YEEHAW for some rootin' tootin' and revampin' on one of Capcom's classic games and soundtracks: Gun.Smoke! A very fun top down shooter that takes the conventions of usually being in some kind of aircraft or vehicle, but puts you right on the ground as a non-stop walking gunslinger! It's got all the usual quality Capcom qualities with solid controls and colorful graphics, all made better by the fitting soundtrack by Junko Tamiya! This would be one of her early soundtracks she did at the company, before becoming most well known for Bionic Commando which she would follow shortly after this, the music fits the tones very well of each stage and boss, Capcom composers are brilliant in matching the music with the mood of the game, which is helped by Yoshihiro Sakaguchi's sound driver that is used in so many of the company's games. The FDS version that the Japan version was released as is infamous for missing music as apparently due to hardware limitations they decided to cut tracks out (3 stage tunes and 3 boss tunes), making the FDS version feel like an incomplete listen. Also made sure to show both box art variants that apparently the North American release had, with the first one shown being what was originally printed and actually the 2nd variant was used on the cartridge art of the original box art release, very interesting they would eventually change the box to the cartridge art as well, either way, makes for fun collecting! Enjoy this classic Capcom OST! :)
Hi Niko, would it be possible for you to upload the OST of the recently released Montezuma's Revenge for NES? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-444q6vPzxcY.html
@@realmczappa Red Dead Revolver was originally going to be developed under Capcom's supervision by Angel Studios before the project was revised into what we got as Red Dead Revolver on the PlayStation 2. The game was made as a spiritual successor to Gun.Smoke and got two other games, those being Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2. So in a domino effect kind of way, Gun.Smoke is responsible for Red Dead Redemption 2.
It makes me laugh that I was watching several of your videos and I already said that you were missing, I reload the page and BOOM, new video haha, it's good to see you back
All-time classic! I'm not ashamed to say this game gets in my rotation frequently. Still need to finish the 3rd loop for the true ending, sore fingers and no turbo are holding me back.
I like the Indian song on this game I haven't played this game in so long that I forgot that I used to play it until I heard that Indian song and I was like wait a minute now I remember I did used to have this game
To this very day, I have no clue why *NINJAS* were in a Western Shoot 'Em Up. A sword can't beat a gun...unless you're Rurouni Kenshin. 13:42 Best Theme in the game!
The NES version feels much more complete. The Disk System one felt very unfinished, and the use of the Town of Hicksville theme in the last stage was very out of place.
Is just a hipotesis, Gun Smoke might actually be now Dead Revolver/ Red dead redemption series, Capcom wants a western game back in 2003, but they cancel it for uknown reasons and no media shows how Rockstar buy the PI from the japanese company.
Red Dead Revolver was created as a spiritual successor to this game. It had a very troubled development, and Capcom ended up canceling it after Rockstar bought the studio that was making it. Rockstar then bought the rights to the game, finished it, and released it, which obviously led to the Red Dead series. It's pretty crazy to think that RD series only happened because Rockstar happened to buy the studio that was making the first game.
Yeah Capcom had some weird covers. Don't know why many NES games had their cover modified for European versions, but they were usually better. Check out MM1 itself or The Guardian Legend.
