@@RetroRalph I believe you meant Shar-Kade, not Scarkade @19:16. As e-manngaming1227 mentioned Dean was the first to put the LEDs in a bezel and Gun4IR is plug 'n play with all of his builds. 7/14/22 - ru-vid.com36VMDbZnkq8?feature=share
If you want a cheap pedal, they make USB pedals for court room stenographers that can be had pretty cheap.. though it might not look as cool as the Time Crisis one.
Haha Thanks Ralph! I know you too my guy! Thanks Ray also for the shout out Gun4ir is the best of the best, and Ray does the best mods youll ever see along with the best support! The dudes unbelievable 🤘
Gun4ir is pure drug when you search, found, and mod it yourself. Grab so many arcade guns in one year and a half 😅 i am a junky. Currently making the TS one too, bad ass rifle gun 💪🏻
Love this technology and how far modern light guns have come along. Your living room setup is great on the big TV. I love your Namco arcade gun, which is very nostalgic, I mean, the whole setup is.
Ray is awesome! I've given him plenty of my money as well, and I get happy and giddy while doing it! Lol. His guns are great and amazing customer service.
Thank you for this vid Ralph, I have been wanting a solution like this for years but didn't realise it could be done with mostly off the shelf parts! Being in Australia, we are limited as even importing 'toy' or replica type guns can land you in hot water with customs. I wasn't going to take that risk. Thankfully 90% of the parts I have sourced locally and am in the process of building my own gun. Even looking at getting a dedicated mini PC for my TV. I'm so excited, you got me hooked, haha.
The feel and balance of the original Guncon is a huge selling point to me if I ever wanted to splurge on something like this. Always enjoyed these games, have a nice collection, and it's unfortunate they don't work on modern sets. Luckily we have options.
Thanks man, that means a lot, I appreciate you watching and supporting the videos. I still have 3 hours of work but so glad it's Friday, enjoy the weekend man!
Awesome, love me some lightgun games. I went yesterday for the first time to the national video game museum here in the Netherlands and they have a big arcade with everything on free play. I first played me some Operation Wolf, than T2, House of the dead, time crisis and some more modern ones. Was also a happy surprise with the many moving and deluxe cabinets they had, specially from Sega like Outrun and After burner which brings back so much memories playing them over summer break as a kid as well as more rare games like the Baby Pacman. For people from the Netherlands or visiting the Netherlands I can recommend visiting the place. I wonder if Wicked been there yet?
Great video Ralph, I’ve actually been exploring these over the past 48 hrs. Ordered AE Light guns in September and I still don’t have them. Brutal company. P.S - maybe don’t dance anymore. 😎
Can you do a review on the pacto 4000t control board? How it fixes the annoying need to bind keyboard keys to xinput. Somehow keeps the player order after reboot. And has a ton of extra functions that most arcade cabs need? Also, its new LED screen accessory.
Can vouch for Gun4IR, tried multiple lightgun games in mame with it & the accuracy is basically perfect on par with the arcade (or at least to the point where most people won't notice the difference) its hella expensive but you definitely get your moneys worth if you want a gun with arcade perfect accuracy. A great alternative to the time crisis pedal shown in this video is the sinden pedal which i got for around $250. Again its super pricey but it works perfectly for games that utilize the pedal like time crisis
Love the video. Also, the part with T2 cracked me up hilarious🤣👊🏻…these guns are amazing. Will have to look into it. (So he sells the gun you were using to play the Aliens game?…& the thing you showed at the end that you can buy where they put a couple hundred games or whatever on do you think it’s possible for that game to be one of them…Love the Alien franchise) Thanks Ralph👊🏻✌🏻
LOL, you have some awesome Gun4IR versions now. Love that machine gun model 😎, I want one with Reciol. How did he made this because I can't order them ? Did you had the original Namco gun ?
