I don't know why everyone talks of being a famous designer... I want to learn how to be a seamstress of that talent!!!!! The sewing was absolutely completely stunning! What they achieved with that garment is art! Jeez, and I used to think I could sew. Ha! Thanks for posting!
John Galliano's design is just...genius!! I notice the little detail on the black sheer fabric that had little jagged edge... His attention to detail combine with many things make all of his designs very stunning and unique... I'm waiting for your comeback John Galliano!!!
this dress took about 500 hours to make.and i think it was about 166.5 meters of fabric. it is on display at the royal onterio museum. it is absolutly magnificent in person i only wish i could own this dress
Exquisite refinement doesn't begin to describe the delicate beauty and artistry involved in making a Dior Haute Couture gown. Few women around the world, they say less than 200? are couture clients. This was spectacular. The seamstresses, pattern makers, embroiderers, fabric houses and the "petit mains" are the unsung stars of this art form.
This is what a Haute Couture looks like, not the Dior these days. Galliano is the real essence of this house, and with his departure, Dior was torn apart.
Aizen Knaik i couldn't agree more. galliani was the one who put dior at the top of the map. galliano is the sole reason we have dior the great fashion house and its unfathomable as to why lvmh would let this genius go.
The funny, yet dispiriting thing is, I'm sure the atelier staff and all their savoir-faire are still there, exactly the same. But under Maria Grazia-Chiuri, there will be little need for their technical brilliance as it was under Galliano. Galliano really pushed them to exploit their expertise to the full.
Dandylion Precisely! When you look at this collection, not only is it aesthetically pleasing, the techniques and the savoir faire go beyond the imagination. They layered 7~8 different layers of tulle on the fabric to give it the ombrè quality instead of handpainting it. They pushed themselves beyond their limits every time. But mgc always has the same tulle dresses and the same boring techniques and silhouettes used over and over again its exhausting.
Thank you for posting this video!! Thank you amazing people who make couture COUTURE! Lovely and educational video of couture behind the scenes :) So glad and thankful for people who film this video! THANK YOU!!!

Wearable art, such artisans, worth every penny, understated elegance. Love it. I would love to be on the hand me down recipient of those who buy the couture designs! Thank you for sharing.
So beautiful. I find myself tearing up over couture! But it's great to see how many people are employed doing wonderful things. And young people too - I was surprised. I thought the seam(workers)stresses would all be over 65. I don't care at all about clothes myself - but I love the beauty and creativity of the process.
Cuánto trabajo y dedicación puesta en cada vestido felicidades a cada persona que se encuentra trabajando con tanta dedicación y entrega son un gran ejemplo a seguir.
What an incredible amount of work to create something that looks so effortlessly magnificent! It's like a composer writing a symphony and then getting an orchestra to realize it!
The dream, effort, the struggle, the care, the many parts, the dedication, the many hands, the infinite process, the layers, the thousand of pins, the rigor, the obsession, the vision, the time invested, the lives involved...the dream Dior.
I’m holding my breath through this! 😀. It’s absolutely amazing! These seamstresses are profoundly talented and accomplished! I hope they are paid commensurate with these skills. What a devastating garment. It’s divine!
What John Galliano did for each collections reflected the spirit of Dior, in cut, in style, in craftmanships. He is skillful incorporate the Dior style into clothes.
So SATISFYING to watch this kind of video . I know sewing very well already and I'm learning tambour embroidery so I can make my own haute couture outfit .
