This channel is to help those who have Gundogs wether they want to work in the shooting field or pet owners with Gundogs who want to understand what they have and to also give them a outlet even if they don’t want to work them. Georgia has a huge passion for Gundogs and hopes you enjoy the channel.
Hello Pim, Reasons are when I stand still I want the dog to auto sit with me there are sometimes I want to walk off without verbally telling the dog alway “sit” if I’m in a competition I don’t want to be talking to my dog especially if the judge is showing me something I need to be able to walk away from my dog if I always cue verbally the dog judge will think my dog is unsteady. And yes Sit stay means don’t move until I tell you and they know when I walk off with that leg not to move it’s just a visual cue.
Hello Pim, I don’t use this for hunting but I do use it for cast off games cast the dog of which I want them to go. Also sitting front of me building value in this. The placeboard supports a lot of foundation training and has place of value so it helps the less experienced dogs, when setting up new exercises for them ☺️
I've just discovered your stuff. Question: got my 3 year old Springer at 8 months old, no intention of hunting him but yes I've tried to instil obedience from day one...sit, stay, come etc however he pulls like a train on going out... is it too late to remedy that and other things like not always coming straight back when running loose? thanks in advance. Robert ( I live in a Spanish city but take him out to the country once a week).
Hello 👋 Yes it is it’s all about consistency and setting him up for success and in the right environment for his learning, especially when undoing behaviours he has history doing you have to unpick and re build him ☺️
Yay sounds good really excited. I like to see stop whistle using distances and retrieving pattern. It will be good to ask you questions in the community too. Happy Easter 🐣
Love the videos, currently doing training with my 8 month old cocker finding it harder just now to try get her nose off the ground any tips would be appreciated, keep up the great content
The community is a great idea that's what our first trainer did and always good to share ideas and see how each other trains hence this channel so welcome back
Hello Georgie I would be definitely up for your gundog community. I love your approach to training and has inspired me to completely niche to training Gundogs. The Gundog world can be so confusing with all the different views. Your approach is easy to follow so please do your Gundog community you can count me in’ 😀
Hi, thanks for these videos they are great! Do you have any advice on training this breed to settle indoors, out and in other peoples houses. My dog is great outdoors but really struggles with the settling part
hi, you mentioned a release cue, do you have a video how you train this, my dog loves tug and is a massive motivator so want to develop a solid release cue.
Hi I have come across your videos and have done a bit of a binge watch 🙂 They are really informative and am enjoying the content you have done so thanks for that. Are there any books that you would recommend or do you think I can do it just from you tube alone? Also where is your vest with the big pockets from and what do you use as treats as my cockapoo won't take her kibble as a treat and treats are so expensive when you have to give alot for training? Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance 🙂
Hi I’ve just come across your Chanel as I am trying to teach stop. I have binged watched a few this morning 😊 What do you use for treats? My Cockapoo won’t have her kibble as a treat it isn’t high value enough and regular treats are getting expensive I use only the smallest piece (I cut them small )😂 that I can get away with any tips would be great thank you 😊
Nope all mine have had chews in puppy period and not one has ever ate a bird. They know when they are hunting to flush birds, and they don’t peg them, they also know when I do need them to retrieve them they can tell the difference between a shot bird and non shot bird.
Very sorry to hear about Barry. I too, lost my year-old Springer Wally, to a tragic accident. He was already hunting incredibly well. I hope you feel better in time. We do get attached to them.
I am so grateful for all your advice on this channel, Georgie. We live in Hong Kong with a now 10week old lab boy and whilst it’s unlikely he’ll be a gun dog, your methods are REALLY effective and useful for daily interactions and foundational obedience. Thank you!
Hello 👋 Jane all the way to Hong Kong !! Really pleased your enjoying them and helping with your pup even across the other side of world just brilliant 😊🙌🙌
So enjoying your videos. I have leaned so much and ready to try and improve what my 9 month old has leaned. You have shown such brilliant ideas to enhance her training. So pleased I found you. Thank you 😊 x
Your videos have been a game changer! So glad I stumbled across them. Since I adopted my Cavapoo at 9 months I noticed she had a lot of behaviors and drive of a working dog. But I didn't know what to do with that. (No one where I live does Gun dog training. I just learned about it a few months ago on RU-vid.) So past 1.5 years of having her I've been teaching the basic commands, few tricks, but she was getting bored with that and frankly so was I. I knew she wasn't getting enough stimulation but I didn't know how to fix it. Enter your videos. We are both having fun learning this new training together. Just doing Autosit has really helped her to listen/behave so much better.
