I don't know the name or how to describe it all that well. I'm pretty sure it would have been running on the Dreamcast arcade system. It had that graphical look. I believe you were shooting at robots. There were 2 mounted uzi controllers with a lot of recoil. I think they had a button on them for a bomb. Would have been around 2000 I played it at our little arcade place.

I can beat both time crisis and time crisis 2 on a single credit! Those has always been my go to lightgun games. Time crisis 1 I can beat on a single credit about 30 percent of the time. Time Crisis 2 I can do it nearly every time.

Virtua Cop 2 Let us know when they change the options menu. I'd change the setup depending on the game and when I buy this I won't get up, get behind my TV and cram a screwdriver in the bottom to just change settings.

I think I might have to go with SEGA's GHOST Squad! loved the wii version to death there's just so much replayability with unlocking new paths through the levels, weapons and outfits!

I wish Namco and Sega would get together to get a light gun standard going. They could put a pretty healthy compilation together between the two of them to get things started. I still use the Wii and PS3 for light gun games.

Time Crisis 4 and TC Razing Storm on the PS3 were great! And I loved playing Resident Evil 5 (Gold Edition) with the motion controller

At that price I'd pretty much expect perfection honestly. But I guess if there's no competitor that's already pretty cool that this exists. It's deifinitely another experience than holding a VR controller or a Joycon.

If it was 4 digits maybe, but for around $250 this is a helluva package imo, you even get 2 pedals plus a console with games and all of that. For anyone who has a basic interest in light gun games this is a really nice all in one package. However for those who want perfection, you have to be prepared to drop about $1000 or so for a full 2 player Sindel setup with the same amount of accessories (Sindel charges about $500 just for 2 pedals, nothing else just pedals!) Hopefully that illustrates how much more cost effective this package is. And at roughly 95% accuracy and the ability to hook it up to your pc and other devices via the hub, its quite nice imo. Sure Sindel is nicer, but I dont feel like spending 4x the amount just to play some Area 51 with my son lol

@@KrazzeeKane Well maybe similar products are more expensive but it's still pricey imo, considering it's just porting pretty old technology. The least you could expect is still that it works without the tiniest flaw, at least regarding gameplay.

Jason, Operation Wolf for me was so iconic growing up in New York. The armored vehicles in the beginning to me were tough trying to blow them up. Then you forget the enemies that pop up close on screen…. Can only imagine how much money I spent on that game.

I was never a huge fan of light gun games, but that said, Operation Wolf wowed me in arcades with those huge sprites. Playing on the Atari ST shortly afterwards was slightly less fun with a mouse, but still a great memory.

The performance kinda reminds me of how light gun games were approximated with a few Wii titles, where it feels like you're moving a crosshair around a screen rather than truly aiming with your gun. It works, it's playable, and it's fun, but it doesn't *quite* come to a 1:1 replication of a true light gun experience.

yup. and even within the wii light gun catalogue there's different levels of responsiveness, even playing on a crt. link's crosshair training is one of the worst surprisingly, while ghost squad or house of the dead collection feel a lot more snappy

Great video as always. My all time favorite light gun arcade game is Area 51. The 100s or more of hours I spent playing that at the laundry mat down the street from my school on lunch brake and after school were amazing. This setup looks fun. I'll have to check and see if there is an option without the pandora box. I'm sure there are many other light gun options out there. Thanks again for the reminder of these great games.

I bought this, and I really like it. It’s even more fun than I thought. I love retro games, have several retro computers and consoles and light guns complete it. The light guns themselves feel good, and perhaps the accuracy could be better, but it's good enough in my opinion. But I have nothing to compare it to, I don't know if there are better products (at this price) available. But I don’t regret buying this and would recommend it to anyone.

Operation Wolf was one of my favourite games for the commodore 64, and it would be fun to play it through with a lightgun instead of the less convenient joystick. Have a happy 2024, Jason and Paul! Keep on grinding

The original cabinets for Operation Wolf and recenty T2: The Arcade Game were never real light gun games. The guns are mounted to the cabinet and use a joystick type control method to know where you're pointing.

