Guns N Roses was considered the most dangerous band in the world back in the day

This song is about the press and media making up bogus stories and taking shots at the band. And as it says in the end, it is dedicated to all the GN'R fans that stuck with them through all they have been through. This is a rare song that calls out the specific music critics and their publications, as Axl mentions Andy Secher at Hit Parader, Mick Wall at Kerrang! and Bob Guccione Jr. at Spin. According to an article in The Washington Post, Guccione wrote a letter to Rose, stating he accepted the challenge (to "get in the ring") but no fight ever occurred.

Hit parader, Kerrang, circus magazine etc were rock n roll magazines from the 70's to early 2000's or so. Being a teen when Guns came out, it was an amazing fucken time, 1987-92 was the best block in music history !!!

Great reaction! I'm happy that you chose that song, although it's not that famous. I remember listening to it when the album came out and I was still a teenager. We were all a little scandalized and a lot of impressed by this song. And we loved "our" band for it.

Back in the 80s and 90s GnRs were considerd and dangerous band and even tho they had a massive fan base certain magazines were doing interviews with the band and then changing some of the statments to make the band sound and seem evil and dangerous. So the band fought back .

This type of music is what GnR is actually known for. They have really good, creative lyricism and a vicious delivery. This isn't their best song like this. Their jump off Appetite for Destruction delivers on the name, but if you only heard Sweet Child of Mine and Paradise City, you'd never know. They've always been pissed off at someone lol. Hit Parader and Circus Magazine: They printed fabricated interviews with GNR or compiled paraphrased quotes from other sources and presented them as if it were exclusives. Mick Wall at Kerrang: Not clear what the problem with him was. Maybe an interview with Axl where Axl's words were twisted. Bob Guccione Jr. at Spin: The accusation was that they printed lies about the band.

You got it right away...GnR was still a real rock n roll band back then, and that didn't sit well with the press at the time as they did all they could to kill heavy rock and were in love with grunge. Before the internet, magazines were all we had to learn shit about the bands we loved. Circus, Hit Parader, Metal Maniacs, Kerrang, that was all we had and Axl let us know they were printing bullshit. My first introduction to media bias...Axl could be a real ass, but he was pretty blatantly honest and I think that's why we still love him.

This is unique.. you didn’t expect this kind of profanity on a rock CD back then, plus nobody else even close to their stature ever fired shots like these on their albums. The closest my avatar came up with was “Cherub Rock” which was in modern terms a subtweet against “hipsters” in general.

LMAO, when your eyes bugged out near the end, that was a fun night. St. Louis, July 2cd 91, they were the first thing to ever perform at Riverport. Axl asked the security to stop this guy (Billy) from taking pictures, yet Billy was a Saddle Tramp (Motorcycle gang along the lines of the Hells Angels) and so were the security, so when they would not stop Billy, Axl said fuck it, security wont stop him, I will, and jumped into the crowd, broke Billy's camera and jaw, and then walked out on the crowd, show was over, then the fans tore that place down, 14K people riot. They have a ton of songs, that are not majestic or nice.

Dude I just came across your videos and I have enjoyed the shit out of watching you react to a lot of my favorite songs. When I saw you were doing Guns I had to watch for sure because they are one of my top 5 ..... No scratch that they are my top all time favorite band. When it comes to vocals in my opinion there is no one that can hold a candle to Axl for range and harmony. When Guns N' Roses came out they instantly became the biggest band on earth. I don't know all of the story but a lot of the magazines back in the day wrote all kinds of shit about them and it pissed Axl off and he was not afraid to put it out there and call them out on their shit. They didn't call them the most dangerous band in the world for nothing! For examples of his range listen to all of Appetite for Destruction and the Use your Illusion albums. Just to give a few examples: Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City, You Could be Mine, Don't Cry, Dead Horse, I could name a ton of them there was not a bad tune on ant of the first three albums for sure!! Dude people always react to November Rain, Patience, Paradise City, Sweet Child, etc Thats not what Guns N Roses were JUST about. They were considered the bad boys of the music industry in the late 80s and early 90s. They held the title of “Most Dangerous Band in the World.” They were reckless, wild and didn’t give a FUCK! Why I loved them so much. They lived that R&R life style. They were only a band for a short time. Their first studio album came out in 1987. Their last studio album 1991. 1993 album was just a cover album of punk songs. Anyways, they were the biggest band of the 80s and one of the most popular and best bands of alltime. You want to get a sense of who Guns N Roses were then listen to these songs: You Could Be Mine, It’s So Easy, Nightrain, The Garden and Rocket Queen. Axl fucked his drummers girlfriend in the studio and out her moaning ON the actual song “Rocket Queen.” They didn’t give a damn man. Also Axl would wear NWA hats a lot of times to try and get NWA attention before they got big Bc he was a Fan. Many times NWA would be in GNR’s dressing room while GNR performed. Axl tried to get a GUNS N ROSES/NWA concert together but they couldn’t get it done Bc both bands were considered to dangerous. He actually wore an NWA hat in their LIVE & LET DIE video. (Stephanie Seymore?) and she passed away basically right after.. the things they wrote then, deserved every bit of this song..... just to nudge you in the direction of the right mindset.. they said things like "he does drugs, I wonder if".... "He gets drunk and fights with his own bandmates, maybe he...." That was a great diss at Bob Guccione Jr (who founded SPIN magazine)... Bob Guccione Sr. founded Penthouse magazine.

The part where Slash appears in shorts was because he was so fckd up that he couldn't even play so he took all his clothes off in the miffle of the concert. That was in St. Louis, it ended with Axl jumping to the crowd, punching someone and leaving. The crowd got so wild that destroyed the stadium, all the cars and buildings around the stadium. Can’t speak for some of the magazines attacks but the reason mick wall was there is that in an interview not long after the 1989 mtv awards where vince Neil of motley crue hit guitarist Izzy stradlin , axl went on a rant and offered to fight him. When it was published he said he never said anything like that. But wall had recorded the interview. So axl fell out with him. Then at rock in Rio 2 in 91 wall covered the event and as guns were the biggest story there he wrote how they’d changed and now had bodyguards and egos out of control. Axl threatened to sue. Then wall wrote his book on guns which again pissed off axl.. mostly because was full of stuff that made axl look like a chicken for not fighting vince Neil. This is all according to Mick Wall.
