This is a review and unboxing for the debut Guns N’Roses album Appetite For Destruction 2 disc deluxe edition and 5 disc boxset edition. Please remember to comment, like, and subscribe.
great review Brendon, since joining your channel i managed to get all the deluxe Def Leppard editions you reviewed. i am now hunting down the Guns and Roses box set now lol great review my friend.
Appetite for Destruction is One of my all time favorite albums I’ve been listening to GNR since I was a kid and slash inspired me to pick up an axe and start playing
Appetite was the first cassette I bought. It was a great way to start and kicked off my love of music. I played that album so much I wore the song names off the classes at and was left only with the sides G and R to know what I was playing…haha!
@@BrendonSnyder I’m now surprised I hesitated given the music content. The 5.1 mix for is worth the price tag. I love that medium. Talk soon! Have a great day blasting all your awesome tunes.
Hi Brendon, Wow, quite the box set. It is going at really outrageous prices. Hope you scored a deal. Love the memorabilia. I am a sucker for that stuff. Are these recent acquisitions. I have to say that as for me my orders are all late. I am at a crossroads.. cannot cancel.. am in limbo.... will be too late to return them... by the time they show up. I hope that I get something this week. Depressing. Thankfully there are your videos and the CD's I do have. God bless and keep safe, Tino
Hi Tino, I hope you’re well. Sorry to hear your orders are in limbo. I’ve got a few like that but found NEH Records ships in a day or two and arrives 3 days later. Also FNA Records is fairly quick, about two weeks maybe. All of my purchases are generally from release day. I have found if I don’t jump on it right as it comes out the price goes up and they don’t stay in print. So these reviews of like this GNR are for me several years old. I try and coordinate my postings so they’re related. Since I did get the Wildside which is new, I wanted to post some other glam and hair metal and started with some of the bigger artists from that period. Stay well!
This was a case of patience was definitely a virtue for me. When these sets were first announced, I would've loved to have the super deluxe version except for the price. Close to $200 was just too steep when all I wanted was the music. I settled for the 2 disc edition. Gnrmerch now has the Super Deluxe down to $49 and the Locked N' Loaded down to $399. I ordered the Super Deluxe.
Wow that’s really cool! I never could have waited. I’d have been too afraid they would sell out. I’m glad you got one eventually and at such a great deal!!
@@BrendonSnyder Even better, I managed to score the hidden cassette that's only available in the Locked N' Loaded set off of Ebay. That has 5 additional demos from the 1985 Mystic Studio Sessions. You're right, though. I am surprised that at least the Super Deluxe hadn't sold out or went up in price.
@@BrendonSnyder I haven't got the cassette yet (supposed to arrive this Friday), so I can't confirm yet. However, if it sounds like what I've found online then it's in much better quality than what has been available on boots. I don't think it's been remastered, though. Tracks include: 1. Welcome To The Jungle (slower tempo) 2. Anything Goes 3. Don't Cry (as I understand, this is the same demo version released on the Don't Cry single but the mix is different) 4. Back Off Bitch (I love this version. A little peppier, I think. The other version sounds too much like the UYI version to me) 5. Think About You (like this better than the album version. Not sure, but I think you hear more of Izzy so it has a bit of Stonsier riffing going on)
I removed my comment about Manny not being mentioned. and agree that he did not have a role that changed the album. Rather the songs I listened to that he produced are ok but not top top sounding. I rather thonk that Manny together with Nazareth was a big influence. Espescially Loud and Proud and Hair of the Dog albums.... Cheers! R. I. P Manny
I tried justifying buying the 4cd 1 Blu Ray set but the “lore “ if you will that is included, is a bit over the top. Brendan how do you feel with the lore. Do you dig it? If they had done away with the “case file “ section I’d be all over it. The photo book is awesome though! I’m a little torn. Lol.
For me the only thing that matters is the demos and outtakes. I appreciate all the rest but for me it comes down to unreleased music. Boxsets that get issues with memorabilia only with not real bonus musical content I stay away from.
@@BrendonSnyder fair enough my friend and thank you for the nice response. I’ve got one more question though. In the case file memorabilia are those peel off tattoos are stickers? Just curious.
@@BrendonSnyder I see. I kinda thought so. I guess I could find use for those by doing a funny, yet nasty prank on my wife by applying all the tattoos at once on my chest and arms. I’d just be setting there on the couch shirtless and when she walks in to see me I’d say “ Hey babe. Had a wild night yesterday. Don’t remember much about it, but I got some work done. Whadda you think?!” Lol!! Now I’m thinking maybe that BOXSET is for me after all. 🤪
I don’t see it as milking it. It’s not like they have release multiple live albums or collections. None of the albums have been reissued until Appetite which they waited 30 years to do. It’s just the band hasn’t been very prolific. That being said they have released 4 studio albums and an e.p.
