Since Guns & Roses first released their debut Album in 1987, many years have passed, music has changed so many times. So much History and World Events have taken place. Well this was News to me...New Guns & Roses
Been a fan since i saw them in 1988. Like you, i kind of moved on from them and am now only catching up with chinese democracy etc but this song has just reignited my absolute love for the band. The video makes me feel really emotional, seeing them all look so great and happy. I love love love this song. I go to bed with it in my head and wake up with it 😂 thanks for the great review 😊
I really like all the newer songs especially Perhaps. Love the tone in Slash’s solo. By the way Chinese Democracy took a few listens to really appreciate the songs. I listen to it often now.
They reunited in 2016 and been touring the world ever since This is the 3rd “new” song they released the last 3 years (Absurd and Hard Skool from 2021) with two more rumored coming this year Just saw them live Tuesday and they were the best I’ve ever seen them “New” songs because all of these latest releases are songs from the Chi Dem era that now Slash and Duff are reworking to Axl’s old vocals But that is the history of GNR. The illusion albums alerte filled with Appetite era songs
Thanks for the heads up SA, like I have said, “been living under a rock”. I’ll have to check the tunes out you mentioned and good review on the show you just saw. Was good to hear the positive!
Axl’s falsetto is weaker these days but his low range is perfect. These new songs allow him to sing in that lower register But their tour since the 2016 reunion is 100% professional with on time starts and ending before city curfews The illusion songs like YCBM, November rain, Knockin, and don’t cry all existed during the Appetie era but were finalized for the double album Same ole same now
Background on the song. Its from 1999, the Chinese democracy sessions. The vocal track is from back then too. axl just had the current band redo the song. Brain is still on drums but its Slash and Duff replacing the Robin Finck and Tommy parts.
@@FishtankMediaTV You are welcome. I do hope one of these days we get songs fully written by Axl Slash and Duff instead of these Chinese Democracy era songs.
I don’t think Axl is completely burned out. He could still do his signature voice but he wouldn’t be able to keep it for the whole concert as they are constantly touring
i saw guns and roses about 4 years ago axl slash they still have got it ive seen many bans including paul mcartney guns and roses rocked the best took me right back
There are two separate Guns and Roses. There are the hungry gritty in your face almost punk rockers who brought you Appetite for Destruction and then the guys who now want to be a 70’s stadium rock band in the likes of Nazareth or Blue Oyster Cult. I like the young of full of spit and vinegar Gunners.
"I don't know what it took to get them back together." I think the answer might be in the song. Which is pretty amazing. Of course, music is open to a million different interpretations. But, outside of that, I think Axl just owned up to being kinda a dick to Slash and Duff and everybody, thirty years back. (And, since nothing is ever a hundred percent one-sided, Slash and the guys said whatever they had to say). And that was it. They ultimately had enough respect for eachother to talk out their problems. And now their back to being G n R. Now, here's a wacky concept: imagine if every human decided to just talk to eachother like that, when problems come up, or whatever. Ya think things might just be a little better off? (Yeah, I know I using Guns n Roses as an example of emotional maturity and stability. I know it's weird).
Robin Finck's EPIC PERHAPS Guitar Solo EXPLODES right off the TOP of the FREAKIN CHARTS MAN. it EXPLODES onto THE MOVIE SCREEN. Robin Finck has taken the Art of the Guitar Solo to New EPIC HEIGHTS on Perhaps!
@@FishtankMediaTV Yeah. Perhaps featuring Mr. Robin Finck is EPIC ROCK. Here's the link on my channel to hear Robin Perhaps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VP5H3eBVyCU.htmlsi=NO5WUex6j5aaxf0U and let me know you think!
@@FishtankMediaTV I sent you the link to the REAL Perhaps featuring the REAL GUNS N ROSES lead guitarist known as Mr. Robin Finck. Did you listen to it?
