Hey! I'm Niko, the guy who uploads music of the 8Bit era (NES/Famicom/GameBoy/GBC/MasterSystem/GameGear/NSF's) into my unique "8BS Mixed" format, or basically makes 8Bit tunes sound clear and crisp, unlike you've ever heard them before! This is Niko's 8BitStereo!

You can download a master NSFe collection of NES/Famicom soundtracks made by me and Anonymotron (be sure to have Winamp and the Notso Fatso plugin or Foobar and Game Emu Player component to play them) below or in the top right section of the hot links section!
Definitely one of the most overlooked NES games & soundtracks of all time. It's a shame because they're both quite good. The latter of which complements the game's innocent exterior very well. "Starfish" sounds very similar to a lot of C64 music. The PAL version of this game is... interesting. Emulating at PAL speed nets you the correct speed, but the pitch is lowered. NTSC speed nets you the opposite effect which is, in my opinion, much better. Imagine this video sped up 17.5%. That's the PAL version at 60hz.
I would be so happy if you did the Japanese famicom version of this. There’s this one old channel I listen to that has it but it would be a real treat to hear you mix it. These new mixes are top quality for these NES games. Amazing work as always Niko
What I like about the vanilla Shinobi for the NES: It's easy enough to beat (provided you do not get knocked around) and the bonus stage are pretty easy. The controls seem to be pretty good, all things considered. I guess the music's fine, too. What I dislike about the vanilla Shinobi for the NES: The lack of mercy invincibility can be a flaw. If you get hit, you'll probably take multiple hits in a row (and maybe die). Also, the graphics are pretty bad (not the worst, but they can be better). Yes, I know it's unlicensed, but come on, even unlicensed/bootleg NES games can do better than that (although they can do worse). Heck, Tengen can do and HAS done better in the NES graphics department. Shinobi Arcade (NES Hack) fixes most of those flaws - for example, the hack (made by the jabu) brings the graphics closer to the Arcade version of Shinobi and it adds the unused music back in.
Also, I seem to be the only one that has posted the full soundtrack of Shinobi Arcade (NES Hack) - as of right now. Here's the playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLFFF5NK7e6GLaQFAY87hvr6F3LoqxITpb
The hack does shuffle some of the tracks around (like what was the Bonus Stage in vanilla Shinobi for the NES is now the first stage theme in Shinobi Arcade (NES Hack)) - but they're all in there.
Best music on the NES. These songs are not just some 30 second loops but are fully fleshed out instrumentals. The composer went way harder than he had to to our benefit!
A touch conflicted. On the one hand, almost every track sounds much richer and glorious than it's American counterpart, but my alltime favorite CV track, Anxiety, I prefer on the NES.
I rented this game once back in 3rd grade. Never really could understand the game so I never got very far. I always liked trying to eat my sword on the player screen, haha. But one thing I never forgot was the duel music! I would start a new game and play up to the point of the fight with the executioner just because I loved fighting duels with Duel 1 music playing. I would let myself die if Duel 2 music came on, but when Duel 1 was the music I would often run, jump and roll around just enjoying the epic battle. Fun times!
Good times, excellent game back in the of day. Oh how many times I "lost my head" those of you who know in game that feeling with a few warlords. Blech, Peng Tong was always a hard fight for me over the last boss.
