford one. I was blessed with a good job recently, put my first AR in layaway, payed it out, and after shooting less than one mag I'm already building my second one 🤣. They're like crack. So many upper, lower, caliber, and accessory combinations, it's unreal. I love ARs!
First AR I bought back in the day was a Del-Ton DT Sport Lite and that thing is still throwing lead and I barely ever clean it at all. Looking back now that I am much more into the platform, that thing has operated phenomenally for its price point at the time.
Regarding the issues in Vietnam Colt had hyped up the gun as "self-cleaning" and the military believed them when they bought them, which is why they didn't issue cleaning kits at first. They quickly found that wasn't true, which issue was exasperated by the military using different ammo than what Colt had specified without testing the change. They subsequently issued cleaning kits and changed the ammo and the guns then performed for the rest of the conflict. Every attempt to replace the AR in military service since then has failed as every design tested hasn't been better. Except the Marines which are currently transitioning to the HK 416, a piston AR that is more than 90% compatible with standard AR parts.
biggest issue with colt ar, was the gas tube plugging , from real bad powders.....would clean mine about once a day or when necessary...nbdeal...you just handled it.
Stick powder to ball powder or vice versa , I read about that too. I like the stoner design but I really wish we would have adapted the 6.8spc a long time ago.

I'm putting 5" groups together with my first rifle I've owned. At 200 yards. It's a PSA 18" with a Vortex Spread Eagle 1-6x. Green tips, Federal, IMI, and Winchester. Put over 1000 rounds through it without a single malfunction. Total build cost was about $1050 with optic. If you take away the iron sights it came with the total comes up to $1k. I don't do mag dumps or anything with it.... Though I have done one at a VERY moderate pace--just enough to get the oil smoking.
Just took down a big 8 point whitetail last week with my BCM 16” middy. I’ve killed lots of deer in my life, and this hit the deck just as good as they do with my 300 win mag. Myth busted.
I've personally helped track a wounded deer shot badly by a .300 weatherby mag. , for a over a mile and a half and couple of hours. Power and bullet construction only count when it hits it mark
The vaporizing pumpkins are also many times filled with other substances to make them a more energetic target. Filling them with fluids to increase hydraulic pressures for instances. Tannerite and even the modern equivalents of dynamite have been used to get a more visual effect in videos as well, usually to fool the unknowing non gun owners.
You are spot on when it comes to upgrading...I have a Ruger AR556 with a WMD nickel boron BCG as its only upgrade. 300 round range sessions and never an issue.
I used to believe that but then I heard about 223 having poor penetration through walls, though that doesn't sound like it makes sense. Idk I'm sticking with 9mm and birds hot 12g
@@Arcticroberto9376 that's what makes 5.56 and .223 great for home defense. There's a less likelihood of unwanted casualty. I definitely don't want to hurt anyone unintentionally when protecting myself. Think about it my man.
@@Arcticroberto9376 223/5.56 doesn’t penetrate that well because the bullets tumble after impact. The same reason they aren’t great against rifle rated body armor.
The Army standard for the M4 is 4cm (roughly 1.5 inches) at 25 meters. If you think about it, that's about 5-3/4 MOA! Quick math: 25m = 27.3403yd 100yd / 27.3403yd = 3.657 4cm = 1.574in 1.574in(at 25m) x 3.657 = 5.756in at 100yd = 5.756 MOA If you can shoot 5-3/4 MOA or better in the "prone-supported" position, you meet the U.S. Army standard for M4.
Just a small gripe about the math. If you're going to split hairs and go that far into the calculations using that many decimal points, you might as well use the minute of angle measurement at 100yds with the same number of decimal points. The 1" @100yds is rounded down very slightly as it's close enough for nearly all practical uses.
Rack grade guns that get shot a ton have to have loose requirements. Civillian ar15s are known to be superior for accuracy. I like 223 over 5.56 for the accuracy increase
@@jonmeray713 In my opinion, the 5-3/4 MOA Army standard is a low standard. But, anyone that can manage to do at least that much should be able to hit a man-sized target anywhere on the body out to 300 yards. If an AR-15 doesn't shoot sub MOA, it doesn't mean that it's a junk rifle. An inexpensive Palmetto State Armory AR-15 or a Smith and Wesson M&P15 that can shoot 2 to 3 MOA is good enough accuracy for most applications in my opinion.
Trapper Scout id never accept that kind of imprecise rifle as a civillian, but yes,a minute of paper plate rifle will work just fine. Accurate but not precise.
I built a WC AR15 18” bull barrel, sub MOA all day, I shoot precision 100 yards beat bolt guns all the time. My cold bore shot is .25” high. Very impressed with Wilson Combat Barrels. Great show.
How about a couple more AR myths: “AR-15’s look evil and scary.” Well guess what, the AR looks are no different than pretty much any gun in general, and AR’s are actually simple and beautiful guns for almost any application. “AR-15’s are complicated to maintain.” Well guess what, AR-15’s are actually simple to use and maintain. For instance, even a first time gun owner can start with an AR.
Yes but they need RU-vid to learn how to field strip and clean down to the bolts extractor. Most ar15 gun manuals can’t teach a newb how to break it down and clean
THE reason the gubmint doesn't want the AR in public hands is thus: An experienced user/instructor can take a student from 8 to 80yrs old to the range and with 20 minutes of instruction, have said student hitting a man size target out to 400 yards. THAT is why they hate it when we posses them. It's a low recoil, high capacity, fairly powerful and ACCURATE rifle. THAT is why it has been in service in the military for so long. It's not that it is ideal for EVERY situation but it is effective in a broad range of situations. (Be afraid of ANYONE who fears good people being armed!)
223 , 243 , 273 all great hunting calibers. Took my first deer with a 223 Remington bolt action at around 100yds. I happen to get my hands on a brand new colt 6920le before colt stopped civilian production.
I think that what the media preaches , is the capacity of the AR. Hunting rifles in my state can only have a 5 round capacity. I have a 5 round mag for mine as well as many standard capacity mags for range and emergency use. Great video. Keep it up.
Also loving the fact that you guys continue to show love to the Smith & Wesson M&P Sport II AR. I have one, and it's pretty rad. Accurate, and probably my favorite rifle out of the rifles I own.
Thanks for the 'Nam mention. I'm a Karl Marlantes fan. He wrote a brutally honest novel about 'Nam, called Matterhorn. He was also in a Ken Burns documentary on PBS. I am new to the AR15 platform and I just got my first AR-15 which is a 80% build and I am very pleased with the way it performed so far, I have put 400 rounds through it and in between cleaning it during barrel breaking in there was no failures and I had very little trouble zero it in , I am very interested in your opinion about 80% builds , I really am hooked on the American Rifle

