Thanks for all the videos! We just adopted a 6.5yrs old GSP who was dumped by her hunter owner due to her not being good for hunting anymore. She is super smart and sweet and obsessed with balls (or anything that is being thrown lol). Regardless of her hunting background, she is kind of all over the place, not knowing/or wanting to do commands etc. and we would like to re-introduce some structure in her life and of course this is what she was bred for so I believe she needs it as well. Any quick tips on how to approach her training with her existing hunting background and age?

Hello Laura, Thank you for messaging!! I would suggest first let her settle it can take rescues a long time to settle in new home especially those who may never of lived inside. Once settled then start to work with her slowly build her start with your foundations and keep sessions short sharp and sweet less is more. Always finish on a win HPRs don’t do being hammered anyway they switch off quiet Easily. The biggest thing is building her trust relationship and by gently introducing the training and keeping session short and finish on wins this will help. Don’t push her into things she not comfortable go at her pace. I worked in rescue years ago and you have give them time to adjust and settle in new environment and learning. Structure is perfect for any dog. Hope this helps 😍

Also don’t forget there 6.5yrs of learned behaviour that some of it you will have to undo so taking time and being patient will be important
