This song has a very special place in the hearts of many GNR fans. I'm not even sure why, but seriously, it is one of my favorites for sure. Just something about it.

Slash was also in the band Velvet Revolver along with 3 other original members of GNR, along with Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots, they’re worth a listen.

Patience in my opinion, is a slow burn. It truly does build up slowly, and the ending is the best. I love that Axl holds back throughout the song, uses his baritone for the most part & then close to the end, he shines (as he always does). If you watch a live version of Patience, it adds even more to how much fun this song is :)

Axl said he wanted each album they put out to be very different from the last. This song came off the acoustic album. I love it, because most people didn't follow so close to realize what they were going to get. When he performed it live on stage for the first time (before the album came out I believe) at some awards show, everyone was just jaw dropping because it was so unexpected. I loved it so much.

Not all songs hit instantly. Sometimes it needs some time to make it. This is one of those. My favourite song of Gn'R is "Welcome to the Jungle". Good number two is "You could be mine". Greetings from Finland.

I've always loved that song, i was 15 when the song came out in 1988, brings me back to so many great memories of my teenage years in the 80's. I would say Nightrain or Rocket Queen is my favorite Guns 'N' Roses song but i love many many songs.

Everybody knows that Rock and Metal ballads are Evergreen. The best ones !

Yes! Rock ballads! It's a thing. At least it used to be in the 70s and 80s. Usually even generally pretty hard rock bands would occasionally throw in a softer, maybe romantic, type song. Some people, like myself, love them. Some people get all angry because they're too tough for a slower one, and feel betrayed because it isn't what they're used to and want , and probably everything in between. It's silly, really, but used to be a pretty common thing for rock bands. I can't remember if you've done Aerosmith yet, who were one of the greatest American hard rock bands, that were actually a huge influence on Guns and Roses, which is another story, but legendary guitarist Joe Perry used to say that he hated when Steven Tyler would write a ballad, because he just wanted to do more rockin' stuff, but begrudgingly admits that some of their ballads were their most successful songs, that in retrospect, he really likes himself. Especially, if you see a band live, you have to mix in a ballad! You can't just have the same level of energy for the entire show. You have to switch it up, create some variation and emotional transition in mood. You know?

Axl was just so versatile and his range is just insane. I’m not even close to that level but I practice a lot because I absolutely love music, especially GNR!

Many people know GnR mainly for their bangers, the rock hits but as with many "hair bands" from the 80s they all had rock ballads, many of them almost as big hits as their rock hits. Great reaction to a fantastic song

@InnaSoloMusic You are going to love seeing Slash live, back in 1992 I went to go see Guns N' Roses live in Chicago it was awesome.

Many rock bands make/made a ballad at one time in their careers. G&R did a few as well. Patience is a song that needs to grow on you over time. I became a G&R fan because of their louder music and listening to their albums you inevitable also listen to the more quiet songs and eventually I started to really like those too. If I think back at which song I liked best of G&R I think it still is Welcome to the jungle, the first song I heard.

Ciao, Inna! I was about your age when the first Guns album came out. There were many classics. I have clear memories of where I was when I first heard them. The songs I can personally relate to the most are "Yesterdays" and "Civil War."Also, the Paul McCartney cover "Live and Let Die" was excellent. If you haven't heard them yet, I recommend you do. I think they have what you would love to hear.

Axel Rose has some intense pipes.. none out there like it.. I'm so attached to this song and so many of their songs... so good. I have so many favorites, November Rain, Don't Cry, Civil War, Mr. Brownstone, and of course Patience..

Their song "Sweet Child o' Mine" is my favorite, only because the very first time I went for a solo drive with just me, my car, the road, and the stereo, it was the very first song that was on the radio when I turned it on. Every time I hear that song, I'm right back in my car driving down that road with the windows down and the smell of the desert north of Vegas. Some songs are pivotal in one's life, and Sweet Child o' Mine is one of them for me. Perhaps you'll like it too.

If you want more Slash stuff there's Velvet Revolver and his self-titled album that features guest singers and musicians, as an Avenged Sevenfold fan I love the M. Shadows song (Nothing to Say), and the song featuring Ferige (from Black Eyed Peas) absolutely slaps!

I first heard them play this on an awards show, and I was disappointed; I was expecting "Welcome to the Jungle," "Sweet Child o' Mine," or something fast. It later grew on me. Back in the '80s & '90s, "Sweet Child" would've been my favorite GnR song, but now I'd say "November Rain" by a hair.

yes... GNR is mostly a harder, faster, louder group. But like a lot of these hard rock bands, they do have a few songs on the softer side, and I think you've reacted to most of their "softer" stuff already.