This is the best out the three but there not bad, not well like by many though haha

How is it possible to work in radio and not knowing they reunited? That's hard to believe. I love the song. The die hard fans are disappointed (as they always are) because it's an old song. Most of them have probably never played a note their whole lives so who cares.
I left radio just a bit over 10 yrs ago. Since then I have not listened to music radio, I do not have TV and have not watched that in years. Just RU-vid, but again it had not been for music. I at times find it hard to believe also that I had created such distance from the medium.
Wow! Is Right: The wow about this review from a long time radio gus is that this song was written and recorded during the Chinese Democracy days/lineup. Many of us have had a leaked demo version of this for years and years. The vocals on this version are the vocals Axl laid down way back then. The only noticeable changes are Slash and Duff rerecorded the guitar and bass for this release. So, it's interesting that you say you weren't the biggest fan of Chinese Democracy as this song is right in line with the sound/feel of the songs on that album and was written by the members of some incarnation of that lineup. You - like many others - walked into Chinese Democracy with a built in bias because Slash and Duff weren't there. And now you like this song because you think it was written by the old lineup. Funny. Listen to CD again and you'll hear it.
I am a long time fan but didn't bother with Chinese Democracy since I was a fan of the original line up. I finally listened to CD recently and absolutely hate it. I think band line ups make all the difference.
Not biased by Slash and Duff, was shuffling threw a lot of new music vying for radio play. Have always been and still a big Buckethead fan. I'm going to go back and listen to Chines Democracy (even though their is no such thing in China) with a fresh set of ears. Thanx.
He looks different because he has aged of course, time has a way of doing that. But he sure looks a hell of a lot better than he did in the mid to late 2000's.
Song is very good, it’s sad though that they can only rehash old Chinese democracy throwaways because let’s be honest. Axl has lost his voice, he can’t sing anymore. Watch any live performance lately. Even for this song and It’s just a fact. So they use the old bed tracks and vocal tracks and add Duff and Slash new tracks and put it out. Would love to see them actually write something together. But again Axl just can’t do it anymore. Voice is shot.
@@ryansmurda1552 agreed. He was an original, a one in a million singer and frontman. It’s just hard to see him perform so poorly vocally these days. I choose to remember them from Their heyday
@@FishtankMediaTV exactly, and every singer is different, some can go into their 70s and sound the same, other lose it early. Can’t be easy singing those songs every night for 35 years.
Well, course is, he’s not with the band. He still hanging out in Ojai California far is Steven Adler haven’t heard anything about him for years not even still know if he’s over the drug addiction, but did have the honor of interviewing him on the radio while he was still battling those addictions.
@@FishtankMediaTV Steven Adler does his own covers of GNR with his own band Izzy Stradlin also has his own band but has been known to do cameo appearances with GNR in the past
Yeah the band has gotten back toghere I think in 2016 and Axl Rose has lost a lot of weight sense then and he has changed his style this year I personally think this is Axl roses best year sense 2016 but his voice is destroyed but he says he is planning to go to surgery soon again to fix his voice
Yes was 2016, looked up some info after stumbling on to this and listening. I thought his voice on the tune sounded great, yes a lot of processing but still that Axl sound.
@@FishtankMediaTVhis voice doesn't have any effects, only polish and a little more (nothing too different than current singers) but this is definitely not autotune at all. That's not how autotune works Sir.
Such a joke. All the people who bashed Chinese Democracy now say they love Perhaps. Perhaps would have been one of the worst songs on Chinese Democracy but because Slash plays on it, everyone loves it!!! 🤮🤮🤮
I'll be honest, wasn't a fan of Chinese Democracy. Maybe I should give it another listen. My understanding is Brian May did the guitar originally on this cut. Nothing to do with just Slash but all and all a good cut.
Musically good, but yes without formal training, the screaming and whiskey it takes a toll on the vocal Chords for sure. There are many bands that kill it in the studio but just cannot pull it off well live.
That what I have come to understand through some of the comments, and thanks for yours. I sure would like to hear the May solo. Have always loved his very distinct sound.
