Guo Pei - Couture Beyond 

Guo Pei's work is one of the most fascinating works I've seen in my life. It is luxury. Art. Expression. Tradition. History. And Fantasy. All put into one piece. That's what makes her fashion shows so worth watching. Also cus I'm tired of watching fashion shows of works that say "classy" but have no meaning.

I want to see a collaboration between Guo Pei and Iris van Herpen

She's legit the dragon of Haute Couture. Legend.

She is an absolute master of Couture art. Unvelievable work and detail

My literal favorite designer. She reminds me to love my heritage and never hold back.

No honey, she is not a designer. She is the amazingly creator of artwork. An abstract architect sculpture maker, better then all those"designer" combined!

I would like to give Credit to the People who sew and stitched these magic pieces together. They are truly masters of their crafts!

In addition to her phenomenal design capabilities, it's her attitude of total commitment & love that shines forth and which she advises all young designers must embody otherwise they'll never reach their goals. Such a wise soul!

Guo Pei represents a way to wear these representations of love, In fact, I cannot believe she is letting people saunter around, modeling these pieces, I would be so protective of each creation, and hope that the person evolves when they put it on, the art of the dress must change a person, and to be honored with wearing it means that you presented the need to be, just be, and that is art. Very much seated in love, to just be, and thats the decipline that comes from surviving the loss of love, is to love again! Thanks Guo Pei Family Collection.

I feel so honored to have viewed this exhibition. Watching this video gave me goosebumps as I remembered all that I saw then. As Guo Pei said, "a runway show gives an impression", but an exhibit allows you to truly view the details. The details...oh the details... you have no idea...the depth , the delicacy, richness, thoughtfulness...simply divine!!! The way the garments were illuminated, staged or animated gave them life!! Seeing that cape Rihanna wore in person was magnificent, but the gold embroidered ballgown (the gown that opened and closed this video) was breathtaking....it appeared to be lit from within...it absolutely glowed! By the time we were done, my guy thanked me for suggesting this exhibit, he was so moved by it all. We spent hours there and hardly uttered a word, just took it in at our pace, circled back to some and got a close as we possibly could. Thank you, SCAD!!!

I’ve only recently discovered this fabulous designer in the last couple of days and I ant get enough of her. Her attention to detail, the historical elements remind me of the old Chinese Emperor films you can just imagine the ladies of the court in the Forbidden City wearing these stunning outfits. I’d love to see more of her work.

I just finished watching Ms. Guo's exhibit at the Legion of Honor museum in San Francisco, and I was absolutely blown away. I also saw her designs at the Met in NYC many years ago, but never knew who she was until now. As a Chinese immigrant who grew up mostly in the U.S., and who studied in France for a year in college, I think she's done an excellent job fusing the Chinese culture and European cultures in her designs. I also love her attitude. She's so talented, and yet so humble, which is truly Chinese because even with over 5000 years of history, we're constantly learning and improving. One of these days I'd love to have the opportunity to see one of your shows in person. Please keep up your good work Ms. Guo, you have a new fan!

I don't even consider them clothes they are works of art. The intricacy the she puts into her work puts her things at a whole new level. they are master pieces.

I am in awe at the vision, artistry and skill of Guo Pei. Seeing her work and works of creation is an evocative and emotional experience. Wonderful!

A design worth the royal family

Guo Pei has accumulated art and craftsmanship as she’s stated in this video of all varieties of designers that have produced their design in China. With this said she’s gathered an abandoned of craftsmanship of the most hardworking and intricate handcrafted art anyone can ever find and she’s designed and produced the chines form of designer ship. Inspired by a beyond Dutch artist,designer called “Iris Van Herpen”….. Guo Pei has been blessed to bring out her own collection of Art fashion. She’s been given authority to use chines hard workmanship in the highest form that China can offer. A dream of every designer of the world. Yes China has been good to this lady designer Guo Pei. My admiration and and adoration goes to the hardworking, pattern skilled, and hand craftsman, “unmentioned” people who’ve had the honor but at the same time the exhaustion and underpaid journey to be part of the Chinese, world admired designer Guo Pei. I’m sure she had a ton of pressure frm her country’s investors to bring out nothing but the very best China’s can offer. And as a result of accumulated wealth that the globe has given to China, I don’t mean to criticize Guo Pei, No not at all, bcs she’s managed to make China authorities proud! But just a reminder for Chinese authorities….. YOU’RE WELCOME, we the world who’ve helped you come this far in the world of fashion design. 👏👏👏👏👏

Guo is so correct about the younger generations focusing only on fame and wealth, versus creativity and love of the skill- in many professions, not just fashion. It’s a mentality that you see everywhere today. This generation seems to only want to be rich and famous- and they don’t seem to understand that it typically requires a lot of hard work to achieve either. I am a hairstylist for 20 years and recently (within the last 8 years or so) the assistants/junior stylists that are coming to do their apprenticeship right out of beauty school are incredibly lazy, overly sensitive, and very entitled. It’s almost as if they expect to come out of school and already be on top. If they were not so frustrating to train it would be hilarious.

Every single piece she creates is an incredible work of art. Do people actually buy these? How? How is it financed? I absolutely love the creations, but I'm wondering how it all works. Probably just naive.

Ma secondo me Guo Pei ha è un fashion designer all avanguardia. Come Iris Van Herpen . Soltanto che la stilista olandese Iris si ispira le forme che assume l’acqua , forme , materia , arte : questi sono le parole chiavi . Guo pei vuole mostrare non solo il design particolare che adotta lei, ma vuole far sottolineare le complicate applicazioni in Payette, gemme pietre , piume , vari ricami .anche se sono due mode all avanguardia, hanno una grande differenza : Iris utilizza molto la tecnologia e nuovi macchinare futuristici con materiali plastici di e trasparenti . Guo pei invece utilizza materiali della sartoria tradizione . Anche se le creazioni sono complicate , lei utilizza piume , seta , ricami , pagliett . Lei è una sognatrice , Iris un artista che trasforma la moda in una vera e propria forma di arte . Ognuno ha la propria idea su Guo Pei , dopo tutto si possono avere pareri più o meno positivi sulla moda .

People seem to have very little to say about her work. The only meaningful comments between all of them besides "it's great" were "revives traditional techniques" and "takes lots of work". They didn't really say anything about the clothing itself. Sounds like a lot of people who would like others to think they understand the art they see.

She just draws the sketches. To make one of those dresses it takes 20 women to work day and night with bloody fingers and get paid a dollar a day. Those are demons dresses!
