I recommend the cheap Walmart wood burners without temperature controls. They’re like $12 and you’ll be able to do dozens of frames before it dies. I think the brand is Walnut Hollow or something like that.

how much material do you think you remove by sanding to prep for stippling. a glock 19 or 17 used to fit my right hand perfect 15 years ago, lately ive been feeling like i cant quite get my hands around as good or tight as i used to, my offhand still feels perfect and tight grip, but my hands have taken a beating over the last 20 years wrenching and feel like i cant hold tight enough onto my 19 as i once did, and have yet to try one of the slim frames yet. curious if sanding enough material down without weakening it and stippling will help me with this new found problem.
@tristarcustoms77
@tristarcustoms77 2 года назад
You really just remove enough material to get rid of the factory texture. If you remove too much and then stipple it you’ll end up melting holes in the frame and it can make it more prone for warping. However I do a grip reduction modification that reshapes that Glock hump on the back strap area and that helps a lot along with removing the finger grooves.

Why sand off the old stippling if it all melts and moves around when you do the new stippling? Seems like a step that could be eliminated, and also could weaken the gun frame
@tristarcustoms77
@tristarcustoms77 5 месяцев назад
It looks like a mess if you don’t sand off the original texture and anywhere else that will be stippled. It don’t doesn’t weaken anything as very little is being sanded away

Depends on what firearm you do it for. Sig sauer, where the fire control unit is removable and the frame is not serialized, does not require an FFL. For glocks, the frame is also serialized, so it technically would require an FFL.

You do great work! I love watching you guys do stippling jobs but all of you guys do the same thing. You move the guns around too fast when you're showing the stippling! The camera just starts to focus in and you move the gun around. You can never get a good look at the stippling because it never focuses in. Put the guns up close to the camera let it focus in and then "SLOWLY" turn in so we can see it!!! 😉
