My liquor store of choice has some random things come in and out. A couple years ago Black Death came in and I bought an airplane bottle and a full size bottle. It was ok.
Have you looked into how Napster destroyed Flaw's career and sent them into debt to the record label and it took them nearly fifteen years to recover from it?
They might think it's poison! Since when is alcohol NOT poison? And who would refrain from drinking it because of that anyway? Most drinkers I know would LOVE a drink with an actual skull and crossbones on the label!
@nowonyuno well, I mean the were called Black Death. I remember seeing the cigarettes, never tried them. But I definitely thought it was a cool gimmick.
I don't like that comment that Slash was being "used as a spokesman". He's a grown adult and should be allowed to pick what products he wants to work with.
@@shaboygin8861 I mean, did you have any rockstars as role models growing up? Because most of them did drugs. Cough syrup is basically just hydrocodone, which is an opiate.
Yeah we know the government doesn’t want consumers to be confused with the poison symbol. I mean they wouldn’t want people to be put off and not buy it because the politicians might lose a little money from alcohol lobbyists.
You can still get Black Death in the UK (until we are forced to adopt US laws) and Europe. Interestingly Slash wasn't the first rocker associated with the brand as it was popular with both the Rockerbilly and Pub Rock scenes in the UK during the late 70s early 80s. The name and logo were actually inspired by motorcycle culture in the 70s. As a follow up you could do the brief run of the unrelated Death Cigarettes who had future Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bayley as ambassador in the mid 90s.
Yeah, what a shame it would be for you guys to start adopting US law like the constitution. Heaven forbid you guys get your right to free speech and right to bear arms back.
@@tyrantstomper We have much freer speech than in the US. Many non fiction books are heavily censored for the US market compared to the UK. The news outlets can go a lot further. Remember we all knew about Cosby back in the 90s, as well as Trump and Putin. Plus we've enough arseholes with guns as it is, with out making it east for them.
@@Djarra Please give me a break. People are getting arrested constantly in the UK for making jokes. Just look at Count Dankula and the countless others who have been arrrested for nazi jokes. Show me a single American who was arrested for speech like Count Dankula was.
*In 2006 in Indianapolis at the Historic Canterbury hotel i picked up slash in my Taxi. He was so laid back and nice that it was easy to forget he was a star. The man is a class act for sure....*
Thank you! I was just about to comment on that. Why didn't they go after the company that made the show? Oh, that's right, TV never influences kids, only rock music does that.
"Your logo you made before our law, mocks said law that you could of had no idea was coming when you created said logo. Err..." Dude it literally implies you could die, so, what now?
They must've given Slash A LOT of Vodka. A local band in Detroit (Pain Station -indie rock band. Google doesn't bring them up) said they had a deal with Slash (not Black Death) to use the logo. They would give away a bottle every show.
I am a freedom of choice type person. It does seem like a witch-hunt. This is America. The logo is not going to hurt anyone, or any thing!. Sometimes we can get over political, with things!. I hate that!. Celebrity promotion is nothing new... But I do understand the power of influence on the young!.
He has to. He has CHF, and has an internal defibrillator. When he actually does die, they'll have to unhook it because it'll keep shocking his heart if it doesn't detect a beat.
I bought a bottle of it with the coffin container in the 90's. If I'd had known it was controversial I would have done a better job of keeping track of it. I kept it for years but don't know where it is now.
2:55 props to Slash for showing the interviewer respect and not being an asshole, it would’ve been really easy to make fun of the guys english however the fact he let him speak and didn’t laugh shows what he’s truly like
I miss when we had these kinds of problems. "the logo is a little iffy" LOL ! Not only that, a Cartoon Camel was promoting cigarettes and Marlboro literally rewarded you for smoking. I feel like this was more the "war against rock music" that lead to the parental advisory labels, and had very little to do with actual content or concern about what kids were doing.
Former Surgeon General Antonia Novello is the sister-in-law of Don Novello, who is better known as Father Guido Sarducci. She would go on to get into legal trouble, pleading guilty to a felony charge.
To me, the product looks scary, but you can't deny it looks badass and its creativity is high. Out of touch grown ups are taking this whole product so literal and way out of context. I'm 18 years old and I'm not old enough to drink yet lol.
Personally im a gut rot vodka guy but, endorsement is a wonderful thing. When will the government learn that if they go after something, people want it more.
America be like Guns can be bought anywhere, no problem. Skull in a hat bad. Like a rock band gonna tell people what to do, rock and roll is about doing whatever YOU want. This is stupid.
I had some, awesome shit. Back in the day vodka was my drink of choice, one day I tried this stuff out, the only bad thing was the price, I could not afford it all the time.
Wasn't black death cigarettes a thing too? I remember finding a bunch of empty packs in an abandoned house when I was inside ripping all the copper out of the house. It was scarry finding old porno mags, empty bottles of booze and black death cigs on the floor of a house being reclaimed by the forest.
"this is a witch hunt , except these witches don't have broomsticks, they have legislative capacity " ? - I think the black death ceo misunderstood the term witch hunt. The witches don't do the hunting lol
censorship is absurd. i don’t think slash- a grown man- endorsing a vodka brand should have any impact on kids. if you don’t want your kids drinking underage, maybe just educate them on the dangers of drinking underage lmao. idk i’m not gonna go “time to do heroin because slash did it!!!” it’s not slash’s job- slash has literally said in many interviews he discourages kids from doing drugs or drinking and his actions shouldn’t be used as a role model for kids.
If the label was confusing, surly it is only a problem if there is a negative outcome? If someone was actually stupid enough to drink it after mistaking it for poison, nothing happens, why did society need a legislative ban?
5:15. You gotta be kidding me. Who would get the logo confused with the poison logo. I never even heard of Black Death Vodka. Or it’s logo. It wouldn’t confuse me . This all sounds to much, like a marketing ploy. Starting a rumor for gain . To get there 1000000 buck they spent on to inquire slash , back.
I actually had a bottle of this I don't think I have it now and my huge Guns & Roses collection of magazines that came out back in the late eighties early nineties and are still in the plastic that they were sold and never opened I got a tons of Guns & Roses memorabilia but I also had a pack of black death cigarettes death cigarettes and I didn't even smoke at the time so at the time so it was funny as hell but I was a huge Guns & Roses fan in fact I had about 50 Guns & Roses T shirts a lot of them I bought for about $30 a pop At the GNR use your illusion tour and I wore a different Guns & Roses shirt tor to high school every single day a different shirt for the whole year
88,000 deaths annually related to alcohol. Its irresponsible for a rock star or anyone to promote alcohol. Slash now claims to be clean and sober (and tobacco free)
Kids don’t want to drink alcohol because of musicians. They want to drink it because they aren’t allowed to drink it. Not saying they should, god no. I’m saying that they need to stop trying to put blame on celebrities as if they’re in charge of other peoples kids.