Hi Ralph and thank you for your review, valuable and nice as always. I respect you very much. I would like to ask you, after having seen this video and being very doubtful about what to buy between a Sindend and a Gun4IR, to use on a rather powerful Micropc to be used mainly for Retrogaming. I don't really like the idea of also having to apply sensors and additional power supply, but I would prefer the opinion of those who have tried Sinden and Gun4IR well. I thank you :)
My only concern with these is about the long-term supply of the vintage Japanese GunCon. I hope J-B Bongrad has a plan for keeping the GunCon design (ideally with Namco branding) when the originals run out. Perhaps he's thought of designing his own lightgun like Sinden and Retro Shooter? A brand new Gun4IR lightgun based on an HK45, an M&P9 2.0 Competitor, a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow or a Girsan MC P35 Ops (maybe with a control box based on a Modlite PL350) would look pretty nice.
I really want that CRT quick response light gun shooter experience again. Where you don't have to worry about making a fast twitch movement and you never have to use a crosshair guide. We hover a mouse instead of shooting with these modern infrared guns.
true, although good news is that these are even more accurate and responsive then the OG lightguns believe it or not. Especially Gun4ir over SInden. Also there are many arcade shooters that do shot croosshairs. Terminator for example, but also Gun blade in 1997
Ralph I’ve been using the retro shooter guns on my pc with a bunch of emulators and the accuracy has been really good. You should try them out on the pc if you haven’t already also.
bought the retroshooter as well. one of my guns has a delay in recoil and still working w them to get a replacement. Overall though I'm happy with it and can't beat the price.
@@RetroRalph Can you try the Retro Shooter guns on that mini PC that you showed in the video. Are they plug and play into that as well. I would assume since they are so easy to set up. Let us know plz!
You might be excited to here that time crisis 2 is now playable on mame, you have to fiddle with the settings to make it run well and it's only single player as of right now, but you can play the game from top to bottom with all it's alternate paths and everything
@@raymonddai No, as far as the one beginning level crashing. You can play through the entire game top to bottom with a few minor graphical issues. Although, you will have to edit some settings for the game in order to get it to run well, I think overclocking the cpu or frame skipping.
@@MrThunderwing The Extermination Pulse Rifle seems to be more expensive from what I’ve seen since the other one is just a toy gun. Also funny you mentioned the Nerf one cause I wanted that for my birthday this year.
@@ChrosGorilla I just got one fairly recently. I've watched a few videos of people painting it up to look like the real deal and I'm trying to decide whether to do the same...
Ok I’m definitely sold on this. I’ve been getting bored of my Sinden based light gun cabinet. I wanted to have Retro Lizard’s set up but didn’t want to mess with manually activating the white border. These seem to solve that.
@@raymonddai I'm saving some cash for another arcade pick up but I will be contacting you to get some of these soon! Sinden has been fine when I use the MAME border pack, but I want to expand and I'm not interested in messing with the borders every time I change games. I also love the idea of the solenoid being "smart" and offering a machine gun style recoil!
If you’re buying from RPEG, yes. However, you can scratch build this product with a software license and the required components. That way it can be much cheaper than Sinden depending on what parts you use.
As someone who has one it is def worth it if your willing to lay down the cash (which is shit ton btw) if you take full advantage of it’s capabilities (arcade accurate recoil w/mamehooker *only works with mame games that originally had controlled recoil in the arcade but I can confirm it works perfect w/time crisis & point blank 2* as well as lossless recoil strength (doesn’t lose power like sinden). Can only recommend this to someone who *REALLY* loves arcade lightgun games atm since it’s much more of a hobbyist product than a plug-in-play retail product. The Time crisis sliding recoil mod costs $900 at most at RPEGelectronics so it’s definitely something you’ll have to save up for if your seriously considering it. I have been able to 1CC Point blank 2 on advanced so I can definitely tell you the time crisis modded gun at least is legit. (You’ll also need to buy your own power adapter since it’s a 24V solenoid which costs about $20 on Amazon)
I wrote to RPEG electronics and asked if I could buy two light guns and such a mini pc (like the one they sent to you). But they refused. They replied "Two guncons and a led sensor with US power supplies is $900 total but we don’t sell the software setup as it’s quite complex." That's a showstopper for me as I will never get the setup right/not as good as they can do it. Well, I guess I will keep my money then.
