About Gurrumul:
Born blind, the Indigenous Australian singer/songwriter Gurrumul grew up as a member of the Gumatj clan on Elcho Island, off the coast of tropical North East Arnhem land in Australia’s Northern Territory. Gurrumul’s songs speak of identity, spirit, connection with the land, the elements and the ancestral beings to whom he is related. His fragile but uniquely emotive high tenor voice and aura-like persona elicit feelings of peace and longing in listeners.
Gurrumul first came to the world’s attention when his self-titled debut album Gurrumul was released to international acclaim in 2008. His angelic voice connected with fans the world over, including such notable names as Elton John, will.I.am, Sting, Gary Barlow, Quincy Jones and Stevie Wonder. Half a million copies of Gurrumul have been sold worldwide.

The quiet expressions on the faces of the Aborigines touched my heart deeply. Why? They’ve been subjected to more challenges because of colonisation - prejudice, unemployment, alcoholism, domestic violence ... but praise God, He draws near to the broken-hearted, the humble and those who seek His face. He gives them hope in Christ Jesus and the peace that is beyond our understanding😌🙏💕

How ironic that he is singing a Christian song in a language the Christians who converted them forbid them to use. The Aboriginal people actually have more than 60,000 years old beliefs to better keep them together than a hyocritical Christian one. Gurrumul had a very spiritual singing voice and style when he sang of the Aboriginal spirits and beliefs. RIP Gurrumul.

Didn't quite get the Gurrumul fuss until I saw this video and music. This visual match up to the music is an absolute masterpiece and goes to a deep, deep emotional place. For me there is a profound emotional core to this music that lies outside time or literality - so there is no need for a translation as I don't need to know right know what this means or meant to Gurrumul - though usually I'm an avid prospector for any nuggets of info on what has inspired great songs. At present the music suggests a lament, perhaps for a people whose spirit has been all but terminally broken through neglect - or maybe for a whole country. Yet it may also be an anthem to change - preceded by the deep and certain knowledge that the time has surely come to recognise that the need for change has never been greater. This music is no raging battle anthem though - rather it is the oh-so gentle yet insistent call of a visionary in whose music we must recognise a call to both personal and national healing. Heartfelt thanks to all who made alive this transcendent piece of art.

Lindsey, my friend. There is only one great Spirit and He is not an "it." He is not the universe or cosmic consciousness etc. He created the universe and is distinct from His creation. His name is The Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of Jesus Christ. God has created all humanity out of one blood and there is one way to be saved (we are lucky we have that, he owes us nothing. We have rebelled against him in our sin and darkness.) We must turn from sin, trust in Jesus Christ dying on the cross and taking the punishment which our sins have earnt us. Believe who Jesus said he was in the Bible. Dont create a false God to avoid your accountability to the one and only creator who has revealed himself in creation, conscience, the Bible and in Jesus Christ: "I AM the way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through me." John 14:6 Go well.

Such a beautiful sound. The thing that has impressed me the most is his pure Aboriginal spirit and has shown me a glimpse of how beautiful a people they are but harmed by our western intrusion into their lives. I hope God gives him healing to his vision so he can see his beautiful world of his people. This really has touched me and have watched this video countless times.

I don't know any of the words at all , but felt like presence vibe feeling off the song as though saying : Here is another group of your family and other ones may be at other places far off as well .
