Why do the Scots all have to make it about Scotland? Do you feel like the poor relation/short guys lol. Just asking. For example; if it was a cover of an American band's tune by Blur for instance, I wouldn't feel the need to say that 'my countrymen did it proud'
@@tabascocat5102 Seems to bother you more than it does me. Spare me the disingenuousness you English are acknowledged as just about the most jingoistic people on the planet. Could it be that you are just a ‘little Englander?’ 😉
@@rosswilliamson1732 I'd like to know who thinks that. I see less jingoistic behaviour here in England, FROM the English than any others. St Georges day is almost forgotten but, St Patricks? St. Andrew's Day? They're big. I'm just curious
What a great song, I love it! I put it into my "Shellshocked Radio - Recommendations" List: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9vTEJBus0YM.html Very well done!
@@carlosibanezlazaro7459 Entiende la época en la que se hizo este video. La canción es un temazo. Este es uno de los grupos mas infravalorados de la década de los 90. Son buenísimos y los conocen cuatro gatos.
HM Axyl yeah this version is deep and dirty heavy, but still maintains crispyness round the edges, helped by the vocalist not growling or screeching or screaming. So it is very heavy metal instead of grungy imo
There have been cover versions of this song performed by much bigger bands, but Gun's version remains the absolute best! Also, I just realized that I remember watching this very videoclip for the first time on MTV back in the mid-90s. LOL! Man I'm old...
Still one of the best bands that Scotland produced and they had an inspired cover here. Happy days standing outside the "Barrowlands" going to "Gun " gigs..
Best cover song ever. I was with mates in Newquay one year and this was the song of the weekend. Will never forget it. Sounds as awesome today as it ever did.
Going to see Gun in Dundee tomorrow at the Beat Generator. Saw them at the same venue last August. First time that I saw Gun live was in 1987 at Fat Sam's in Dundee. There's been a few personnel changes since then though. I believe it's only the two brothers left from the original line up. Gun are from Calton, Glasgow.
I heard GUN play this cover back in 1992 at Glasgow Barrowland long before it was even released...... Totally blew me away, was such a great gig.... This band are STILL great, cannot wait for their new album in 2024, their new single All Fired Up is awesome and hankers back to the days of Gallus and Swagger.

Just heard this excellent cover in the space capsule heading for ISS. The crew have made a mixtape that's playing in the capsule prior to takeoff and Tim Peake's playlist is made of UK bands so he's to thank for including Gun :)
One of the best covers of ANY track ever, from the Glasgow boys. Bought the 12" single of this in 1994. Loved it then....love it more now. Robin Topping 31st Mat 2014
Forgot how good this vocal was. Love the original too. This is great song. Great vocal. Gun. Totally forgotten them till just now. 2021. Took me by surprise. Great.
This one and Korn's version are the best. And I don't say this because I'm a nu metal fan, but I think that these two versions are the best covers. Gun made it hard rock, and Korn made it nu metal.
Superb. This is how you re-work a classic. Love the ladies as well, Miss Pouting and Gorgeous with the Nose Ring and Miss Fantastic in the hat. Wonderful. Great song and vid.
Years ago, the original Cameo version came on the radio and my girlfriend at the time scoffed at the "awful cover of the Gun song". I knew there and then that we were doomed as a couple.
Reminds me of a comment I read on RU-vid a while back from someone mocking the ‘80s throwback’ covering Placebo. It was on the Kate Bush original of ‘Running up that Hill’.
Tim Peake's space capsule takeoff playlist - says it all fabulous and more and Gun's video has enough swagger alone for liftoff. As good as it gets. Simply the best and a total blast on a cold snowy day. Glad I heard Tim Peake talk about it on Radio 4 the other day. Off you go Tim and Gun a perfect pairing up there in space.
Saw these guys do this live in the 1990's... as an opening band for Bon Jovi. Joan Osborne aka If god was one of us was boo'd off stage she was so bad.... 20,000 of us on the field..p155 wet through... waiting for Jovi... These guys came on... started with this... in minutes, we didnt give a crap that the heavens were still falling on us.. we were... ROCKING!!!!!
35th anniversary of the release of a classic song: "Word Up!" is a funk and R&B song originally recorded by American funk band Cameo and released as a single on 27th May 1986, becoming the band's best known hit. My favourite cover version is this, the 1994 cover by British hard rock band Gun, which peaked at number eight on the UK Singles Chart.
This CD single was like my third music purchase, I was totally mesmerized. I thought it sounded so cool that I could hear every inhale between the words on the vocal track. Sounded dangerous! xD
..cameo's version was pretty red hot but...this track with its hard driving rock is just fxxking brilliant and the guitar solo is beautiful...'smoking' freaking Gun man!