Lag is impossible to remove completely. It's more of a case of minimising it to an acceptable level. You find playing games from USB (or internal drive) rather than a CD helps. I use a Wii U to play all the Wii shooters. A great way of seeing how bad the lag is - is by connecting a little light to the front of the gun and when you shine it at the screen - you will see how effectively the targeting pointer can keep up with the beam of light.

Yeah have to agree Time Crisis II is the best. I like it so much I have 10 arcade boards and reverse-engineered it and made a full schematic all on one sheet which is actually about 2 metres square. That took about 10 weeks to do hehe!

Was thinking along the same lines at first, why get this machine when there is the Wii? But then there are many out there who have no idea that you can mod a Wii, or how, or that you can even play Wii successfully today on a big screen with hdmi connection. This retro machine is clearly for the same market where the NES classic mini and similar products are popular.

Best lightgun game for me will always be House of the Dead 2 on Dreamcast. I've beaten it so many times at home and I STILL couldn't pass it in the arcade, spending money with a buddy playing through the whole thing XD We even had a small audience (two or three people peering through the curtains on the side of the cabinet). What a blast this game was. For years now I've been flirting with the idea of getting a CRT (knowing full well I don't have room for it) just so I can play HotD2 again XD

I agree with your review of this setup. It is still fun. I am going to try these out on my PC where I use Sinden guns to see if I get better results, I just haven't had enough free time to do that. House of the Dead 2 is my all time favorite, but I love all Namco and Sega light gun games the most.

I remember dragging the the cursor on a wii with lighthun games, they worked better without the gun attachment, just sitting in the sofa and dragging the wiimote was a better feeling. 👌

I loved Time Crisis 2. Got to be honest, remember when you got a light gun game and all you had to do was plug in the guns and put the disc in. I miss those days.

I have this and enjoy it very much. Although, I did play one game that had targets in the top left corner of the screen right below the sensor and that was tricky to hit. Most games don't suffer from this issue. I think this console is a great time; reminded me of being in the arcade. If you have the extra cash I'd totally recommend it.

Lethal Enforcers. Gotta go with the super classic. Not to mention Crime Patrol, Mad Dog McCree, and Whoshot Johnny Rock? In the arcade though has to be Silent Scope, Area 51, Alien 3 the gun, Aliens Extermination, The Lost World Jurassic Park, or Aliens Armageddon if you aren't talking classics though it is now 10 years old. I can say for a fact that the Sinden lightgun is not only better but way more reasonably priced and the support for it grows as they continue to develop on it. No one should buy these - get a Sinden.

But price for sinden for 2 controllers and 2 pedals with recoil is like £500+ Then you need a whole set up of console etc Where as this is an all in one package you can set up and put away each time. Seems worth it in that sense

Why do some people say that Gun4IR is superior to Sinden? Aren't these IR guns? I have them but didn't test them yet. I'm making a gun mod with Arcade1up parts. I have the Sindens as well but didn't use them yet. I have a Retro Lizard pc to use them with as well for an Arcade1up mod. I also have Wiimote red and blue guns and Arcade Guns with a super IR bar but I think they don't have recoil. I also have the Arcade1up T2. Are the Retro Shooter guns better if you get the updated ones or get the extra IR sensors for your existing guns?

Saw another review from Kongs-R-Us where he was dimming the ambient light and getting wayyy more accuracy, also you should have talked about the fact that you can switch from 16:9 to the original 4:3 in the game options without any additional config or reboot :)

The lights in the room are dimmer than you realize. The new iPhone I filmed the video with and Final Cut make it look brighter than it was. As for 4:3 I should have mentioned it, but we preferred widescreen because we were so far back.

I got a PlayStation just because of Time Crisis and a PlayStation 2 just because of Time Crisis 2. I loved light gun games and that's why I got a Sinden last year. My absolute favorite series are Time Crisis and Virtua Cop. I played Virtua Cop 3 for the first time last year, thanks to Sinden. The Dreamcast is still my favorite console to this day, not least because of the Confidential Mission. The light gun games for SNES are really upgraded with the new light guns, as the scope was just totally unwieldy. And the arcade light gun games, which were new to me, brought the genre extremely close to me again. Ranger Mission, Beast Busters, Maze and Steel Gunner were great new titles for me.

