From what I've seen from the Japanese fandom is that G-Saviour is rather fondly remembered. And if you read more about the whole behind the scenes thing it definitely comes off less as that it's neglected out of spite and more of just little to no interest in it. I imagine it just has to do with the fact of how much reign they gave Kouichi Inoue, in how it's more or less his baby so they don't really wanna touch it without him.

That's interesting to hear, but does Inoue really need to be around for them to put the damn thing on Blu-Ray like every other Gundam at the moment, or even just to throw the G3 in a Gundam Vs. game or the like? Like, Tomino certainly isn't involved in any of those. I actually wanted to look even more into the behind the scenes stuff, but the impression I've gotten so far is that it's all mostly in Japanese and I'm just a filthy English-speaking gaijin. Everything I've said in this video is basically just the stuff I could (mostly) confirm, cuz I've seen enough bullshit on /m/ to know that I shouldn't be conflating random rumours I see on the internet.

Considering how unhinged Gaia Gear is, I’m not sure that’s such a bad thing… For reference, Gaia Gear is basically semi-official fan fiction made by the franchise creator that legally can’t directly mention the original Gundam material hence the name changes. It’d be like if Lucas created his own sequel trilogy and self-funded and produced it without Disney.

G-Saviour is pretty cool. You should check out the promotional trailer, which actually presents a slightly different take on the concept in a short video, and features mobile suit action not seen in the movie. There is also the (short) manga for the game, of which a handful of pages have surfaced online in recent years.