I would love to do this but $800 for 2 guns is a tad too high. 2 Sinden with recoil are only $300. $500 better? I just don't see it being that much better. I would love for you to do a true comparison video talking about the pros and cons of both tracking systems.
I really miss lightning games as I'm sure a lot of gamers do and I truly believe if companies where to take an interest in making them again there is a lot of money to be made still in both arcades & consoles. But until that day happens do this gun4ir work on a modern screen would this gun work with any gun game file i download to a pc 🔫 nice video nicely done good job 👍
How is playing with this gun on a big 55" or larger TV vs the 32" screen on the Xtension cabinet? Not sure which direction I should go. I have a 65" 4K and think that may be the way to go. Curious your thoughts?
Ralph I have a ryzen7 mini 5800u. I have spent several hours trying to fix the TP games and it’s overwhelmingly hard. Is there anyway I can get a clone of that build for my mini? I have tp working perfect on my nvidia rig but the mini pc is insane hard.
Amazing Video. I am sold on this entire setup. As a non techie is there a super easy way to do this? Example once the gun is purchased from RPEG, then what is necessary? Also is that time crisis gun from RPEG compatible with the recoil/kickback on all other lightgun games? I apologize if this has been covered already, but Is there somewhere I can go to to buy the gun/time crisis game/pedal and have it be plug and play? Thank you in advance! Someone is getting my money! LOL
Thanks, my suggestion would be to contact Ray at RPEG. I put all his contact info in the description of the video. He will be able to guide you down the right path. 👍🏻. Thanks so much for watching!
Holy crap, the terminator scene was so hilarious i was crying from laughter. You're the best. Omg ,take my money now!!! My wife better not find out how much this guns cost. I do have sinden light guns and are super pain to setup. Cant thank you enough for the recommendation on a prior video you made for the build. That works awesome!!! Thanks again for sharing.
What Aimtrack, Sinden and this Gun4IR all have in common, is that they sadly still have a very noticeable delay when moving the gun fast. This is the last bit that need to be cracked, before I would consider buying one.
if I had the budget for it I'd definitely invest in at least the Guncon/pedal stuff. but that whole-ass rifle... dude if they gave you a way to play GHOST Squad (probably my favorite sega gun game ever I sank hundreds of hours into the Wii home port unlocking stuff) that would be amazing to play with the rifle controller!
its 100% emulated already, and even with mamehooker support, you can play and have the recoil to the pulse of the game , even when u switch weapons. Operation GHOST works, not Evolution though
That Namco 24 volt solonoid recoil is really where its at, could care less about the aliens Armageddon gun, but that Namco recoil, wow!!! Lol, ended up buying two Alien Armageddon guns
I built gun4ir into a ps3 rifle with rumble back when it first arrived and I'm currently converting a ps1 realarcade/jolt gun which I've already modded to have a more powerful solenoid. Only thing I'm missing is a better pedal. The jolt gun one is lame (but better than nothing)
I would love a setup like this. But being in the UK with import costs and all the extras really doesn't help. Also Sinden being a UK company is kind of a deal breaker. Not just for the cost, but also for supporting UK developers and manufactures. I can completely control the lighting in my arcade environment to minimise any glare etc. But the Gun4IR definitely has the best no fuss and accurate setup by far.
I take it back, I might actually get 2 aliens Armageddon machine guns. Now to figure how to fit 4 ir on an arcade when a glass panel. Probably will need to print holster for them...
@@raymonddai it's a good idea, but I have a thin graphic bezel covering the tv bezel. Also it's a 50 inch screen, could barely get the screen to fit in the cab 😂
I would check back often, he restocks almost weekend. Or just contact him via his cell phone, I put the information in the video description. Ray can give you the up to date info on his products.
@@spongeknock7387 in general most guns will not work at that size because the cameras view lens is not as wide as our eyes so it’ll work but may lose accuracy when ur pointing to the middle since it can’t see all the LEDs . Like the movie theater example. If you’re too close to a big screen u can’t see the whole screen
