Gunung Datuk is located in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. It is 855 meters high and is the third highest mountain in Negeri Sembilan.
There are many ways to spell the Malay name of this mountain; you will see Gunung Dato, Gunung Datok, Gunung Datuk on the road sign, and Gunung Rambau or Gunung Rembau Datuk on the map. No matter what, according to the information on the guide board at the mountain trail, this mountain is named after Dato' Perpatih Nan Sebatang, who organized a gathering of leaders in 1372 and became the clan leader (Dato' Lembaga) by election. Dato's in that era were highly respected people.
To climb this mountain, you must first pay the RM5 entrance fee at the trail entrance, and you also need to fill in your information and entry time; this is to protect and facilitate the forest rangers. They can know your entry and exit time. If there is no record, it will be difficult to contact you if there is an emergency on the mountain.
The path is clear at Gunung Datuk, with the first rocky part being quite steep and challenging. You'll need both hands and feet here. If you're not used to this, it's a good idea to wear gloves and put away your trekking poles for now. You can use them again after the rest stop.
After the rest stop, the path gets more level, but watch out for old tree roots that might trip you up. As you go on, you'll see fewer roots and more rocks, and the path will get steeper again in the third section. If it's just rained, it can be slippery, so take care.
While climbing, you’ll see lots of rare stones and big, beautiful trees. And at the top, there's an amazing 360-degree view where you can see the Strait of Malacca!
The whole trail is about 5.80 kilometers long. Though it's tough, it's great for pace training, and you'll feel accomplished at the top.
Don't forget to bring your trash back with you. It's up to us to protect the forest. Although the bathrooms only have cold showers, a quick rinse before heading home will make you feel refreshed and ready to drive. Have a fantastic time!

这座山的国语名称有很多种拼法；路牌会见到Gunung Dato, Gunung Datok, Gunung Datuk，而地图上也会看到 Gunung Rambau 或 Gunung Rembau Datuk，但无论如何，依据山口径的解说牌的资料，这座山是以 Dato' Perpatih Nan Sebatang 而命名，他在1372年组织了领导人聚会，以选举方式成为了氏族首领（Dato' Lembaga），那个年代的拿督是德高望重的人。
要登上这座山，您先必须到径口缴纳RM5/- 的入场费，也需要填写您的资料及进入的时间；这是保障及方便护林人员；能知道您的进入和离开的时间，如没记录，上山有突发事件就很难与您联系。
拿督山的路径清晰，开始的第一段岩石路，是最陡和最耗力的路径。这是一段手脚并用的路段，建议不习惯的山友戴上手套，而登山杖可以先收起，过了休息站才用。过了休息站后，路径就显得比较平缓，但路上会有很多老树盘根，所以要小心您的步伐，以免被绊脚。走着走着您会发觉树根渐少，大石增多；第三段的路径也慢慢的比刚才的陡，这里有一段路（如刚下雨）会比较滑，而且路径也比较窄，所以下山的朋友记得先让山上的先上，“上坡时开满油”冲着上，停下就很难再冲了。
登这座山可以看到很多，奇珍异石和很多巨大美丽的大树；不仅如此，到达山顶有360度的风景，可以远观马六甲海峡以。在山顶一定要小心，以为很多景点都是在悬崖边缘，别乐极生悲。
这山全程大约5.80公里，路径虽比较艰难，但非常适合作为步伐训练之地，登上顶后您一定不会后悔，说不定还会有流连忘返之意呢。
垃圾记得带回家才丢，保护森林您我有责。浴室虽然只能洗冷水澡；但回家前冲洗干净，驾起车也会比较精神。