The most import resource I can ever share with people in regards to AR's is to check out School of the American Rifle. I thought I knew a lot about AR's until I found SOTOR. The logo/brand of the rifle/parts don't matter. It's all about testing and gauging to see if they're in spec.

Have you heard the one from the Philippines that claims it was invented by a Filipino named Armando Lite? Armalite was said to be a contraction of his name. 😂
I have several ARs in different calibers for different things. I have built a standard 5.56 wrapped in the constitution. The next build was a 7.62x39 with a spiral fluted bull barrel and compensator, and the next build was a 308 18 inch heavy barrel set up for hunting
Mine was quite heavy with just the following: MTAC 1-4 scope, bipod, flashlight. I think the long 13" Troy Alpha rail is most to blame though (got it back in 2012). I want to just get a 10.5" upper and throw that on there but I'm too lazy to start the paperwork on it. 😢

Sitting around the camp fire one night, one dude is talking about the AR he is building, I start asking questions, he gets a confused look on his face. Turns out him “building and AR” meant he picked parts at Rainier arms that they were putting together.
Stoner made the AR 10 but it was actually Colt that changed it to 556 an the AR 15,I was one of the three kids that demonstrated the gun for Colt for the US Army who ended up contracting with Colt for the weapon .I was 9 years old and my brother and friend were seven. We fired the weapon off our chin ,sternum and then gonads at a makeshift running deer our gun club had.The Engineer was Dan Fitzpatrick who pretty much set the whole thing up.
Yes too low powered for hunting. It isn't even designed to kill people. It's designed to incapacitate them. Other than the full auto and weight reasons that was a major reason countries moved from .30 calibre rifles to intermediate rifles. They were less bothered about 1 shot kills because it was actually an advantage to injure rather than kill because then other men in that squad would have to deal with their injured colleague.

From what I’m seeing on the internet nowadays is that SOF guys or as they’re named USSOCOM are actually starting to use 11.5” or 12.5” for close combat missions, depending on the mission and other factors so... I think 11.5/12.5” are becoming the new hotness because of that and because of the gain in velocity that you can get from adding 1 or 2 more inches to the barrel length. Gun control is about racism and slavery This Patriotic Veteran approves this mesg Gun deaths There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. The U.S. population is 324,059,091 as of June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.00925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death: • 65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws. • 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified. • 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons - better known as gun violence. • 3% are accidental discharge deaths. So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Now lets look at how those deaths spanned across the nation. • 480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago • 344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore • 333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit • 119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years) So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause. This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1. Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand, it is not guns causing this. It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So if all cities and states are not created equal, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths. Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assault are all done by criminals. It is ludicrous to think that criminals will obey laws. That is why they are called criminals. But what about other deaths each year? • 40,000+ die from a drug overdose-THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT! • 36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths. • 34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities(exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide). Now it gets good: • 200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer walking in the worst areas of Chicago than you are when you are in a hospital! • 710,000 people die per year from heart disease. It’s time to stop the double cheeseburgers! So what is the point? If the liberal loons and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.). A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total number of gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides ................ Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions! So you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns? It's pretty simple: Taking away guns gives control to governments. The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did by trying to disarm the populace of the colonies. It is not difficult to understand that a disarmed populace is a controlled populace. Thus, the second amendment was proudly and boldly included in the U.S. Constitution. It must be preserved at all costs. So the next time someone tries to tell you that gun control is about saving lives, look at these facts and remember these words from Noah Webster: "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed." What ever happen to up hold the Oath of office to protect and up hold the CONSTITUTION of the USA....NOT MAKE YOUR OWN RULES/LAWS...
I have 2 AR's that I only put together for hunting...... .223 for coyotes and 300 blackout for hogs. I catered the blackout to being light weight and I love it. Inside of 100 yards I would be confident using my blackout on deer.