The guns connect to a PC and act like a mouse and keyboard so no drivers needed. Just calibrate the guns and set the buttons. People are using Teknoparrot, launchbox, big box and soon Batocera. @@GeordiLaForgery

I realize that work has gone into this product, but that price tag is steep. Especially for something which looks like it belongs in a 1990's mall kiosk for $29.99.

As an owner the build quality is pretty good, the guns are solid and have some weight to them. The foot pedals are also well made.. You are also getting the console in the price. The best quality guns are meant to be the Sinden guns but you are looking at over £600 for 2x guns with recoil and 2x foot pedals, and that’s not including a console. Also what puts me off the Sinden guns is the white border it puts around the screen to work. I’d say £250 for the RetroShooter setup is fair. I changed to the 4 sensor setup and it does improve accuracy. You get the occasional hiccup but then who hits every target 😅 RetroShooter also update the console with more games, fixes and improvements.

Not really. These are well-made. Those were junk and would burst after some use. And those would have, probably, a bunch of bootleg games as well. Or they’d repeat games to fill the amount of said games meant to be included. This is like an actual product and not a scam.

Honestly, modern lightguns are a premium now. You would really want to get into it now just to play it. Unless you have a CRT and buy an old one, I'd just steer clear of modern ones. And even the older technology is still pricey nowadays. Personally, I'd like to get a sinden lightgun someday. It's insane pricing is stopping me from buying it now

There are a lot of guys putting these guns into their arcade cabs. Actually Buy Stuff Arcades makes a drop in monitor and complete kit for the 1Up arcades. It's pretty sweet.

There are a few videos here on RU-vid where people have upgraded their T2 Arcade1Up cabinets by replacing the guns and SBC with this system.

Question. For the 4 IR sensors do you need 4 usb ports on your tv, or does it just require 1 usb port as the sensors can daisy chain through each other? My expensive TV has 2 usb ports lol, so i would need an usb hub if so. Just wanting to clarify

One usb port for them all. They are connected and daisy chained together.

Would these guns be considered gun4ir type or what type would they be And if I did this I was considering putting this in a empty pandora box controller enclosure and wiring everything up with the proper connectors but its not your typical box does it still have all the connections as the others do if so this would be great in a pedestal setup with arcade controls and the light guns on each side!

Light gun games are a lot of fun! As a curiosity, why didn’t you use the lenses that came with the guns? With the lenses, you wouldn’t need to be that far from the tv to play.

Nice viewing with the Pandora Box light gun games. I love light gun games for the PS1, PS2, Xbox, and others console. Hi, Metal Jesus, What is the biggest TV CRT Square TV in America? not the widescreen, just a square one? in the UK the biggest I can find is 26 inch.

IIUC this is for Retro Shooter's own Pandora console? Because I really wish I could hook it up to any of my consoles and play it on my 4k TV but I'd bet that the accuracy and latency would probably drive me nuts too! Would love to play some House of the Dead, Area 51 and Time Crisis but even the Sinden Light Gun has it's issues and I'm not sure it can be played on a regular LED/OLED TV. You'd think they would have figured it out by now... or am I missing something?

I find it very expensive, except if you want something "out of the box/ready to use". If you already have a Raspberry Pie with Recalbox on it, you can buy the Dolphin bar and use 2 wiimote. Still didnt test yet... Cool video.

I haven played many light gun games, but I had a lot of fun with the wii versions. Even the modded versions with old nes and computer games worked well enough last time I tried. I hope vr brings once light gun ganes to their consoles.

I can't find it in your vast library of videos, is there a video where you hook it up to the PC and performance? If yes, does it play Time Crisis properly? What specs is your PC? Are top sensors in new package still this bulky?

Oh man last time I played a light gun game for real must have been like 10+ years or more at this movie rental store called Hemmakväll basically translated to Evening at Home, they used to have an area in their store dedicated to arcade machines and I played one of The House of the Dead games, they sadly removed the arcade area after only a few years, then after a few more years they stopped their rental service as well and today they're only a candy store.

@MetalJesusRocks During the video at around 9:30ish mark, you mentioned being able to get rid a lot of the latency using a really powerful computer. What are your specs for your stand up MAME computer so we have a baseline on performance. OR a video using these Retro Shooters on your MAME machine would also be awesome…..
