The key to doing good gap borders is patience! Don’t rush the process. I only use two bits for these borders and that’s all you need if you take your time.
The texture we used on this job is called tacmail and the slide is by Black Phoenix Customs

You make this look so easy. I've been trying this on some AR pistols grips cause it's the cheapest practice piece to buy. It's harder than it looks to get a straight line

Looking into micro motors, what rpm range have you found to work best for you? I was looking at the one you recommended and 50k rpm seems like it’d be overkill. Also, is there a huge difference between brushed and brushless motors for this use? Currently using a dremel flex shaft so Ik both would be an upgrade but Idk if it’s worth it to get the 1040 rather than the 1070

What grit is your diamond dust ball? I tried with mine and I think it may be too course. My borders don't come out as glossy as yours by a long shot.

Does using the Fordom make that big of a difference in control? When I've tried gap borders with my dremel rotary tool, it feels jumpy/difficult to control depth of cut and adds chatter

I’ve done 3 different frames now with my dremel and although I will never be as good as this guy the right tool makes a difference. You can tell the brushless dremel he has really makes it smooth.

I also used the same bits and the ball tip he uses with my dremel does literally nothing to my Glock frames lol. Doesn’t cut at all or even smooth it out that much even at the highest setting.
